Genevieve’s

The previous night

First watch

M closes her book and asks what Lili said to B that got him all flustered
B clears his throat and says he’s not good at telling the age of “smooth skins” and says Lili, she’s a child, right?”
M says Lili is older than her and B stares at her blankly and asks how many years that is
M says based on the information she gave them, she’d be at least 31, and says she’s not the best at telling the age of elves because she didn’t grow up around any others but if she had to guess she’d put her between 45-75
B stares blankly into space as he does maths in his head, he recalls that she has some memory loss and wonders if that may be what contributed to him thinking she’s a child
B says that Lili said something about giving him a massage and that he’s still not convinced she’s not a child and that there’s just been a lot of fucked up shit happening
M says he’s not wrong about that, but she definitely is an adult, given the fact that she graduated from Everly Academy as a temptress
M says she’s visited before and that they have a whole chart of the ages different races must be to start courses there and that elves must be 18 to start temptress classes and it’s a 3-year course so she is definitely of age
B stares at the table and scratching it with his claw as he thinks about the fact that he’s not had a chance in his adult life to think about anything of the sort, so he’s confused by the situation
After a bit of silence, the first shift comes to an end and M says she thinks T said he’d take next watch, so if B could send him up when he goes down to bed

Second watch

T comes up and sits beside M a few moments pass in silence before M, not looking at him says “You’re probably pretty curious as to who “he” is right?”
T picks up a scrap bit of wood left over from the attack, pulling out carving toys and starts working away at it and says “Sorry, what?”
M says when she was panicking earlier, she said that she was “doing exactly as he taught me”
T says she thought she might tell him and asks who is was, M asks if he’s from around here and he says he had to travel a fair distance to get here
M says “So probably not awfully familiar with the politics of the surrounding towns?” He shakes his head and M adds “You probably noticed when Lady Elira Blackthorn introduced not me, that she said Lady Mildmore” He nods again and she continues “Well, that’s not my name. Not anymore”
T stops carving to look at her, trying to make eye contact but she’s still not looking directly at him before going back to carving
M says, “I was married to Lord Mildmore in New Dawnsbrooke and he is a vile and horrible man” T seems to tense and takes a bigger chuck out of the wood than he intended to, M reaches over and casts mending and he gives her a half smile
He says “So, Human filth?” and M nods before saying her might have some connect to everything going on here but she’s not sure exactly yet
T says he heard from some of the others that she might think he’s here and she explains the night they all met, the dream they shared and what she heard, he asks if she dabbles in prophecy and she says that’s a more recent thing as she’s learned a couple of spells of that sort, but not when they had the dream
T asks if she thinks it was just her fear talking or if it was actually him, she says the other heard it to, but when G touched it, it started dripping water and she doesn’t like water, so it could have just been a manifestation of fears and nightmares, but she does know that he has his best assassin tasked with finding her so she’s not taking any chances
T lets out a deep breath, putting down what he’s been working on, which seems to be some form of humanoid figure and says, “So even after all this, you still have things to deal with?” M says “Yep. I mean I knew when I left that I wouldn’t be safe, but I knew if I stayed, I’d be dead, so...”
T asks if she thinks Korbus has made her stronger and she says undoubtedly, as she traces her finger through the air, the flame from the candle starting to dance in time as she makes little shapes for Ember to chase
T puts a hand on her shoulder and says “Or did he just give you the tools and you were strong all along” and tries to make eye contact with her, she replies “I’m more inclined to believe the former but I’m sure many people would argue it’s the latter”
He snorts and says, “Ok then, we’ll leave it there” and continues carving the piece of wood for the rest of the watch
M pulls out Nyx’s journal and begins to pore over it, looking for any information relating to Nekros or fights he sponsored, Lunae, Zalthea or anyone related to him (investigation 12)
M gets hints of him having to chastise one of his group for making a sale without consulting him but can’t find anything beyond that
M heads into the basement to wake up the next two people who are taking watch, as she walks by, she slips a folded piece of paper containing the Bridge of Vines copy with a lipstick kiss mark and “you owe me” written on the outside, before heading to where the petrified bodies are being kept and gives both Alaric and Xeranova a kiss on the cheek, wipes a tear from her cheek and lies down on the floor to rest

Waking up

B wakes up and looks at George, seeing he now seems to be a mix of Zolium and adamantine with golden light emitting from the seems
G looks at her braces, seeing they’ve changed to look more like silken wraps around her forearms in a moonbeam white colour, they feel tight but comfortable and more resilient than one would expect by the appearance and knows that they would grow and shrink with her as she transforms
She also has a sealed deck of cards in her pocket and no explanation of how or why they are there
She pulls them out and has a look at them, seeing a black leather pouch with brown stitching and a symbol of an orcish werewolf
She undoes the ribbon seal keeping them closed and the seal dissolves as she hears “careful” on the wind
Fans them out to look at them, guessing there’s under 100 cards, all of them look to have portraits or landscapes on the card face similar to tarot cards, but the details are obfuscated, instead showing a flat, dark purple. She feels like a lot of energy and power coming from them and feels only way to learn what is on the cards is to draw them
decides to put them away for the time being and feels Gwenzaline’s energy
K’s trident looks the same except the etched symbol of Derek is now holding a trident and she can feel a golden energy thrumming inside it
M wakes up feeling surprisingly well rested and feels the pendant around her neck but doesn’t see Ember. Ember then bursts forth from the necklace. M gives them little chin scratches as she lies on the floor
Draekos walks up behind M, trident in hand as he uses it like a walking stick, he stops near her and holds out the end of his trident to help her up, she gives him a nod but chooses not to take it and gets up on her own instead
As she stands, he pulls her into a big hug which M knows to be uncharacteristic, but she is pretty sure she knows his intentions behind it, given what she knows of his past (insight 20)
After a moment he pulls back and tells her it’s time to go, M hesitates a moment and looks back to X and A, feeling a pang in her chest at the frozen expressions on their faces
M says under her breath “I don’t know if this a good idea...” and casts detect thoughts on X, initially doesn’t pick up anything but probes deeper (wisdom save X 7) and sees X’s last memories
She sees S with a big arm around her torso, one eye swollen shut with blood coming out of the corner of her mouth and crying out, but the sound is muffled as someone comes through the upstairs window and X falls to the ground, eyes locked onto S as she slowly petrifies
With tears streaming down her face M then turns her focus to A (Wisdom save A 9) and also sees his last moments
M hears A thinking in his head that he can’t let Alastros fight alone and gears himself up for a fight when he is hit by something and is confused by the fact that it doesn’t hurt. He raises his shield and thinks “I hope she’s ok” as his body starts to petrify
M finds herself back in her own mind, sobbing as she spirals and starts to panic (wisdom save double nat 1s) and starts fawning over A’s petrified body, holding it and repeatedly saying she’s going to find a way to fix this
G and K realise they haven’t seen M yet and walk in to find her like this, a little unsure how to respond
Derek says, “If no one else is going to talk to her...” and flies over to her and pushes Ember out of the way before saying “Hey girly! Hey, come on, let’s go!” she ignores him
G facepalms and K dies inside a little before heading over, just in time for Derek to smack her across the face (nat 20) dealing 2 points of damage to her
K baps Derek on the head and he asks what he did, Derek says he didn’t mean to hit her so hard, he just wanted to wake her up, K says that’s why it was only a bap and holds out a hand for Derek and helps him onto her shoulder, where he leaves a space for S, and places the other hand on M’s shoulder
K feels pain deep in her soul at this but puts it to the side for now and tells K that they’ll fix this together and get them back
G comes up and puts her hand on M’s other shoulder
M takes a deep breath and is able to ground herself with the support of her allies (wisdom save 15 + 2 + 3)
M gets a handkerchief out of her pocket and wipes her eyes then uses it to swat at Derek in annoyance
M straightens herself up and says “Ok, we need to come up with a plan” and heads upstairs to join everyone else

Upstairs

Alastros is upstairs, standing outside the front door, taking the day in
B starts clearing wreckage, Banso comes up and asks if he needs help B says he’s alright
Banso and his crew take perimeter and also keep watch
B pulls out George and tells him to go into forge mode, Geroge says “Yes Sit” and transforms, B noting that his voice sounds less stilted and robotic (whatever those are)
B takes out the materials and tool and also the Shab claw and teeth and starts working on making something
Not long into is Jazen appears over his shoulder and asks him what he is doing and if he’s making something, B says “No, I just like having a bunch of random shit” Jazen says he could see that
B resists the urge to throw him through a wall and Jazen says it seems cool
B doesn’t hear Jazen say “Do you feel we should have let them use the cloud palace? I kind of feel bad” to Lili, she shrugs and he says, “Maybe tonight then, but don’t say anything” and Lili signals that her lips are sealed (Perception B 9)
G, K, M and Draekos join the rest upstairs and M gets the attention of everyone
C and V have started making breakfast for everyone but are listening

Gwinri and Alastros

G notices Alastros staring at the sky and gets the feeling that she should make sure to tell him to stick around and wait for them to suss out a plan and not head out on his own (insight 19)
G approaches Alastros, he greets her and she tells him to stick around while they make a plan, he asks if she knew he was planning on hunted, she says she just had a feeling
Alastros asks if she thinks the blood cloud can be killed, G says she’s not sure, he says he doesn’t think it’s supposed to be killed but that he wants to kill it, G says she knows what he means
G gets the feeling that he is contemplating something but not saying it and asks him what’s on his mind, he says he doesn’t think the blood cloud comes out during the day as he’s been standing out there since dawn and hasn’t seen it, only a bunch of flowers, and uses his sword to point at them, showing that there are many more now
G says they’ll come up with a plan and get rid of the flowers

Planning

M says she thinks they need to get rid of Nekros as soon as possible but that charging in right away is a bad idea and they need more help
M says a group should scout the area, see if there are other ways in, then looks to Banso and the rest of his group and asks if they know anything of the layout, people there, or anything else that would help, they nod
M also says she feels they should attack on multiple fronts because she knows it’s not going to just be him
She also says it would be a good idea to have someone visit the local churches and see if any clerics there might be able to help with those that are petrified, but she doesn’t know anything about the local churches
Banso raises a hand and says that The Reverie Sanctum helped him out the previous night, Lili says they’re really nice there, but the other place, the head priest is a “real butt of a man” but Ribbalt is nice
Lili says she can go talk to them and that she wanted to go back to The Radiant Hall to check on the girls
M says they should have a group do that, a group staying at Genevieve’s, a scouting group and her, Draekos, and Gwinri if she were so inclined should go pay a visit to House Vaeloria, G nods
M notices Syyrik isn’t with the group but knows he’s upstairs, M uses message and tells him they’re planning, and he should come join
He replies and says he’s learning the patrol patterns and asks if she wants him to leave, she messages back and says they’re organising a scouting party and asks if he wants in, he says of course
M decides sending Alastros on a scouting mission wouldn’t be the best idea as he’d likely get lost and kill a bunch of guards (intelligence 14)
G hears this sound of a phantom battle around her, punches, kicks, magical attacks, coming from the deck of cards in her pocket (perception 22)
She puts her hand over the deck in acknowledgement
M asks Moritha where she would rather be, if she wants to stay here or if she’d like to join the others at The Radiant halls, she says she’d rather be at the hall
B remembers Axyl, the old man and Rynette and suggests maybe going to see them and that the old man had been helping train some of the towns folk (history nat 20)
Lili says she can stop by and T decides to join her
B resumes forging and notices it going faster than he would have thought, feeling he may have it done within an hour (strength 18)
He also feels like every time his tools connect with George, they are getting stronger, like the adamantine is transferring into them
G looks through Orrinar’s belonging that aren’t petrified with him and finds a surcoat with the family crest that she puts on over her armour as well as a ticket stub for The Amber Hoof Stables

Talking With Banso and Crew

M asks the group how many people are there, what the layout is, how often they saw him, if there is one place he spends most of his time and a bunch of other questions
They say there are four hubs placed around under Ravenswood, one of them Lili already came across and they had been working on clearing out the creatures that resided down there, but they have only managed to completely clear out 2 of them
One of the cleared-out areas is being stationed by who Zalthea called The Machine Lord and that there was some kind of device covered by a large canvas cloth
The one that Lili and co. Were headed is where they were told Lunae was stationed but it was passed down to The Stone Lord when she didn’t return
They say that Nekros has been mostly spending time between those 2 and that they both have rooms that are completely off limits to everyone but Nekros and his top men, but they know one of them contains the machine lord’s device and the other is where captives were ferried into as well as bodies of the dead
Banso says there was also a younger kid who seemed a capable fighter but was a bit of a problem, not listening to anyone and acting out that he thinks is related to Nekros, describing him as a rebellious, white-haired Human boy around 12 years old

Clearing Bodies

M has a quick look over the bodies, not seeing anything of note, heads back inside and grabs multiple bottles of alcohol, taking them back out and begins pouring them over the bodies
She notices that the flowers are growing out of the bodies now and that they looked drained of blood as well as viny tendrils snaking from the bodies into the ground (nature 19)
Once she has emptied the bottles she uses firebolt to ignite them and uses control flames to spread the flames and grow in intensity, as well as making shapes in the flames, some lewd, some less so as a way to unwind a little bit
