At The Radiant Hall
- M asks Corvin for physical details, Nekros always cloaked, face obscured, Lunae has long silver hair, sometimes up in a bun, pale pink eyes, always wearing a cloak that has kind of spectral tendrils, often casts invis, Zalthea is a Minotaur woman, also wears a cloak
- M rolls a 22 perception and notices Althea put her hand on his middle back to guide him, arches as if he’s in pain but doesn’t say anything, noting he didn’t get hit in the back during the fight
- M says she wants to quickly write everything down and then the group should come up with a plan before they do anything
- M says she personally would like a bath since they’ll be walking back past it and Zalthea is said to frequent there
- M ponders if Todd runs The Iron Pit and says he’s at least a good person to ask so they should seek him out too
- B says he’s going to go and kick the door in and M says she could also disguise herself and try get info about or from Lunae, or Zalthea if they stop at the baths
- B Suggests they stop by the magic shop to see what’s going on with the ring and music box and also see if they potentially have anything that could be a means of M being able to signal while she’s under cover if she needs help from the group
- M reminds K that they promised Thalos at the library that they would involve him in anything regarding the jackrabbit, K says that isn’t on any time limit so they should get everything taken else taken care of first
- M asks the group if they feel like they need to be keeping a low profile while heading back into town and decide to just take the main road back into Ravenswood
- M asks Althea if the group can have her help if shit goes down she says where would be the best place for her to be, M says maybe the center of town, they don’t know exactly where things will be going down so they can’t be specific at this time, Althea asks where they are staying and says she will meet them at Genevieve's
- M says if they timing is right Althea might be able to catch her performing, Althea looks interested and says “Oh, you sing?” M holds up her lyre and says she also plays the lyre, but she has been absolutely dying to play the piano and that it has been too long since she got the chance
- B picks up M and walks out the door saying “You can hit on every other woman next time” M replies “I was not hitting on her, how dare you!”
Heading back to town
- The group head back into town and encounter guards that look like they have thrown on another set of armour on top of their as a guise blocking the bridge in front of the gate which is now closed
- M, K and B notice them but G doesn’t, B grabs her and M pretends to have seen something on her to not seem sus
- B says he has a plan and to be prepared to run, M says she could just talk to them, he tells her to just trust him, she relents
- Everyone hears the guards say the orders are to catch the Fairy
- M tosses her fan to S and tells her to use a charge to disguise herself
- S disguises herself as Alaric
- B steps forward and greets the guards jovially
- One of the guards asks what they can do, B says he’s a paladin from the Radiant hall and found some wanderers lost in the woods, the guards let everyone pass
- One of the guards puts an arm out to block K and asks if she knows any fairies K says she doesn’t, one of the other guards says to him “Just because she has wings doesn’t mean she knows any fairies”
- S puts a hand on G asks her to hold still and S pulls out a small wand
- M tries to distract the guards and all but one of them surround her, enamoured with her
- S is really trying to produce magic and lets out a big frustrated sigh and says to G she doesn’t know what she’ll do if it turns into a fight
- S decides to try to pretend to be some noble and G is her escort
- M starts to sing trying to draw as much attention as possible
- B places a hand on the other guards should and says “you are making my friends a little nervous” and the guard is visibly intimidated. B tries to grip his shoulder as a show of strength but the guard shrugs it off and takes a step back away from him.
- One guard stops S and recognizes Alaric and says he just saw him at the inn
- M says he was showing her his favourite spot in the woods and gives them a wink,he doubts that he would be able to have moved between the inn and there in the time since and M whispers to the guard that “he was very quick” and B says “Haven’t you idiots heard of twins” and intimidates them, M Follows it up by faking a realisation, saying “oh, that’s why he wasn’t as good as last time”
- B pretends to be annoyed at the group for keeping him from being able to get back to his work
- One of the guards says to B “Who do you think you are, talking to us like that?”
- S squeezes through to be between M and G
- The head guard decides to let the group pass and starts to walk towards the gate to open it
- The guards seem to be having trouble opening the gate, fumbling it and seeming like they’re unsure of how to do it, opting to just break it after many minutes of struggling with it
- M asks if they don’t close the gate very often, commenting on how it seems to be “a bit stuck” pretty sure that they are in fact not the town guard, two of them exchange a knowing look and say they’re not super great with it
- The group pass through and the guards don’t close it behind them
- B claps M on the back and says “See, and you didn’t believe I could do it without killing everybody” She says that she never said she didn’t think he could and that she’s just always prepared for the worst
- S asks if she should keep the disguise up or not, B tells her to hold it until they’re somewhere safe
- The party decide to forego their plans and head straight back to the inn to keep S safe
- As they’re walking back M walks up along B and apologises for trying to pickpocket him, that she panicked and that she appreciates him trying to look out for her, that it’s been a long time since anyone has
- B stops her by holding up his hand, saying “Sister, you don’t need to explain yourself to me. I just don’t want you getting hurt more than you already have been”
- M asks if she can say one more thing, adding that she has spent the last 10 years of her life with little to no control over her actions, that almost every decision was made for her, and the last six months have been so liberating in having the freedom to choose for herself, even when her actions have unwanted consequences. She asks that he not put her in a situation where choices are being made for her or where she feels she doesn’t have a choice.
- B says as long as there is blood left in his veins she’ll never have to fear for her freedom again but that he doesn’t trust whatever her former husband did to the ring, she says she doesn’t either and there’s a reason she’s still letting him carry it. B tells M the choice will always be hers and she thanks him
- S calls K over to her, she holds her hands out, still disguised as Alaric, asking K if she can give her her magic back, K takes her hands the background buzzing has become a rapid pulsing, sensing whatever magic is left in her is fading and close to gone
- K says she could try to help, but they probably need to find out what the problem is in the first place
- K gives her hands a little squeeze and says to tell her more once they’re back at the inn
- Walking through the town the group see guards, looking completely different to the ones they just saw at the gate, they are patrolling in pairs and see two pairs meet up to talk
Back at Genevieve's
- The gang arrive back at the in around 4pm, going in the back door as to not startle Alaric when he sees himself walk it
- The inn in fairly busy and Alaric looks panicked, like he has too much on his plate and Gen is nowhere to be seen.
- M asks if everything is ok, he says he hasn’t really got any time, Gen is where she was when the party left and he hasn’t had time to check on her and that the weekend guy hasn’t come in so he’s doing everything himself
- M, without thinking and wanting to try to help, turns to B and says “you cook right?”
- He asks her how she knew that and that she explains that she picked up that B seemed emotional when Althea said the cooking was always great and that she also may have cast detect thoughts on Althea when things got tense because she wanted to make sure things weren’t going to get heated
- B narrows his eyes at M and says “It wasn’t just Althea that you used detect thoughts on…”
- M notices S in a corner trying desperately to get her magic to work and M swoops in to grab her, leaving B without saying anything and tells S they should go somewhere else
- When M touches S she no longer feels any buzzing or anything, it’s completely gone
- B watches M suspiciously but joins G and K as they go to check on Gen
In Micarafae’s Room
- M brings S into her room and says “So… this seems bad”
- M sees S starting to freak out and tears welling in her eyes and grabs her hands, saying “I think I know someone who may be able to help, but they are not close and they are somewhere I’d prefer not to return to, but if anyone was to know what is going on, I think it would be him”
- S sighs and says “I’m just so tired of feeling helpless” M commiserates as S holds herself, continuing to say “You just don’t understand how scary it is to not have your memories, everything’s just flashes”
- M puts an arm around her and says she can relate a little, that sometimes when you go through something bad enough, your brain decides it’s best to lock those memories away, that she has holes in her memory from the last 10 years and it is frightening
- S says she feels like she knows who she is but she’s not entirely sure and asks M if she can just lay down for a bit in her room. M shows her where her notebooks are saying she’s been keeping notes as she traveled and has song books from all over if S wanted to do some reading, she thanks her but looks comfortable and ready to just sleep, a few tears falling as she closes her eyes
- M puts a hand on her shoulder before she leaves and says “we’ll figure something out, we have to” and leaves to join the rest of the group in Gen’s room
- S falls asleep
In Genevieve's Room
- G knocks on Gen’s door, hears a groggy sounding Gen say to come in
- Gen is in bed, propped up on pillows and clutching her chest, doesn’t seem to have recovered at all
- The spot where she was hit by the shadow magic seems to have left a scar
- G asks her if she’s ok
- Gen says she just feels so tired and asks what time it is, asking if Alaric needs her, they say he’s got it handled, she says she can give them the address of the guy who’s supposed to work weekends and B says he will go retrieve him while K sees if she can ease Gen’s pain
- Gen hands B a paper with the address and he gives her hand a little squeeze and tells her to get well, Gen winks at him and he gets a little flustered and heads out through the kitchen
- G and K both try to figure out what is afflicting Gen rolling a 15 and 24 medicine
- K notices the blast that hit her contains traces of necrotic magic and G is able to tell that it also did psychic damage, they share this with each other
- G says she needs magic to help her recover
- K casts healing word on Gen healing her for 7 hp
- She visually seems to pep up and seems surprised, asking K what she did, K asks if she’s feeling better and she says yes
- Gen gets up and stumbles a little bit before finding her footing
- Gen says she needs to help Alaric and that it’s almost rush hour
- K tells her she needs to make sure she takes it easy and Gen says she can just bark orders
In The Kitchen
- M comes across B in the kitchen as she is heading to join the rest and as B is heading out
- B explains that he is heading out to fetch the weekends guy and that K and G are helping Gen
- M asks if they have things under control, he says probably. M says she’s worried about S and and that maybe she can help keep people calm by performing, noticeably not looking a B and then walks away to ask Alaric what she can do
- B’s gaze lingers on her for a moment before continuing out the door
- Meanwhile the laughter of an old coot can be heard on the wind…
