Isäldrin

The Isäldrin are one of the few peoples who make their home in the Northern Beastwilds and have gained a near-mythical reputation because of it. In tune with the spirits of the wilds and able to hold their own with ancient combat techniques, their ways are unknown to the outside world. With the wilds as vast as they are, the Isäldrin have little contact beyond those travelling or settling within the Beastwilds and they seem content with this state of things. Their lands are inhospitable as it is; they don't need wars getting in the way.

Common Etiquette rules

On the day of the porridge festival it's required for everyone to make a batch of porridge for their neighbours. They gather in the hall on the special day and share the bounty of the village, whilst exchanging pots and pans in a circle of laughing families. If someone finds a porridge spoon on their porch in the morning, however, this is often sign that someone didn't like your batch or wishes to settle a dispute. This, much like most issues amongst settlers in the Northern Beastwilds, is done through a duel between the two until one party can no longer stand up.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

"The beautiful are the brave" is the common motto amongst the Isäldrin. It is believed that altruism, strength and wisdom are required to be truly brave. Anything less is either selfish or reckless. This is reflected in how much the individual takes care of their own bodies, from their scars and wounds to simply hygiene.    Nothing is seen as more deserving of the word "beauty" more than the joy in being healthy. There are no set criteria for this, other than the person can sustain their own living and have the nutrients they need to live and excel. The ideal includes physical and mental sustenance, so it's expected for someone to keep their mind as sharp as their reflexes, especially in the years of retirement.
