1.22: A Tight Spot

General Summary

A pickup session. The party traveled through a long tunnel wiht low ceilings that only got lower as they walked. Creedence cast Seeming on the party, disguising them all as Cheloran cultists. After about 45 minutes of walking, Cheni noticed a rune written in what they now know to be Gith: "Open". The rune opened a short passage terminating in a relatively small natural cave with two beds, three chests, a desk, two chairs, and a patch of crystal on the wall. Creedence detected magical auras coming from two of the chests and from behind the crystal.   In front of the bed which was perfectly made was an empty, unlocked chest.   The chest in front of the more untidy bed was unlocked to reveal a set of ornately ornamented +1 Plate armor, a Cap of Water Breathing, a Rope of Climbing, and a Lantern of Revealing.   The third chest was unlocked and revealed to contain the Lost Miner's Pickaxe and a Periapt of Moonlight. Tristian decided to attune to the axe, which required him to reach out to one of the Chelu-kaan gods.   Coris spoke the command word "Dissolve" and the hidden compartment behind the crystal revealed a silver greatsword. With a flash of understanding (and a Nat 20), Coris suddenly knew what it meant: Gith. The sword has special properties for its maker, and functions as a +1 Silver greatsword otherwise.   The group began to wonder whether or not this presumed Avatar of Chelor was actually an imposter. After all, why would a non-Chelu-kaan bear the title? Would they even have had time to develop a relationship with Chelor in the short time since Lient'roc has been passable? At the same time, what reason would someone have to impersonate the Avatar if not to catalyze Chelor Dun?   The conversation apparently hit a nerve both with Cheni and Sultana. Cheni struggled with the implications of a continental being an Avatar, and Sultana argued that an outsider who had a profound change of faith could be just the catalyst Chelor needed to kickstart his ascension. Tristian scrutinized the intentions of his teammates and saw Cheni's distress, and also came to the realization that Sultana might have a personal stake when it comes to a change of faith.
