Session 36: Termination, Frustration, and Determination -- Journey to the Stagnation

Notes on Emelia's curse: 1/3 of damage when she takes an action to cause it. Her summoned dragon only deals the damage to her on the first turn. Ongoing damage from concentration spells procs every turn they do damage. Does not double up with the extra acid spore damage; essentially gives her 1/3 damage on everything she rolls.   Lesser Restoration can suppress the exhaustion for hour / (casting) level.

General Summary

The Coast Guard settled in for a restful sleep, dreaming of the Baron's eyes boring into them. Calloway and Emelia felt the needling of thought detection and woke up, apparently "terminated"; both suffer from 1 level of permanent exhaustion. Calloway lost 1/4 of their total health and Emelia will take 1/3 of all damage she deals.
In the morning, Captain Sultana sends a message of dire tidings in Port Shimmerly after only 24 hours: “Spore eruptions inhibit breathing outdoors. Some have fallen ill. Greycap incursion in town. Undead sighted patrolling outskirts of town. Baron absconded. Gherd in pursuit.”
The group tries to figure out the mirror puzzle again. Unfortunately for everyone, Emelia is unable to draw a key good enough to work. It takes some doing (and a fruitless use of Wild Shape), but eventually Leaf remembers that he has in his possession a remarkably key-shaped object: a key to the Baron's home. Unlocking it reveals a new mural, where the Iverforts are signing a contract in Ylmyo-Aldon's book instead of exchanging rings. Below, a map to the Stagnation and the location of a hidden passage leading directly to the Mycotic Nexus is revealed. This potentially makes the Acropolis a safe place to bring Agaricans, where they might be able to use the Gate to leave the Domain of Decay.
Next, they investigated the Pit. After much deliberation, SNTR-1 rolled down into it. He noticed that gravity itself seemed stronger, pulling him towards the bottom with a force that increased the farther down he went. Before it became too strong, he sent a firebolt into the void. At the bottom, he saw a swirling mass of anti-psychic energy? It felt like the opposite of the psychic energy coursing through the walls of the Domain. It like like a hole punched into the bottom of the plane itself, and as he watched, the spores of Ylmyo-Aldon that allowed him to Spider Climb began to die. SNTR-1 rolled back up the hundreds of feet to the surface before falling.
Theorizing that the Pit might lead to the Shadowfell, Limbo, or some other dark plane, they decided to contact Port Shimmerly to send for Ixul’ichl’d. As a creature that can become incorporeal, they figured he would be able to investigate the Pit safely... plus, they have way more bargaining chips vis-a-vis secrets than they did last time he showed up. They also gave information back to their allies on the Material Plane.
Finally, the Coast Guard left Leshui to wait for their creepy friend and headed towards the Stagnation. A lil' fight with some mushrooms that wanted to eat their brains ensued.

TLDR:

Puzzles are solved. A map is revealed. A journey begins.
