The Mark
Overview
Some see a viscous material moving around the sky. Some see a haunting blue light. Others describe a moon as red as blood. A few claim to see an eye watching them from the sky at all times of the day and night. No one can define The Mark, and it appears differently to all who look upon it. Regardless of appearance, it is there for everyone. Be it goblin or elf, all who look to the sky see The Mark. It appeared nearly five decades ago and brought madness and destruction alongside it. Heroes betrayed their homelands, knights abandoned their posts, kings waged war over dark rumors heard in distant dreams, and slowly, the link between the mortal world and the realm of the Gods faded. Plimia entered a dark age, and many people forgot what peace looked like. Yet, the people live on in the face of total annihilation. Governments recovered, and the denizens of the world began learning to live with The Mark. In a world without heroes where death follows at every turn, one must learn to outlive those around them by any means possible. Mercenaries replaced heroes, and monsters took over wild areas.
But the people live on.
Manifestation
The Mark appears differently to all who gaze upon it. There are countless descriptions of it and some people claim it can take control of the mind if looked at for too long. Some grow nauseous under its appearance while others dance under it every night. The Mark is silent to some, thunderous to others. It is good and evil. Both the bringer of plague and the healing light of the world. Nothing in Plimia stands as a greater icon of chaos than The Mark and those who would worship it.
