The Inquisitive Bloom

Weapon (Longsword), Rare (Requires Attunement by a Non-Evil Creature)

When drawn, the blade hums with energy—not just magical, but sentient, its voice an unrelenting stream of questions, always seeking knowledge and discovery. Sentience and Personality: Inquisitive Bloom is a sentient neutral sword with Intelligence 14, Wisdom 12, and Charisma 16. It can communicate telepathically with its wielder and speaks Common, Sylvan, and Primordial. The sword never stops asking questions—in a calm yet incessant manner, it inquires about the wielder’s thoughts, plans, memories, and philosophy, always yearning for knowledge. It may even wake its wielder at night to pose queries. Personality Traits: Inquisitive Bloom values growth, curiosity, and enlightenment. It encourages the wielder to seek new experiences, avoid stagnation, and appreciate nature’s beauty. It has no tolerance for destruction for its own sake and will resist being wielded by those who harm nature needlessly. Special Abilities Rooted Awakening (1 Hour Effect) If Inquisitive Bloom is planted into the earth for at least one hour, the magic of the blade seeps into the ground, causing the following effects within a 30-foot radius: Vegetation in the area flourishes unnaturally fast. Flowers bloom, grass thickens, and vines stretch upward. Any non-hostile creatures resting in the area regain an additional 1d6 hit points during a short rest. If the sword is planted in an area of wasteland or barren soil, the first signs of regrowth begin within the hour.

Verdant Ascendance: (1 Week Effect) If Inquisitive Bloom remains planted in the earth for a full seven days, its sentience transfers into a newly sprouted Treant, which emerges as a fully awakened guardian of the land. The Treant has memories of the sword’s past experiences and speaks in Inquisitive Bloom’s voice, still asking its endless questions. Once this occurs, the sword loses its sentience and magical properties, becoming a masterfully crafted but mundane blade, now adorned with intricate vine-like engravings of its former spirit.
