Utility
ID braces are utilized by every country in Phantasmer in order to keep track of citizens and streamline communication and information. The idea was to create something safe and reliable to hold personal data that could be easily transferred or utilized when needed. This led to include linking to things like a communicator, one's doorbell, the National Information Database, computers, and other ID braces. Now almost everyone in Phantasmer has one of at least the basic utilities, which include comm connection and NID connection.
ID braces are used for a wide variety of things. It acts as storage for everything from personal history and contacts to medical records and a person's societal ID number. It can be connected to a communicator which is clipped onto the ear and used like a phone. It's used to unlock one's house, transportation, safe, or devices. Information can be requested and passed between IDs with permission from both users. Even children use child ID braces, which have special programs in it such as a cartoon guide on the screen to lead a child to their destination, connection to their parents ID braces so they can be tracked and easily contacted, or law enforcement to be contacted if the child is in danger.
Manufacturing
ID braces are created in government-run factories by automatons. These are dispensed, repaired, and upgraded for free, though they can be given extra features for a price in most countries.
