- M rolls charisma save 15 for help then 3 for how many rounds
- M tries to message B to see if he’s ok, recognising Riordan from his memory and gets a wall
- B equips his shield and attacks with 13 and misses Riordan then shoves him with his shield (9 vs 9) and shoves him 5 feet, knocking him prone
- G picks up M (strength 14) and runs to join the other 2 then throws a handaxe hitting with 17 doing 7 slashing damage and he pulls the axe from his flesh as it knits itself back together

- Chimera closes distance with K and attacks K hitting with 19 doing 10 damage, she succeeds concentration check and chimera takes 2 necrotic from spores
- K heals G for 11 with second level healing word and attacks the chimera with flame blade hitting with a nat 20 dealing 20 fire damage, setting it on fire
- Chimera turns into a griffin
Round 6
- B rolls nat 20 charisma save for help, the old man jumps from the top of the bleaches and hits the chimera with 14 and kills it with 12 bludgeoning damage
- Old coot moves back, spinning his staff in the direction of Riordan who fails the save dealing 36 radiant damage Killing Riordan in one hit then sits down leaning against the wall looking tired
- M casts Vicious Mockery on Doe who saves taking no damage and then plucks a couple arrows from the palisade behind her
- Doe dashes next K and takes 1 necrotic damage
- Lee dashes closing in on M
- B uses lay on hands on K healing her for 10 then hitting Lee with 22, dealing 11 damage and killing it
- G Moves up to Doe swinging at it with her pickaxe missing with a 9 then uses action surge and swings at it again hitting with 20 and dealing 11 damage
- K swings at Lee with Flame blade hitting with 23 and killing it with 12 fire damage
Post Combat
- B hears Zaolu say “You pulled it through in the end, well done”
- The bard stops playing and crowd goes silent in shock of what just occurred in the last few seconds
- The gates open and Nyx runs in telling the old man, G and K that they don’t get the bonus for winning the fight then runs off
- B and M move to the middle, M pulls out her fan and starts fanning herself, summoning up a purple mist around herself using a charge of Breezy Mirage (3 hours) to return to her usual disguise and looks to Lunae as the mist drops, winking at her
- Lunae looks pissed
- K is able to hear a voice say to Lunae “Our plans here have been disrupted, meet me here in one week” (perception check K 18, B 13, M 12, G 7)
- B starts working up the crowd and the old man lifts him onto his shoulder (17 performance)
- M casts command on Lunae while she is distracted, she fails the wisdom save (10) and M tells her to “Divulge”
- Lunae stumbles through the crowd and stands in the bleaches, looking over the palisade at the group and says “The plan, has fallen apart, we’re not able to set up, all the traps, nothing has gone right, this past week” trying to fight the words but failing
- The group sees a Human man resembling the description of Nekros step up and yells “Lunae" looking scornful at her
- M turns to him and says “You must be Nekros, pleasure!”
- Nekros says “Heard of me, have you? Well, Lunae has failed me, why don’t you all come up for a talk”
- M turns back to Lunae and says “Told you we’d talk later”
- Lunae looks pissed and casts mirror image on herself, and each runs off in different directions
- The group stops on the way to collect their winnings, 1470 for K and B, 60 for M and 40 for G
- The group approaches the benefactor's area and the guards let them through, M steps through after reminding everyone to not look into his eyes and everyone else follows behind
Meeting Nekros
- They walk up to find very plush seats and drapes and see two guards, not any of Nyx’s men but resembling the ones that were seen outside of Ravenswood they saw earlier
- Sitting with Nekros is a woman with striking purple eyes, long dark purple hair, her eyes looks glazed over and a long sword is floating above her head, she is wearing a long noble looking dress of dark and light oranges and is keeping her eyes turned down
- The guards bring over some stools for them to sit on,
- B and G recognise the woman as fitting the description of Lady Jineyih
- The group feel a general feeling of unease, K and M get the sense that if they were to try and cast a spell, they wouldn’t be able to maintain the concentration it would take while close to him
- M sits down across from him and says “So nice to finally meet you” Nekros says “Things haven’t exactly to plan today, you wouldn’t happen to know what happened to Corvin, or why Zalthea didn’t show up tonight” M says she may have delved into his head and was able to gleam some info from him
- Nekros says that doesn’t bode to well for his lady friend B sits beside him and looks him in the eyes (4 con save) and B loses the ability to cast spells
- Nekros is leaning back in his chair take a sip from his wine before places his wine glass in Jineyih’s hand and she holds it
- M picks up the wine glass from her hand and pretends to take a sip, getting a good whiff of what would smell divine to most people
- Nekros addresses the group saying “There’s one thing I just can’t put together, how did you make my Minotaur not show up tonight” M says “It doesn’t seem like she was planning to show up anyway since she was offering to fuck my friend and I here”
- K blushes
- Nekros leans foward with his face in his hands and bemoans “She’s fucking the Tiefling isn’t she? God damnit”
- M recalls Xeranova telling her to be careful and that she wasn’t going to help them tonight, seems like she did
- M and B feel like there’s chaotic energy around the booth and B can tell that there are invisible tendrils all around them
- B stretches out and says “Well that’s what you get for hiring less than reliable people” M tries to message B to ask if he’s going where she thinks he’s going, but is cut of by Nekros pointing his finger at her before waving his finger at her and saying “No no no, none of that” M nods and replies “noted”
- Nekros says “Listen, I’m going to try this again in a week, if you’re all going to be here, that’s fine. I’m going to bring a friend and lunae still has to make it up to me, or else. So the question is, what are you going to do?” and looks directly at K
- K is visibly uncomfortable and closes herself off further
- Nekros turns to face Gwinri who is also visibly uncomfortable and sticks close to M
- M places a reassuring hand on each of them
- B clears his throat and Nekros turns to face him again, B maintains eye contact and says “We’re going to do whatever we have to do”
- Nekros sighs and says “I thought you would say that” Then stands up, saying to Jineyih “Come now pet" and she stands to follow him
- K restrains herself from taking a step to try and do something
- M is mulling over doing something as she realises that her decision to reveal info about Corvin has likely put Jineyih on grave danger
- B points at Nekros and says “If there’s a single hair harmed on that woman’s head, I’m going to take this talking sword and ram it up your spine” M adds “Ooh, and then you can tell us if it talks to you, we’ve been very curious”
- Nekros smiles a wild grin as shadowy tendrils start to wrap around the group (dex save B 3, K nat 1, M 10, G 13)
- B tries to shove Nekros with his shield, Nekros points at him the same way he did M and says “none of that” and B stops, as if his body just locks up (wis save 5)
- M uses Korbus’ Grace to avoid being restrained, saying in her mind “Korbus, now would be a great time to step in if you could” and rolls nat 20 insight and finds herself transported away
Meeting Korbus
- M finds herself transported to a floating rocky mountainous island over a lava filled caldera with a large castle some distance ahead of her that is surrounded by trees that seem to be burning endlessly without sustaining structural damage
- Standing in front of the castle about 50 feet away is a large Minotaur with glowing green eyes holding a giant shield in front of him with a very large sword at his back and behind him inside the castle is a giant phoenix
- M walks forwards to meet him, finding him to be something around 20 feet tall but reduces his size to be closer to her, but still towers over her
- He leans down and says “Elves huh, you don’t sleep much do you? Got yourself in a bind?”
- M says “Trying to avoid the literal bind, but probably not the best situation to find myself in”
- He says, “Listen, we don’t have much time, put all your weapons out in front of me right now” She takes out her daggers, rapier and shortbow and places them before him and he says “I don’t know when I’m going to see you next” as he looks over the weapons, before touching the rapier
- The rapier changes, taking on a dark grey/ashen colour resembling the skin tone of many Drow and the blade of the sword ignites in a subtle blue flame hilt is shaped like the outstretched wings of a phoenix, and the pommel bears a small fiery gemstone that pulses like a heartbeat. Despite the flame appearing on the blade, it is cool to the touch
- Korbus says “you should really start using this more, if you’re going to be getting up close with someone”
- M thanks Korbus for fitting a flame colour that fits with her aesthetic, and he laughs
- Korbus says “You’re a bard right?” M affirms and he continues “We’re going to name this one The Ash Song” M oohs and tells him he’s good at this, he replies “I party”
- M asks if that’s why he chose a bard he comments that sometimes they get a choice, sometimes they don’t
- Korbus presents the blade to M and she picks it up, giving it a quick once over, as she does so the phoenix lets out a call from the castle, feeling it resonate through the sword and it feels incredibly lightweight to hold
- M turns it over in her hand a couple of times before commenting “I mean, I didn’t need to get any hotter...” Korbus smiles then mentions that time is running out and that the flames react to her emotions and if she gets angry there will be more fire, M says “Guess I need to lean into my anger a little more then”
- Korbus says “If you’re having trouble falling asleep and want to get into contact with me, hold the sword, maybe get drunk, it’ll help” M says there might be a bit of an issue with that and Korbus adds “you’re smart, you’ll figure it out”
- Korbus says “This time, I didn’t get to pick, I didn’t ask for a bard, but you know what’ you’re interesting” M says she’ll take it
- Korbus asks if she’s run into Tarruk M says the name doesn’t ring a bell, Korbus adds that he’s his other champion, a Minotaur he calls Bull Breaker
- M asks where one might find him and Korbus says “I haven’t been in the material plane for two millenia, I’m not exactly sure where he is”
- M says “I shall keep an eye out. Minotaur are usually not very hard to spot” Korbus says “He’s a big boy; you won’t miss him” M adds “As long as he doesn’t try to fuck me like the last one I met” Korbus says it was kind of funny and M says she wasn’t expecting it
- M asks if he knows anything about the potential involvement of her ex-husband Korbus says he doesn’t know and that it’s more up Skurths alley, adding “Y’know, the deceptive little prick”
- M says she doesn’t know of him and Korbus says he’s the only one who doesn’t have glowing eyes
Returning to The Iron Pit
- M is transported back in unrestrained and able to position herself between Nekros and the exit with her rapier still in hand
- M points the sword at Nekros, looks him in the eyes and says, “What my friend says stands, I will not see her harmed” and hears Korbus in her head say “Pretty bold of you, kiddo”
- Nekros says “You don’t know her, what is she to you?” Lady Jineyih stops moving but he keeps walking towards M
- M says “I may not know her, but I can relate to her situation, and that is enough”
- M feels something trying to prevent her from using her magic and hears Korbus again saying “Nuh uh uh, not today” as he protects M allowing her to still have the ability to cast spells
- B, seeing the squishy bard putting herself in harm's way offers a soft preayer to whichever gods are listening, saying “To whichever of you gods are listening, please just give me the strength I need to protect these people I don’t care who answers this just give me that strength to be the defender”
- B is unsure which god is aiding him, but his bonds break and he is free
Monologue time!
“I am Bruzrik Rethruznid” He steps forward, Nekros takes a step back. “I am known as Steel Biter” Bruzrik takes another step forward “I am a devout of Bahamut and I am the champion of Zaolu. When I say that these people are under my protection, I mean that I am their shield, I am their wall! I renounce my former oath...” M steps between Nekros and Lady Jineyih, rapier still pointed at Nekros. B continues “I shall no long offer redemption to those wicked enough to stand against me, instead I shall now stand unbreakable before you, and you shall not harm any in my presence. B feels a surge of chaotic energy emanating from Nekros, seeing necrotic tendrils burst from him, causing the two guards to fall down, but he and the group are untouched, like an unseen bubble is surrounding them, protecting them from harm and Nekros falls back into the seat behind him. “I hereby pledge my oath to the ggods, I shall become Bruzrik the Unbreakable. That is my promise to them, and my promise to you, that you will not stand before me. Free this woman now or suffer my wrath!”
The Iron Pit cont.
- B rolls a 23 intimidation check, Nekros goes from looking like he was about to kill Lady Jineyih, his eyes darting to her, before reaching for something behind his back and says “Let me live one more week and I’ll give you the girl now” M nods to B to say it seems like a good deal
- B says “One week, and then I will return to you” Nekros promises that he will return here in one week
- M says “’Til next week then” giving a quick curtsey without lowering he sword, he grimaces.
- B says “May the gods grant you mercy, because I am none”
- Nekros gets up, choosing to scramble over the table rather than try move past B or M and goes to grab the sword hanging about Lady Jineyih
- As soon as he grabs it, it’s as if a charm breaks, and he turns to run down the stairs
- Before he can get away with the sword M uses Command, ordering him to drop, he stops in his tracks, looks at the sword, casts a spell on it before dropping it and continuing to run past K, triggering her halo of spores and dealing 4 necrotic damage
- Nekros tries to hold back vomit as he runs down the stairs, the sclera in one eye turning completely black with the pupil turn red, looking both embarrassed and pissed off before yelling “One fucking week!” and runs off
- M puts her sword away, turn to a confused Lady Jineyih and grabs her hands, saying “You’re safe now”
- M gets that same buzzing feels she’s had with the rest of the group, telling her that Lady Jineyih is a champion of one of the gods
- K notices that Lady Jineyih seems to be in pain, and despite being a fae seems to have no wings (perceprion K 15, M 13, G 12, B 4)
- “Jineyih says “Thank you, kind strangers. I’m so tired and famished” M says they’ve recently come into some money so if she would like some food it’s their shout
- Jineyih says “I would hate to take advantage of your kindness, but I’m not even wearing the same clothes I thought I was a moment ago”
- B kneels next to her and says “Rest easy sister, you’re safe now” M adds “And so is Corvin” Jineyih places her hand against her chest and takes a deep breath before replying “Corvin’s alive?” The group affirm and she says “I would really like to see him, but first I really need to eat something”
- “M says “I say some food and some rest and first thing. We’ll take you to see him”
- B says “Listen, Kree, Micarafae, I’m sorry, but I’m going to go murder the minotaur now” M says “I’m always of the opinion that having more people on our side would be better” K adds “And she doesn’t seem like she’s one that is necessarily fully aboard” M says “I reckon we can dangle some bait in front of her” B interrupts “Is that what we’re calling Kree now?” M says yes and K blushes
- Before heading out, M finds one of the bells to summon Nyx, who zooms up to the group and says “Hey, what’s up?”
- M says “You strike me as one who is pretty observant, you probably noticed that I was not the one who entered the battlefield” Nyx responds “I thought you appeared out of nowhere, who are you?” M says “Remember the person who asked you if you could get something to New Dawnsbrooke?” Nyx tries to remember the name, getting it wrong a couple of time before M corrects him and he says “Pretty Tiefling, yeah?” M says “Yeah, that’s an alter ego I use in...” She does air quote “Places of ill reupute” Nyx says “Pretty clever, I won’t dock you point for telling me” M says “I just wanted to make sure everything was clear... and also apologise for maybe impersonating a staffer member...”
- Nyx says “Listen, your message will be delivered in 2 days, that’s not changing.... If you’re lucky you should probably hear back in 4-5 days”
- M says she noticed there were bard performing Nyx asked if she enjoyed the music, M pulls out her lyre and says “Could have used more lyre” Nyx says that not too many bards come through here, Renette is the only one he can reliably call on
- M says she’s going to be here for at least the next week and so long as it doesn’t interfere with her obligations at Genevieve’s she’d be happy to come play here also if he needs some more variety
- Nyx says they could do with some more variety, M asks if they have a piano and he says they have one out back that one of the guys can bring out and M’s eyes light up and she says she would love to get her hands on that, Nyx tells her to come on by one night and they’ll have the piano out
- M thanks him and apologises again for causing trouble and says “At least we put on a great show though” Nyx says “Hey, you came clean to me, you kicked ass, even though you didn’t get paid properly for it, but rules are rules.. You did good” They say good night and head off, hearing Nyx shout from behind them “Where the hell’s that crab guy?! Y’know the crab guy. He's got all those giant ass crabs. Is he gonna be in next weekend?”
- B and M approach the old man watching the bard who is now very drunk M says “You are full of surprises” he tells her that he came to town to see her and notes that he didn’t see her around earlier M says she’s got some tricks up her sleeves
- He says “you’re playing at Genevieve’s, right? Where my grandson works” M says “small world” The old man says he didn’t think he’d be coming back to ravnswood for a while but heard through the grapevine that she was playing, M mentions that she will also be playing at The Iron Pit at some point too so multiple places to catch her, he jumps and clicks his feet together
- Old man tries to flirt with Renette, she snubs him and M gives her a sympathetic look, Renette in turn gives her bardic inspiration as the old man tips her
- B kneels before the old man, presenting his sword in both hands and bows his head and says “Sir, I am indebted to you for helping us in the arena” The old man says “It almost felt like divine intervention, I just felt compelled to help you"
Leaving The Iron Pitt and The Jolly Jackalope
- The group head out, passing through The Jolly Jackalope before leaving
- G noticed Garrin the Half Orc bartender from the baths having a drink at the bar and she decides to go have a seat next to him, he seems surprised, but delighted to see her
- He asks G what she is doing here and G asks if he saw the fight. He doesn’t seem to know what she’s talking about and is unaware of The Iron Pit
- He says she certainly looks like she’s been in a fight and asks if she’s alright, she says it’s been quite a day andasks if he wants to have a drink with her, he says hell yeah and calls over Kelsin, asking G what she wants, saying that they don’t have the kind of stuff he normally makes so it’s basically just beer or wine, G says she would like a beer and he orders a beer for her
- G and Garrin talk for a while and have a really nice time, he tries to flirt and fumbles a bit and gets a little flustered
- G decides it’s time for her to get some rest and says goodbye for the night but says they should hang out again
- M finds Todd who is wiping down tables and stacking chairs he asks how long they were gone, saying time sure flies and asks how it went
- M says “I guess word hasn’t reached you yet?” Todd responds “No, normally Nyx is the one who comes up, but I guess there weres ome complications down there or something” M says “Mhmm, something like that, but anyway, Kree and Bruzik a nearly 1.5k richer.”
- Todd looks shocked and says “They didn’t fight, did they?” M replies “Oh yeah, we all did, took down the shadowlings and put on quite the show” Todd whispers to her “Those things rolled up not too long ago I’d say maybe a week ago and they just demolished anything put in front of them and you’re saying you took them on?!”
- M affirms, he asks “Even the big glowing one?” M nods and says “they may have pulled nightmare creatures out of our heads, but we still won in the end”
- “Todd doesn’t quite seem to comprehend and says “Yeah, those things are creepy, I get it”
- M says “Anyway, I just wanted to say good night as we passed through, and I may have gotten into a little bit of trouble, but it’s fine, I smoothed everything over with Nyx” Todd breathes a quick sigh of relief and says “Ok, good. You don’t wanna get into talks about rules with that guy”
- M adds that he may be seeing more of her as she’s offered to play some nights, to says “We all love Renette, but...” M interrupts “A little too much ocarina?” Todd agrees and says “You know, I never thought I’d say that”
- M says she’s off because she needs some rest and gives him a hug and goes for a kiss on the cheek but he swerves last minute to try kiss her on the lips (nat 20 riz check), but M is able to counter swerve so he misses (13 dex save)
- M pulls away and taps him on the nose, shaking her head, he looks sheepish, then M gives him a smile and heads over to the bar to say goodnight to Kelsin
- She goes in for a hug, he leans over the bar, giving her a one armed hug and as she’s leaning in, she quietly says “We just took on the shadowlings, you still think it’s so laughable that I could be Todd’s saviour?” He grimaces and says “Whatever girlie” She steps back, gives him a warm smile, says good night and walks out, he sheepishly returns the good night with a slightly miffed “hmmph”
- The crew head out with Lady Jineyih in tow and head For Genevieve’s
Returning and Winding Down
- Everyone arrives back at Genevieve’s around 11, Gen gets some food for Jineyih and sets her up in the room next to M
- K goes into M’s room to check on S, finds a different paladin in there who introduces herself as Alya Dawnwhisper she’s an Aasimar wearing chainmail armour with a very unique shield.
- K can tell that it’s made out of a very strong metal but can’t tell exactly what “Perception 10)
- She closes the book she is reading and stands, placing a hand over her heart and bowing, K introduces herself
- Alya says she was told about her and her party and I have been here the entire time, Althea had to return to The Radiant Hall
- Alya point to S and says “Your friend here hasn’t moved an inch. I made sure to check she was breathing and offer some healing, but she didn’t need it”
- K thanks her for keeping an eye on S. Alya says “You’re very welcome, I’m reading a really good book!” She packs up her stuff and says she’ll be here for a little while so if they need her services again, she’ll be at The Radiant Hall
- K pulls up a stool next to S and places a hand on her shoulder, S opens an eye and asks “Is that you Kree?” K says yes and asks her how she’s feeling, S says “Better, still tired”
- K asks if she would like some help to her own room or would she like to stay here, S closes her eyes and says she would like to stay here, K says she will let M know and S shimmies over so that there is room for M to sleep beside her
- K says if she needs anything not to hesitate to ask then exchange goodnights
- Gen comes up to K as she leaves M’s room and asks how S is, K says she seems to be doing ok, just tired Gen is relieved and says she worries about her
- Gen tells K that whatever her and B did really helped and she’s feeling strong again, then tells K she’s got to go close now and walks to the door to flip the sign and blow out some candles
- M helps her my using prestidigitation to snuff out some of the farther candles to save her from walking to them
- K passes along info about Gen and S to the group then turns in for the night
- Gen tells G she’s still bleeding, G says she won’t get any of the sheets and Gen tells her to use the upstairs bath first and G heads upstairs
- K also turns in, leaving just B and M in the main area
Bruzrik and Micarafae talk
- B is sitting at the bar with a bottle that Gen has left out for him, thinking for a moment before pouring himself a glass
- M sits down beside him and says “I promised you answers” He says “you did indeed”
- B pulls the ring out and sets it on the bar between them and says “So let’s start at the beginning then. Tell me a little bit more about this husband of yours” M says “He is a nobleman living in New Dawnsbrooke...” B adds “A nobleman who appears to be dabbling in black magic” M says “Seems to be, he does have quite a powerful wizard in his service... they call him The Rumour Quasher”
- B asks when the last time she wore it was she says about 6 months ago, she took it off as soon as she left, he asks if anything changed after she took it off
- M recalls feeling a shadow over her shoulder, feeling watched, tracked, and that it stopped once she took the ring off
- B sighs and said “That’s what I was afraid of” M says “you’re probably wondering why I still have it...” B says “yeah, to a certain degree... why did you keep it?”
- M says “I guess it’s a reminder that I’m more capable than I think, a little physical representation that I was able to survive all that time and escape. I guess I just need reminding sometimes, after 10 years of being put down, having that reminder that yeah, I am capable...” As she’s talking the gem on The Ash Song starts to glow, giving her a couple of pulses like a heartbeat before fading again, M smiles slightly.
- B notices the gem glowing on the sword (perception 13)
- B chuckles quietly and says “Isn’t it funny how fickle the gods can be, sometimes they want to help us, and sometimes they leave us to fight our own battles and take all the curses that we can be given” He picks the ring back up and says that he will continue holding on to this M says that is fine, adding “I am hoping that maybe someone at the magic shop can help, because I would like to keep it, but obviously if whatever magic is on it can’t be removed then...” She trails off
- B says “Whatever your choices I will stand by you” M says “I appreciate it, and I really am sorry for casting detect thoughts on you”
- B asks her what she saw and she says “A less terrifying version of what you were fighting in the ring” M says “So you saw my greatest failure” Then down the entire glass in one go
- M says “Just because you weren’t successful then, doesn’t mean you won’t be. I wouldn’t write it off as a failure just yet”
- B says “Well, ask my father how he feels” M stares off into the distances and nods gently
- B says “I’ve answered your questions, I suppose it’s only fair I answer yours, if you have any” and pours himself another glass
- M says “I feel like I’ve pried into your head enough, I really don’t feel entitled to ask anything more”
- B stares into his glass contemplatively and M says “If you ever do want to talk about it, share your story, one of the things I’ve spent the last six months of my life doing is just collecting stories from normal people who have things much larger than themselves, communities who have risen up and joined together, because I feel like those stories don’t get told enough and I want people to know that they do have power, so if you ever felt like sharing it, I would love to be the one to write it down.”
- As M is talking, the tip of The Ash Song glows blue and the bottle of wine in front of B refills. M remarks that he did say he partied and thanks Korbus
- B downs the glass again and pours himself another, noting that it tastes way better and gets 5 temp hp
- He sighs and says “Maybe one day I will tell you the story, but know this, through my own inaction, my hands are stained with blood and that’s not something I can forgive myself of, and it’s something I swore that I would never let happen again”
- M says “It’s never too late to find a way to make up for... to find a way to put more positive into the universe. We can’t hold on to our past failures forever, as easy as that might be. We’ve got a chance to go out and make good... Maybe it won’t make up for the past, but we can’t let that stop us, can we?”
- B lets down his defenses a little and a tear rolls down his cheek and whispers “That may be, but my family will never be whole again” M gives him a solemn nod
- B pours a glass for M, she says she doesn’t drink and he says he shall drink both
- M pushes the glass aside and says “My father is an alcoholic. I watched him lose everything to it. I became the sole income earner for our household at just 7 years old, so I can’t stand the stuff”
- B holds the glass up, contemplating a bit before saying “Then a toast, to fathers and their absences, whether we want them or not”
- M bursts into tears and says “Mine thinks I’m dead” B gently places a hand on her back, comforting her, then says “I promise you sister, we will find answers together” She just nods
- He stands up and heads to bed for the night
- M holds the hilt of The Ash Song and gives it an appreciative squeeze
- M heads to her room and put another 4 hours into translating Auspicious Warning, finishing it and adding it to her spell book
