College of Metal
Bards in the College of Metal learn to play their instruments with the speed of lightning and the anger of a thousand demons, their music inspires thier allies with bolstering lyrics and victorious riffs while causing their foes to tremble in fear with the sheer ferocity of the song.
Metal bards have weaponized their instruments and song to the point where they do not need other weapons. This, of course, does not mean that they are completely defenseless in close quarters combat; as many keep blades on their instrument honed to a razor's edge.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you join the college of metal at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with all armor and you can create a musical weapon. The instrument you use can be shaped and changed to a bladed weapon. Your instrument is still playable but gains the stat block of a weapon of your choice you are proficent with.Weaponized Music
Not all music is wrought of happy times and fields of grass. Some music comes screaming like a bat out of the nine hells, and it is the bards of metal who have learned that art of the darker music. 3rd Level, when in combat, you may use your bardic inspiration to instead invoke one of the following:- Face-Melter. Target makes a Constitution saving throw or take 1D8 psychic damage; or half as much on a succesful save.
- Mosh. Target makes a Wisdom saving throw or suffers disadvantage on their next attack roll due to being overwhelmed with blinding fury.
- Terrifying Song. Target must make a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for two rounds.
Resounding Riffs
At 6th level, you may target 2 creatures that are within sight when using abilities granted by the "weaponized music" trait.Heavy Metal
At 14th level, your mastery of metals is absolute. When you make a melee attack with your shredder, you may use a face-melter without expending a use of bardic inspiration.Dungeon Masters Guild: Matthew Pfister
