1.24 & 25: Confrontation
General Summary
Upon entering Nehrlok's Cave, Tristian and Cheni Dimension Door'd up to Nai'ral, who tried to immediately kill Rhotel and Tristian. Cheni managed to convince the Chelu-kaan elves to doubt Nai'ral and deescalated the situation. With Rhotel bleeding out, Khalog came to collect his blood. After a signal from Nai'ral, he Misty Step'd to the forge and began the process.
The party worked to subdue the Gith, and combat ended when Creedence Dominated Nai'ral and directed her to knock out Khalog. With both Gith bound, the party attempted to interrogate Nai'ral.
Nai'ral was generally uncooperative. The party was told that the two Gith were there to make a magic weapon to take back to the Astral Plane and ostensibly be welcomed in a community from which they were exiled. Khalog said that after they forged the sword, they were going to leave, but that didn't seem like the whole truth.
Nai'ral and Khalog were from separate tribes, and they seemed at odds about where they were going to try to reenter Gith society. Khalog also wanted to bring the knowledge of this particular type of weaponsmithing to his people, but didn't appear to be aware of the fact that a weapon forged in Chelor's domain would have less potency elsewhere.
Nai'ral's other motivations remain murky. Khalog told everyone that she was bitter and had issues with the Gith who repudiated her. In an attempt to garner her trust or otherwise convince her to be more forthright, Coris shapechanged into a Gith -- a masculine version of her face as opposed to Khalog's. Despite a mediocre attempt at the Gith accent, he made an impact. Nai'ral glared at him and suddenly whipped her hands free from the shackles, grabbing for Coris's arm. Tristian reflexively Counterspelled, but was unable to prevent the spell from going off. Fortunately, Coris was able to avoid being touched by Nai'ral as she teleported away.
Khalog and Terin continued to work at the forge, with Cheni and Sultana beside them. Rhotel was stabilized and will make a full recovery. The Chelu-kaan have disappeared, having left during the fracas.
