Leaf Cuttaz

The Rise of the Leaf Cuttaz

The Leaf Cuttaz tribe traces its roots to the lush, overgrown forest known as the Emerald Thicket in the southern parts of Nedder Reach, where the trees grow tall and their canopies create an endless twilight. Goblins, often seen as scavengers and misfits of the wild, have long been drawn to this forest for its untapped resources. But among them, the Leaf Cuttaz were the first to rise to prominence by mastering the art of controlling the forest itself.

The tribe’s name comes from their distinctive way of life: they use crude but effective tools to cut down leaves, branches, and vines, crafting these into weapons, armor, and even homes. For the Leaf Cuttaz, the act of cutting leaves is not just practical—it’s ceremonial, symbolizing their dominance over nature’s chaos.

Origins and Survival

Legend has it that the Leaf Cuttaz began as an outcast band of goblins who fled persecution from stronger tribes. In the Northen parts of the Nedder Reach, they found sanctuary in the southern part of the Nedder Reach in a forest called Emerald Thicket but faced deadly predators, from prowling shadow cats to venomous bloodvines. Under the cunning leadership of a Goblin named Snipfang, they discovered that shaping the forest to their needs gave them power. They cut and carved paths through the thickets, creating secret routes and traps to fend off enemies.   Their success caught the attention of neighboring Goblin Tribes, who initially mocked their reliance on “leafy scraps.” But as Snipfang led his tribe in ambushes and raids using ingenious tools made from forest resources, the Leaf Cuttaz earned their reputation as fearsome fighters and masters of guerrilla warfare.

Enemies and Allies

The Leaf Cuttaz are often at odds with the Fenraith Tribe, a group of Wood-Elves who claim the Emerald Thicket as sacred ground. The Goblins and Wood-Elves have clashed for decades, with the Leaf Cuttaz launching ambushes on Wood-Elves patrols and defiling their shrines.   The Leaf Cuttaz often at war with the Tree Choppaz, a Savage Orc Tribe. when they do fight, the Leaf Cuttaz beat them back with Tricks and Traps.   Despite this hostility, the Leaf Cuttaz have a surprising ally in the Blackroot Ogres, who share the forest. The Goblins supply the Ogres with tools and traps, while the Ogres provide brute strength in battles against mutual foes.

Modern Leaf Cuttaz

Today, the Leaf Cuttaz are a thriving tribe, feared by travelers who dare enter the Emerald Thicket. Their sprawling village, Snipshade Hollow, is hidden beneath thick canopies and surrounded by a maze of traps. Though small in stature, their cunning and mastery of their environment make them a force to be reckoned with.     Rumors have begun to spread of a new leader, Grizzlethorn, who seeks to expand the Leaf Cuttaz’ reach beyond the forest, raising fears of a goblin scourge spreading to nearby towns and settlements.

Culture

The Leaf Cuttaz believe in Vinekra, a chaotic forest spirit they worship as both a protector and a destroyer. According to their lore, Vinekra’s favor can only be won by those who tame the forest but respect its power. This belief drives the tribe’s dual identity as both destroyers and stewards of the Emerald Thicket.   Their shamans, called Thorncallers, are responsible for communing with Vinekra through rituals involving sacred leaves, glowing sap, and thorny branches. The tribe’s warriors, known as Snippers, adorn themselves with sharp-edged leaves and bark-like armor, blending into their surroundings.
