Hemoturgy

"We are linked by blood, and blood is memory without language."
— Joyce Carol Oats
Many people may not think of blood as a source for power, but it is in the practitioners of Hemoturgy who know this answer. Blood is not only the liquid in the body, flowing through each of the muscles, bones, tissues, and organs. But a powerful form of magic.   The simple act of drawing ones life force can create a massive vortex that could collapse a tower, release a torrent of flame from the flick of a user's crimson covered hand, or even fuel a sword with tubes connecting to the very veins. Hemoturgy is not only a science and a way of evolving technology, but it is the nature of spellcasting.   Hemoturgy has been a very ancient spellcasting since the world of Praetoris and the Praetorem had existed. While its history is rather a shrouded portion, with most legends believing it came from the Omen of Blood; with others saying it was always a practiced tradition.   Hemoturgy flows though everything and everyone. All one has to do is open themselves up to it.

Practice

Practice with blood magic can be dangerous, but it could also be intriguing to the beginner. The reasoning for this is not because of masochistic tendencies, but of inquiry. Most users find this form of magic to be interesting; mainly because of the thought "My blood can do that?"   When a practictioner of Hemoturgy, called a "Hemoturgist" uses Hemoturgy — they must pay a blood tax to cast the spell. The more taxing the spell, the more blood required.   Hemoturgists are sometimes required to speak the name of spells as well, or something chant them. Materials are nothing of important because of the blood tax.

Pools of Hemoturgy

Hemoturgy is divided into classifications given by Hemoturgists called "Pools." These pools represent the individual type of hemoturgic spells that can be cast.   The pools are as follows: Infernalis, Tempestas, Alluvium, Evanidus, Inanis, Glacies, Caelestia, and Plaga.

Infernalis

There is a fire in my blood! Let me show you what it can do!
— Garth Verdalis
The pool of Infernalis is the pool of burning passion, desire, hatred, and destruction. Hemoturgy using the pool of Infernalis is fire, creating great flames of crimson hue. The user can shape this flame like they can with their own blood. The flame is apart of them, it is them.   Creations of Infernalis include: Flame geysers erupting form spilled blood, fire manipulation of the created blood, bolts of fire, and melting of an object touched by the user's blood.   This pools is one of the most commonly used pools for Hemoturgy, providing a quick way for the Hemoturgist to deal some damage, scare an individual, or even melt an opponent's Hemo-tech.   Infernalis, unlike its opposite, Glacies, cannot be used on an pre-existing flame. The Hemoturgist doesn't, however, need to have a stead supply of blood flowing into the created flame Additionally, Infernalis is an accepted Pool in Hemoturgist society.

Tempestas

A storm is coming. One only needs bloodshed to call it.
— Unknown
The pool of Tempestas is a pool of the storm, lightning, air, and change. Hemoturgy using the pool of Tempestas is electric, creating bolts of lightning, waves of air, and thunderous shockwaves. The user can create crackling sparks of electrical energy just as their heart pounds with the thunder. Each precise thump of the heart; another wave of thunderous energy released.   Creations of Tempestas include: Bolts of lightning created from spilled blood, lightning and thunder manipulation from the created hemoturgy, shockwaves in an area of blood, lash of lightning from thrown blood, and short circuiting technology touched with chosen blood.   This pools is as commonly used for Hemoturgy like the Infernalis pool, providing a more hard hitting damage and additional crowd control support from the waves of thunder. But it could also provide the Hemoturgist with a way to short circuit Hemo-tech, their opponent has, if any.   Tempestas, unlike Infernalis, requires a steady stream of blood for its lightning effects, while it needs a fresh blood tax for each thunderous or air effect of the pool. Additionally, Tempestas is an accepted pool in Hemoturgist society.

Alluvium

My blood is the earth,
Rattling with each drip that touches Praetoris' ground.
My blood is the ground.
Alluvium is my blood, and I am alluvium.
Fear me for the ground quakes with each step I take.
— The Alluvium Oath Poem
The pool of Alluvium is the pool of earth, land, rock, metal, and stability. Hemoturgy using the pool of Alluvium is craggy, creating shards of rocks, cracks in the ground, and plant growth. The user can create solid pillars of earth as their feet touch the ground. As each toe touches graces the ground; another pillar and crack breaks the surface of the earth.   Creations of Alluvium include: Shards of slate created from thrown blood, dust and rock manipulation from the created hemoturgy, and controlled earthquakes from spilled blood.   This pool is moderately used for Hemoturgy, not as much as Infernalis or the Tempestas pool, mainly as a additional resort of damage and additional crowd control support from the quaking earth. But it coul also provide the Hemoturgist with a way to prevent additional harm to the Hemoturgist.   Alluvium, much like Infernalis, doesn't require a steady stream of blood for its craggy effects, but it does requires a fresh blood tax for each effect. Additionally, Alluvium is an accepted pool in Hemoturgist society.

Evanidus

Time is a created thing. To say "I don't have time" is to say "I don't want to."
— Lao Tzu
The pool of Evanidus is the pool of time, temperance, possibility, and temporal morass. Hemoturgy using the pool of Evanidus is fluctuating, creating pockets of time, traveling between the seconds of the temporal, seeing possibilities, altering the time around the Hemoturgist, and manipulating the sense of time around others. The user can create streaks of folded time. As each second ticks by; another fold is warped.   Creations of Evandius include: folds of time from spilled blood, alternating the Hemoturgist's sight between the past and the future using a pool of blood, ripping a portal with thrown blood, and temporal manipulation from the created hemoturgy.   Evanidus, much like Infernalis, doesn't requires a steady stream of blood for its temporal effects, but it does requires a fresh blood tax for each effect. Additionally, Evanidus is an banned pool in Hemoturgist society because of the harmful side effects it has on the Hemoturgist's mind and body. Problems potentially caused using Evanidus is: Amnesia, permanent memory loss, psychosis, or permanent fluctuation to the Hemoturgist's own temporal awareness.

Inanis

It's the gravity that shapes the large scale structure of the universe, even thought it is the weakest of four categories of forces.
— Stephen Hawking
The pool of Inanis is the pool of gravity, space, vacancy, and spacial manipulation. Hemoturgy using the pool of Inanis is abyssmal, creating gravity wells, manipulating the atmosphere around the hemoturgist, relieving objects of the gravatonic force around them, and —in rare occasions— creating portals. The user can create pools of galactic space around them. Each draw of breath, the vacuum of space engulfs more.   Creations of Inanis include: temporary black holes from pooled blood, change the density of an object covered or touched with thrown blood, weaponry made from temporary black holes from streams of blood, and gravatonic manipulation from the created hemoturgy.   Inanis requires a steady stream of blood for its gravatonic effects, but it doesn't require a fresh blood tax for each spacial effect it causes. Additionally, Inanais is a banned pool in Hemoturgist society because of the harmful side effects it has on the Hemoturgist. Problems potentially caused using Inanis is: permanent lose in limb functionality, death, implosion, permanent density shift, and transforming into a black hole.

Glacies

My blood is colder than the hearts of men.
The heat will never reach me for I am not a normal man.
Glacies is my soul and it will always be frozen
My blood is colder than the hearts of men.
Fear the next ice age for my blood holds its strength
— The Glacies Oath Poem
The pool of Glacies is the pool of ice, cold, water, and cryokinetic manipulation. Hemoturgy using the pool of Glacies is frozen, creating frost, manipulating the temperature around the hemoturgist, creating shards of crystal, and conjuring blizzards. The user can freeze objects around them. As each finger touches; the glass like shards of frozen water creeps across it more.   Creation of Glacies include: shards of frozen blood from pooled blood, snow from thrown blood, corruption of ice from spilled blood, cryokinetic manipulation from the created hemoturgy, freezing an object exposed to blood, liquid freezing from spilled blood, and blizzard creation from pooled blood.   Glacies, unlike it's polar opposite, Infernalis, can be used on pre-existing ice. Additionally, Glacies provides a way for the user to have more defensive capabilities in any situation, whether it's though throwing a shard of ice, creating frost underneath their feet, or even freezing an opponents Hemo-Tech. Glacies is also an accepted pool in Hemoturgist socieity.

Caelestia

The wound is the place with light enters you.
— Rumi
The pool of Caelestia is the pool of light, glow, sun, and photokinesis. Hemoturgy using the pool of Caelestia is bright, creating light, manipulating the amount of light around the hemoturgist, creating orbs of pure sunlight, and quickening the hemoturgists speed beyond measurable means. The user can illuminate the room. As each finger spreads; the light grows brighter.   Creations of Caelestia include: beams of light from spilled blood, bolts of illumination from pooled blood, photokinetic manipulation from the created hemoturgy, illuminating an object exposed to blood, change the reflection of light on the hemoturgist, move at light speed from stepping on blood, and conjuring pure daylight from gathered blood.   Caelestia, much like its sister pool, Inanis, requires a constant flow of blood for its luminous effects, but it also can be used with pre-existing lights around the hemoturgist. Additionally, Caelestia requires a fresh blood tax for each effect. The pool of Caelestia is also a banned pool in hemoturgist society because of its blinding effects. Problems that could rise from the pool of Caelestia are: permanent blindness, final death, vanishing from the world permanently, and severe burns from intense exposure to sunlight.

Plaga

Tis the times' plague, when madmen lead the blind.
— William Shakespeare
The pool of Plaga is rot, disease, affliction, viral, and virokinesis. Hemoturgy using the pool of Plaga is contagious, creating infestations of insects, manipulating the virus or toxin in a body, creating a disease from the hemoturgist, and conjuring Bloodblight. The user can create small boils on a creature. As each finger curls inward; another festering pus-filled glob rapidly grows on it.   Creations of Plaga include: insect swarms from pooled blood, infectious mist from thrown blood, creating a disease using another creature's blood, strengthening a disease by implementing the hemoturgist's blood, and conjuring a parasite from pooled blood.   Plaga, much like some of the other pools, can be used with a pre-existing disease. Additionally, the pool of Plaga is a banned pool in hemoturgist society because of what it is the domain of. Problems that can come from this pool are: an world-wide epidemic, permanent infectious body, bloodblight growing from the hemoturgist, and true death. Additionally, Plaga can be used to infect an opponent's Hemo-Tech with their poisonous blood.

What Is a "Blood Tax?"
A blood tax is a magical component used for hemoturgy. When one is to pay the blood tax or blood toll, they must inflict a would upon themself, drawing blood. Once the blood toll has been paid, then the hemoturgist can use hemoturgy using the blood they drew.   Hemo-Tech
Hemo-Tech, is technology designed to be able to use hemoturgy more efficiently. Usually the modification are placed at the hands and arms of the hemoturgist, but there have been cases of hemoturgists getting hemo-tech into other areas of their body.   While the hemo-tech is in the body, the hemoturgist can use it as a faster conduit for casting hemoturgic spells.   Coloration of The Pools
Infernalis: Orange
Tempestas: Blue
Alluvium: Green
Evanidus: Silver
Inanis: Purple
Glacies: White
Caelestia: Yellow
Plaga: Red
  Bloodblight
Bloodblight is a type of sickness only contracted from the use of the Plaga pool. The sickness is takes the form of thorny branches like a tree.   Visualization of Casting
When a hemoturgist uses a hemoturgic spell using one of the pools, it will manifest differently per pool.   Infernalis:
When a hemoturgist uses the pool of Infernalis and pays the blood tax, the droplets of blood will spark and ignite into a blaze. This blaze can then be shaped into what ever the Hemoturgist needs.   Tempestas
When a hemoturgist uses the pool of Tempestas and pays the blood tax, the blood will start to spark and shape into electricity, until the hemoturgist holds a stream of lightning in their hands and release it.   Alluvium
When a hemoturgist uses the pool of Alluvium and pays the blood tax, the blood will begin to harden and turn into green stone. When the blood is dripped on the ground, it will seep into the ground leaving behind a green trail. From there, the hemoturgist can create controlled vibrations that can rattle the earth.   Evanidus
When a hemoturgist uses the pool of Evanidus and pays the blood toll, the blood will turn into a silvery film. This film is what the hemoturgist manipulates the temporal forces the pool of Evanidus has.   Inanis
When a hemoturgist invokes the pool of Inanis while paying the blood tax, the blood will form into a miniature and harmless black hole, until it's corona is completely a bright purple. The center of this miniature black hole is darker than pitch. This cosmic anomaly will then be ready for the hemoturgist to use.   Glacies
When a hemoturgist calls upon the powers of frost from the pool of Glacies and enacts a blood tax, the spilled ichor will start to crystalize and form into ice particles. When applied to a ice chunk, the chuck will start to shift and break from where it's being held. This ice is then usable by a skilled hemoturgist.   Caelestia
When a hemoturgist uses the blinding spells of the Caelestia pool while initiating the blood toll, the sacrificed blood will being to glow a bright golden yellow. This light will spread to every drop of blood the user has, spilled or not. The light will be usable by the hemoturgist, but they must act quickly or they shall suffer final death.   Plaga
