Jasper grew up in The River Rock Pack, his parents raised him to be faithful to The Circle of Roots and follow their rules and ideas. Be cautious of the packless, humans and their tools are tainted, and not to be trusted. He kept this belief into his adulthood. When the leader of the pack had passed Jasper requested for the honor to be the new leader, but he wasn’t the only one who requested to be leader. Another Oddcrura his age also volunteered, Marble. She was a strong and charismatic, a natural leader. Her fight with an Ashwalker well known to The Circle of Roots and they chose her with very little hesitation. Jasper was bitter about this, but not at Marble, he knows she would be a good leader. He only doubts her following of The Circle of Roots ideals, and her attitude towards outsiders and humans was much more lenient. This started to seed his doubt in The Circle of Roots decisions.
