Soma Bread

Rather its Winter Quarter or Summer Quarter, blistering hot, or mind fumblingly cold, every time is a great time for Soma Bread. When this particular dish was first created, it was conceptualized by a Human noble, who then shared it with nearly every member of his court. It was only a matter of time before the town was ablaze with the word of this wonderful sweet bread that was rumored to contain the most succulent of meats and the most delectable spices one could afford. Ingredients are rather straight forward, if you had the coin to afford some of them.
  • Dirgan Grain Mix
  • Purified water w/ Soma Root extract
  • Sugar
  • Honey (Alight syrup could also work if one prefers)
  • Yeast
  • Seasoned meat of choice (Usually VERY expensive if you want it professionally cured and seasoned)
Soma bread is very easy to make, especially since the meat component of the dish is almost always already done (or in most cases, families already have a store of seasoned meat already handy), and it can be made anywhere you have access to an Infernal Oven (a magical piece of appliance essentially powered by a bound, lesser fire elemental). One must mix all the dry ingredients first, and then run it through a sifter to make sure nothing is clumping together, but the sifter must also allow for the wild grains to pass through as well. Once the dry components are thoroughly mixed, combine all the wet ingredients together into a large mixing bowl, whisking until completely blended, but not so much that it starts to foam or change consistency right away. And because of the honey, it makes it somewhat easy to fold in your dry component mixture. Folding is the important part since as its getting folded, the air trapped inside the now thickening mixture will help lock in some flavors once the meat component is added and backed in.   Once you have the dough made, roll it down to about a quarter of an inch and then lay out the meats across the dough, making sure to leave room to fold the dough over and seal it up. Place the bread into the oven and back at roughly 200 Degrees. Since it will take a while for the bread to cook and you don't want to heat it up too fast or the Soma Root Extract will essentially cause your bread to not only burn, but form a sort of inedible shell that if it was to be eaten, could prove toxic to man, woman or child alike.   This dish can be served by itself or with a tasty pint of spiced cider. Its truly a family friendly meal by itself or even a great addition to a large formal gathering.
