Füster

Description

The Tukhamu Magas is a very geologically active, volcanic region where expulsions of ash, tephra and smoke are constant. Many threats hide in this smoke, not the least of which are the füsters, also known as chokers or smokeclaws. These elementals combine the elements of Air and Fire, appearing as semi-gaseous, winged creatures made of smoke.   Their elemental nature allows them to easily hide among the smoke and mist that settles in these volcanic mountains. They use this to their advantage to sneak up on unsuspecting prey before laying into them with their claws, fangs and wings. Their favorite tactic is to assume their gaseous form and force a bit of themselves into their prey, choking them out and carving them up from the inside.   As elementals, most conventional weapons do them little harm, which is why the people of Sárbolszég struggled so much with them before the construction of the Dragonforge. They are also immune to fire and poison, and even lightning does little against them as befitting of their nature as a half-fire, half-air elemental.

Intelligence and Behavior

Füsters are intelligent creatures, capable of advanced tactics and recognizing when a threat is too large for them to handle. They are selfish and malevolent creatures, who only care for indulging in their sadistic tendencies and hunting down prey. Thankfully they are generally reclusive, and only rarely hunt in pairs or groups. When they do gather together it is usually to procreate. They do not raise their young however, simply leaving them to fend for themselves. Only the strong survive in their mind.   As they have little use for material possessions, they do not create structures or lairs. They do however claim territory and are very much willing to fight to hold onto what they consider theirs. They usually settle around volcanoes, natural hot springs or areas ravaged by storms. After a disaster they can oftentimes be seen to gather around. Some speculate they simply appear for easy prey, while others think that they may have some hand in these disasters or perhaps gain energy from seeing the suffering these disasters cause. Whatever the case, they are creatures best avoided.
