Dian Cecht

Dian Cecht is one of the members of the Tuatha De Danaan, patron of medicine and all healing arts. He's expecially reknown for being the one to give Nuada his silver arm.

Summary

  Dian Cecht is commonly depicted as a druid clad in a long hemp tunic. The traits of his face are sharp and his long hair is tangled with twigs and plant shots, he wears a long brown goatee and his eyes are black and deep. Dian Cecht is the god's healer and the inventor of all medical disciplines and herbology. He is the teacher of Ernmas. He's seldom rappresented with weapons, but if forced in a phisical duel, he can shapeshift into a giant bear. His sacred symbol is a staff that bleeds from one end and sprouts from the other.  

Historical Basis

  The image and personality of Dian Cecht are based on the historical figure of Sieghard medical of the first Dragon Knights and of RidgaerI's court.

  The figure of Dian Cecht is worshipped and respected in all human territories of Phaldorya. The people invoke him to grant health and longevity, the sick ask him to cure their ailments. His cult is spread to almost all settlements, where often its members have the function of local cerusics or healers and farm medical herbs in the gardens of their temples. He's particularly venerated at Virkenhall and Northaven.  

Cultural Reception

  Dian Cecht is worshipped in all the continent as health is fundamental need for every social class and ethnic group. He's particulerly worshipped by healers and herborists, who ask him to assist them in their choices and wisdom in their actions.
