“Come child,” the wizened dwarven druid Eridus said, leaning on his gnarled staff. His dark brown skin glistened with the sweat of the Sinatian summer. “Have I told you yet of the tale of how I witnessed Mesuda healed Auroch?” A winged snake flew over our head, its brightly colored wings reminding me of a parrot. Eridus and I were on our way to a sacred grove deep in the heart of the jungles of Sinat.
“No Master Eridus, you haven’t,” I lied. The story of Mesuda healing Auroch was one of the ancient dwarf’s favorite stories to tell, and unlike the knowledge of where the giants went, it was one of the few memories he still held onto. “Mesuda and I were wandering through the jungles, searching for a sacred grove when we stumbled across a mighty ox fighting a horde of fiends by itself. We watched as one of the demons struck a mortal blow across the beast’s forehead – right between its eyes,” Eridus tapped between his fuzzy white brows for emphasis before continuing, “Mesuda and I rushed to its aid, slaying many of the fiends and driving the rest away. I myself was but an apprentice at the time so I could not ease the suffering of the beast. But Mesuda could. She was a powerful druid even before becoming a goddess.”
The druid stopped for a moment and looked up into the sky, a soft smile playing across his wrinkled face. “The beast’s breathing eased and the pain faded from its eyes. There was a loud pop! And suddenly before us stood Auroch. He took Mesuda’s hands in his and thanked her. He asked her if there was anything he could do to repay us. Mesuda said that she wanted to live on as a protector and mother. Auroch nodded solemnly and said, ‘And so it shall be. You will be the goddess of nature and healing, and the Mother to all.”
“What about you, Master Eridus, what was your gift?” I asked. Eridus didn’t reply for a long time.
“My gift was you, my granddaughter,” he replied.

Goddess of Nature

Mesuda was a powerful Sne’therakian druid from Sinat. She tended to Auroch’s wounds when she was injured after a battle with Berik. Mesuda also helped to protect Sinat after Mount Sinat exploded during Morak’s battle with Thorki. Her symbol is a winged snake winding its way up a staff. Her favored weapon is the quarterstaff.
