Ravenswood

Town Square

G says she’s going to find her brother and sprints off
Syyrik and J are looking over all the bodies
X helps Draekos up, he gives her a nod, and she gives him a kiss on the cheek, he seems a little flustered
M and A are recovering
K lies down and Derek flies over, landing on her mammoth head and asks if she’s ok, she says she just needs to rest
M is pacing again, looking at everything then turns to A and says, “Should I not have done that?” He replies “I don’t think we had much of a choice”
M says “No, I mean should I not have... Did I make things worse? Would this not have ended in the deaths of innocents if I didn’t get up there and run my mouth? Is this my fault?” He puts an arm around her and says “We’ll never know” she says “I don’t like that answer”
M is too shaken herself to tell if A is doing alright (insight nat 1)
M reaches for her fan as it is her comfort object when she’s stressed, forgetting she doesn’t have it and starts to tense and relax her fingers and hands but can’t stop the wave of panic from overcoming her (Wisdom save nat 1)
M pulls away from A, pacing again as blue flames seem to seep from her fingers, gathering around her hands before in a fit of pure panic and rage, casts firebolt at one of the dead guards on the ground, it burns briefly with blue flame before the body is reduced to ash and then she sits on the floor
K looks over to M and A and sees something of a perfect pair, realising A has never killed anyone before so he’s trying to wrestle with that, and M is also not handling things well, worried that she’s to blame for this going down (12 insight)
K also can see that the blue flame wasn’t coming from The Ash Song
The rest of the group head over, X notices M and A and says “Well aren’t the two of you a right pair? Alright, come on” and grabs them both by the hands
A lets it happen but M is frozen in panic (wisdom save nat 1)
Syyrik says “I’ve seen this before” and moves to put M’s arm around this shoulder, helping her to her feet, X doing the same on her other side
J goes to check on A
Draekos is watching all of this, turns to K and asks if she’ll give him a ride, K nods and leaps up, landing on his feet on her back and says, “We should move” (acrobatics 18)
Derek is in awe and says “Holy fucking shit! That’s hot!” Draekos doesn’t flinch and waits for K to move
They start walking from the town square and K says to X “Would it at all be possible to go to the baths, I think that may help calm things a bit, at the very least it may help with a little bit of restoration”
X leans over and reaches up to give mammoth K a little scratch and says, “You know what, darling, you’re probably right, but you need to change forms” and they start to head in that direction
M manages to get control of her breathing a little more but is still in the throes of a panic attack (wisdom save 5)
The crew try to get through town quietly, Draekos (21 stealth) taking the lead with X close behind giving him directions, M is a little too frazzled to put any real effort into moving quietly (9 stealth) but mammoth K somehow manages to move mostly undetected (18 stealth)

The Silver Hourglass Bathhouse & Spa

The crew arrive and K drops her wildshape as they pass through a nearby alleyway without warning Draekos who just says “Finally” as be backflips to the ground beside her (dex save 15)
They all head inside and pass Garrin who greets them before X tells him to get up and head into the private baths with X locking the door behind them
M has collected herself for the most part and takes a moment, looking at her hands, thinking back to the blue fire from earlier and out of curiousity reaches out to a nearby candle, tracing shapes in the air with her hand causing the flame of the candle to turn blue and starts to take similar shapes as she’s tracing in the air
Syyrik says “Since when can you do that?” M says “Today, I guess” A’s eyes light up with recognition and he asks if she got a new boon, she says, “Not that I'm aware of” and he says, “I mean, you and I both know what blue flames mean” M nods
X steps out to go talk to the staff and J comments that she doesn’t think she’s been here before and asks what’s with the giant bath and what is in the connecting rooms
M says it’s a bathhouse and J asks why you wouldn’t just bathe in the river
Draekos walks over and asks if she’s from the Feywild, she says she is and he says “Well, there’s lots of things for you to learn” and pats her on the back before he starts undressing to get into the water
Derek is lying on a table on his stomach, his head resting in his hands as he kicks his feet and says, “Isn’t he dreamy?”
K also disrobes and heads into the water
M starts to undress and looks to both Syyrik and A and asks if they’re joining, A starts blushing and looks sheepish and says, “I will if you are” (wisdom save 9)
M is already just down to her underwear, K whistles from the water and A steps over and starts hesitantly removing his armour, M gets the impression that he hasn’t really been out of that armour for the better part of 9 months or so, apart from bathing in private and such (insight 23)
Syyrik says sure and walks over to a hidden part of the room where he undresses and hides his things, dragging a chair over to block them
J decides she will pass and takes a seat at a nearby table, looking a little embarrassed by everyone being naked

Lunae Search Team

Leaving Ravenswood

Lili seems a little emotional, clinging onto Jazen who has an arm around her
Jazen says if she’s not feeling up to it they don’t have to go, Lili says she’s ok and he asks, “Are you?” she replies “Yeah” a little unconvincingly, He smiles and says “Alright Nara, if you say so” then reaches into his extradimensional storage and pulls out a chocolate cupcake and hands it to her
Lili takes it and starts eating it from the bottom up and Jazen cringes and asks why, she says, “So you get all the icing in one go.” He says “I guess, Go on then”
V asks how they are going to find Skylla, B pulls out the tracking necklace from Zaolu and then Lunae’s toe
Lili asks why he has a toe and B tells her Collin gave it to him then says the necklace should help him track down Lunae who will know where Skylla is
Lili reaches out to try and touch the toe, Jazen reaches out to stop her hand and shakes his head, and B raises it above her head so she can’t reach
Jazen makes eye contact with B and apologises for Lili
B loads the toe into the center of the necklace, the opaque dome becomes more translucent and glows a light-yellow colour that pulsates out to the points before receding, leaving only one of the arrows glowing
Lili attempts to climb B to see what’s going on and he gently pushes her down as Jazen reaches out to stop her again (dex save 20)
Jazen says, “We’ll climb the big man later” then realises how that sounds and groans as Lili says “Promise?”
The group decide to try to get by the guards by pretending Lili is a misbehaving child bugging the adults since people hate to watch that and tend to give a wide berth and it seems to be quite effective (performance B nat 20, Lili 20, Jazen 11, C 8)
The group come to a fork in the road, the compass pointing straight down the middle and can either go left and go by The Radiant Hall or go right
Lili mentions she hopes Candace and Rebecca got there alright, Jazen looks to B and suggests they go check on them, B agrees and Jazen says “Alright Rik, lead the way”
B says “Call me Rik again and I’m going to put you through that wall”
Lili draws her scimitar and holds it to B and says, “Don’t you fucking dare” Jazen leans against the wall and says, “The ladies love me” and Lili jabs him with her elbow
As the get close to the gate to exit the town proper B notices Dobby, the guard he let escape who quickly whispers to the two guards he is with who nod and run off and Dobby walks backwards away from the group, jumping into the river again, B gives him a nod

The Radiant Hall

As they approach, they see Sid outside chatting with Kael and Rebecca is in the training yard fighting one of the dummies with a dagger
Lili runs up and jumps on Sid, giving him a kiss, Jazen says “Oh, him?”
Sid says hi to Lili and she explains that they were passing by and she wanted to make sure everyone made it there ok
Sid says everyone is fine, that Candace is inside and he couldn’t stop Rebecca even if he wanted to
Lili asks if he wants to come find someone with them, Kael he had asked Sid to stay and help look after the place while everyone is recovering from the previous day's attack
B takes that as it is said (insight 6)
The necklace is pointing to the northeast
Jazen steps up and says He won’t have Collin for the day but if they wait a minute, he can summon another familiar
Jazen pulls out candles and draws a chalk circle and recites the incantation “When worlds end, you are the arbiter, when gods fall, you are the instrument. Herald of annihilation, come forth and be my harbinger I have doomed to bring.”
A nebulous, gaseous looking creature with one eye in the center of its form appears from the circle, with blue and orange shooting star looking objects orbiting it and Jazen says “Gordon!” and tries to hug it then says “You’re going to need one of these” snaps his fingers and a cloak like his appears on Gordon then tells the group he’s good to go
Lili tries to sneak up on Rebecca while this is going on
Lili manages to get right up behind her undetected and taps her on the shoulder, Rebecca exclaims in shock and falls backwards (stealth nat 20 vs perception 5)
Lili says, “Gotta be sharper than that if you wanna fight!” Rebecca holds up the dagger and says, “Ready to spar?” Lili says she has to go do a thing, but she will later
Rebecca asks if she can come and Lili says no, Rebecca looks disappointed and both Jazen and C recognise that she is planning on following them anyway (insight C 17. Jazen 16, B 6, Lili 3)
C walks over and says, “You can’t come”, and Jazen says “Yeah, what the skeleton guy said, you can’t come” Rebecca says, “I wasn’t going to, I swear!”
B overhears this and gives her a meaningful stare, saying “Rebecca, you can’t follow us” (24 intimidation)
Lili says “Seriously, please stay here” and Jazen calls over to Sid and says “Oi lover boy, watch the girl for real”
B points to Lili and says, “I barely wanted her to come” and Lili says “Hey, I kicked Sid’s ass!” Jazen says, “Did you?”
B holds his hand over her head to illustrate the height difference between them
Everyone gets ready to leave and Lili gives Kael and Sid a kiss on the cheek before heading off. Jazen says “I’m gonna have to get used to this aren’t I?” B responds “Keep up lover boy”
Lili uses minor illusion to make a hate that says “Lover boy” appear on Jazen’s head which he doesn’t notice

Confronting Lunae

The group arrive at a clearing and Jazen stop, saying “Something’s wrong” Before taking out his dagger, slicing his palm and a little leech appear from the wound and asks it “Where’s the rest of you”
The little leech shakes its head and Jazen says, “That’s not good?” as the leech crawls back into him
Jazen says “Collin says he can’t sense the rest of the swarm”
B narrows his eyes and says, “Is Collin made out of your blood?” Jazen says “No, it's a long story that we probably don't have time for now, but I would love to tell everyone about it. But if you're wondering, no, he resides in my blood, but he's not made of me.”
B says “That rules out one concern”
There is a strong smell of blood in the air and even though Lunae has been out here for quite a while, it doesn’t smell like dried blood, but instead definitely smells fresh
As they step further into the clearing, they see an abandoned camp with tents that have been torn apart by the elements
They also see Lunae on the ground by a firepit with a fire burning it in
As they get closer they can see numerous trails of blood streaked over the ground around her
B tries to sneak closer, hiding behind a tree near the center of the clearing (14 Stealth)
V follows behind B at a distance and Jazen creeps around the far edge with Lili close behind
Lili says she’s very good at being bait if they need it, B shakes his head
C situates himself between Jazen and V
Now that they’re closer than can see that Lunae has lost more of her mass than Jazen originally thought, one of her legs having been cut off right at the hip as well as missing multiple chunks all over from bite wounds
The wound from her missing leg seems to have been cauterised to stop her from bleeding out
The blood seems to be a ritual circle that is magically keeping the blood fresh and in the right place
Lunae looks extremely frustrated
Lili nudges Jazen and asks if she’s doing blood magic, he gets a very serious look on his face and says “Whatever it is, it’s not good”
B overhears her saying “Why is it not working? I have enough. Those little things were filled with the blood of more than 10 men each." (perception 17)
Jazen winces and says to the group “I really will explain the story of Collin, I promise”
Lili sneaks up so that she is within 10 feet of the circle and attempts to use Prestidigitation to clean up some of the blood, but whatever is keeping it fresh also prevents it from being cleaned (stealth10)
Lunae continues cursing to herself saying “This isn’t fucking working! I’ve done everything right!”
B rips the tree out of the ground (strength 18) and goes to throw it at Lunae, Lili sees him doing this and says “But what if her blood...” as it leaves his hands, hitting Lunae for 14 damage
Lunae sees it coming and her eyes go wide as she starts laughing hysterically saying “This just might work!” (perception 19)
The tree goes straight through her chest, and she starts bleeding profusely and coughing up blood and the ritual circle starts to pulse
C can see that the book she normally kept on her hip is now at the edge of the circle and starts to hover above the ground, vibrations with magic and points in its direction (perception C 18, Jazen 14, Lili 10, B 1, V nat 1)
The book is covered in blood and there’s a dagger stuck into the top left corner to pin it open on that page
The blood in the circle starts swirling around Lunae and the book starts to smoke as it tilts towards her, the smoke flowing into Lunae as the tree separates from her body as the smoke seemingly starts to fill in all the missing parts of her body
She starts laughing again and says, “You guys thought you beat me!”
Lili casts mage hand and sends it to try and pull the book away but it seems firmly fixed in place while the ritual is in progress
B draws his sword and pulls out George saying “George, go into your combat configuration”
Jazen moves up to be by Lili, Gordon follows, V moves to the other side of B and C moves beside Jazen
Lili nudges Jazen and says “She’s prettier than Zalthea made her sound” Jazen says “She was pretty”
B tosses George right up beside Lunae
A tall humanoid smoke figure rises up around Lunae as she laughs and says “I knew as a last resort I could just become one of them”
B steps closer, pointing his sword at her and says “Lunae, become whatever you want, but by my divine oath I am sworn to kill all blood mages”
Lunae’s eyes go wide and her hair turns light red with yellow streaks and the visage of the nightmare creature they fought the day before flashes across her face, the eyes glowing before returning back to the face of Lunae
She falls to the floor her limbs having reformed but seemingly elongated and says “No! No, this is my body!”
Her entire body shimmers and changes to a masculine form with the same red and yellow hair and the voice of the Tensen says “Oh, you thought you could just bring me back and you would be in control” then it shifts back to Lunae as she protests the subjugation of her being
The Tensen takes control of her form again and looks at B saying “Oh, it’s you again, ready for round 2?” and points to B as he beats his chest in response

Round 1

The Tensen stands on the tree, its feet seeming to absorb nutrients from it, resulting in flowers growing from the missing spaces in Lunae’s body before falling and leaving fresh skin underneath then looks to the group and says “Then we dance”
The book stops floating and falls into the mage hand, now able to move it
Lili runs in and takes a first swipe with her scimitar, missing with 11, swinging again and hitting with 21 dealing 4 slashing damage then hitting again with her offhand with a 19 and dealing 6 slashing damage then runs back to beside B and Jazen
The Tensen points at Lili, she makes her dex save with 14+3 and takes 10 damaged reduced by half + 3 for a total of 2
Gordon moves so it is in firing range and uses Sustained Beam hitting the first with 18 dealing 13 force damage but misses with 8 for the second
The Tensen grapples George (strength save 10 +3)
B rushes in and swings with his silver sword, missing with 11 as the Tensen dodges out of the way, switching forms to Lunae as it does so, he then swings again missing with a 10 and Lunae says “I will wrest control from this beast and I will kill you” B says “I think the beast is more of a threat to me than you are” then shifts back to the form of the Tensen which says “Right you are”
The Tensen swipes at B hitting with a nat 20 and dealing 52-3points of damage to him, B uses Adamantine Bulwark, reducing the damage by a further 24, and both he and George are thrown back to the edge of the clearing (con save 11+3) and the Tensen says, “Round 2 is going in my favour, dragon!”
The Tensen moves up to V and hits him with a 20, dealing 27 points of damage and he fails his con save with 14 and is also thrown back to land with B and George
V uses Nightmare Flicker but misses with a 7, tries again and misses with 14
Jazen summons his blade, runs in and swings, missing with a nat 1
George looks severely damaged but moves up and deals 2 fire damage to the Tensen then gives advantage to Lili
C uses Grasp of Shadows, missing the first with 10 but hitting the second time with 18, dealing 7 necrotic damage

Round 2

Lili uses Healing Word on V, healing him for 7 before running in and hitting the Tensen with a nat 20 dealing 7 slashing damage, then swings again, missing with a 12 and then runs back closer to B
The Tensen says, “Running again, are we?” then points at her again, she with 19+3 and takes 4-3 damage as a bolt of lightning barely grazes her
Gordon uses Energy Dash, hitting with 18 and dealing 10 force damage halved to 5, the Tensen makes it’s dex save with 20
The Tensen goes to grab Jazen, who fails his strength save with 9 and gets thrown into Gordon dealing 26-3 damage to both of them
The Tensen flips to Lunae who flexes her fingers and says “I’m getting the hang of these”
B casts Zaolu’s Edge and rushes forward, hitting with 26 and dealing 14 slashing, 6 force and 2 radiant damage then hits again with a nat 20 dealing 20 slashing and 4 force damage
The Tensen takes over again and says “I think I would be doing much better in this fight if she wasn’t taking over from time to time” then hits B with a 19 and dealing 22-3 damage to both B and Gordon as B is thrown into him
The Tensen runs up to George and swipes, missing with an 8
V uses Hungry Jaws, missing with 13 then goes to stab with his spear but misses with 7
Jazen uses Leech bite but misses with 14 then uses punish, missing with 15
George deals 5 fire damage to the Tensen and gives advantage to Jazen
C moves closer to the group and uses Summon undead, summoning a ghostly skeleton
The skeleton runs up and punches the Tensen, hitting with 19 and dealing 7 necrotic damage

Round 3

Lili runs over to B and casts Cure Wounds and second level, healing him for 10 then runs up to the Tensen and takes a swing, missing with 10 and runs back towards B, she thinks the Tensen is going to try hit her with the same electricity attack it has before (insight 1) and tries to feint it (12+3 dex save)
The Tensen flicks back to Lunae who snares at Lili before grabbing the skeleton (nat 1 strength save) and throws it into George, both taking 19 damage, rendering George nonfunctional
Gordon uses Energy Dash but misses with a 9
The Tensen tries to grab Gordon but misses with 11
B roars and rushes in as the Tensen says “Oh, did I ruin your toy?” and B swings with his sword, missing with 12, swinging again and missing with 11, the Tensen taunting him, saying “Oh, you’re not doing so well” B then casts Sanctuary on himself
The Tensen tries to grab him, making its wisdom save with 18 and managing to grab with a 20 and deals 30-3 as it throws him into the skeleton
The Tensen tries to grab Gordon but misses with 9, swinging again and also missing with 10
V uses Nightmare Flicker, missing the first with 14 but hitting the second with 23 and dealing 6 damage, the Tensen makes its wisdom save with 20 and doesn’t get disadvantage on its next attack
Jazen uses Leech Bite, hitting with 17 and doing 7 necrotic damage and effecting it with Leech Toxin and Bleeding then swings with his Blade of Doom, missing with 14
C uses Grasp of Shadows, hitting with a nat 20, dealing 15 necrotic damage, then hits again with 17 and deals 14 necrotic damage

Round 4

Lili runs to B and uses Cure Wounds at level 2 healing him for 4 then runs up to The Tensen, hitting with 25 dealing 8 slashing damage then runs back towards B again
The Tensen reaches out and grabs Gordon with a nat 20, dealing 44 points of damage to him and 41 to Lili as he is thrown into her, knocking her unconscious, Jazen’s eyes go wide as he watching his summon knock out his partner
B uses Lay on Hands on Lili giving her 15 health
The Tensen reaches for V, grabbing him with a 15 and dealing 33-3 damage as he is thrown into C who also takes 33 damage
The Tensen reaches for Jazen missing with a 9 and tries again also missing with an 8, then takes 2 necrotic damage from bleeding
V uses Nightmare Flicker, missing the first with 6 but hitting the second with 19 failing its wisdom save wit 5 and deals 4 damage and giving it disadvantage on its next attack
The Tensen runs up to C and grabs him with a nat 20 dealing 40 damage to both him and V as he is thrown into him, knocking them both unconscious
Jazen uses Castigate, hitting with 23 and dealing 7 radiant damage and giving it the Sin condition then uses Punish, dealing 4 necrotic damage plus an additional 4 thanks to Sin
C makes a death saving throw with 19

Round 4

Lili uses sapping sting on the Tensen which makes its wisdom save with 15 then uses healing word on V healing him for 7 health
The Tensen reaches out to grab Jazen, hitting him with a 23 and dealing 36 damage to both him and V as he is thrown into him, knocking them both out
B uses Thunderwave, it makes its con save with 23 and takes 5 thunder damage the Tensen uses its reaction to heal 10
The Tensen moves to grab B hitting with 21 and dealing 29-3, knocking him out and is thrown into the body of Jazen who fails a death save
The Tensen moves up to Lili, turns into Lunae and smiles and it tries to grab her, missing with 10 then turns back into the Tensen and says “Oh, little dancing girl, all alone what are you going to do when all your friends are dead?” then tries to grab her again, missing with 13 and takes 4 necrotic from Bleeding
V fails a death save with 4
C fails 2 death saves with a nat 1

Round 5

Lili begrudgingly casts Healing Word on B, knowing he can get the others up, healing him for 6 then savagely swipes at the Tensen hitting with 25 and dealing 9 slashing damage as she carves through it throat with her scimitar

Post Combat

As soon as the Tensen/Lunae falls over dead, Lili runs over to Jazen, kissing him on the lips can casts Cure Wounds healing him for 2 and sits on the ground holding him close to her
B uses Lay on Hands to give C and V 10 hit points each
Jazen opens his eyes and sees Lili and says, “Was I dead again?” Lili says “Almost” and he says “I’ll take almost and pulls Lili in for a kiss
V gets up and says he doesn’t feel so good
C gets up and shakes his head dizzily
Lili helps Jazen up and says “We’re heading straight back to The Radiant Hall right now”
Lili’s mage hand floats over to her, holding the book with the dagger stuck into the page with a detailed sketch of the Tensen, she hands the books to B who wraps it in some cloth and puts it in his bag, getting a strong sense of evil as he touches it
B makes his way to the corpse and doesn’t notice anything as he tries to cut off its head (nat 1 perception)
As he cuts into it the head turns into decayed flowers and collapses in on itself as if it was never made of anything solid
B casts mage hand to go fetch George, it taps on his shoulder and points down to see that George has rolled its way to him, he bends down and picks it up, saying “Rest now, George. You did good little buddy” putting him in his bag also
B gets out the necklace, takes the toe out and pockets it and puts in the small doll of Skylla’s and it lights up again, pointing back towards Ravenswood

The Radiant Hall

As they approach the group see Rebecca and Kael sparring, Natalie and Ossandra are sitting and watching in awe as Rebecca seems to have learned very quickly how to handle herself
Natalie and Ossandra see B and their eyes light up, B tries to hide that he is limping as they run towards her (performance 6)
Natalie calls to Ossandra to say that B is hurt and to go get Alya, and Ossandra runs off
Alya comes out and heals B for 50, and Jazen for 9
Kael heals Lili for 15 and gets Jazen up to 26
Althea also comes out and heals Jazen to full, and gives another 5 to C

The War Room

Everyone heads inside, Sid stays outside to watch the girls
Althea takes a seat at the head of the table and says “Please inform us on what happened”
B takes a deep breath and recounts the day's events to them
B reaches into his bag and pulls out the dagger and book, unwraps them and places them down, all of the paladins visibly reacting negatively to the book as it’s revealed
B explains Lunae was using it for blood magic
Lili leans over and uses Prestidigitation on the book to clean the blood off of it so it’s readable and doesn’t make a mess, B seems puzzled by her choose
B starts to slip through the book and sees minor nightmare creatures, a small rodent with lightning bolts around it labelled Pechuchiri
The next page has a wooden puppet with a drill bit nose
The next page has a giant water snake with a large metal skull over its head labelled The Ironweave Leviathan
The next page looks like a giant warforged with powder kegs on its back called The War Steel Juggernaut
B flips to the last few pages and sees the page with the nightmare they just fought labelled The Tensen
He also sees the nightmare version of Riordan labelled Adaptive Brawler and the nightmare pulled from K’s head called The Chaotic Chimera with the different forms it can take drawn below it as well as Skylla’s nightmare labelled The Clown Prince with dolls drawn around it
There is a different symbol on each page, presumably the ritual circle that needs to be drawn to summon them
B pauses on the Riordan page, intentionally keeping Althea from seeing it and B remembered the ledger from Kelsin with Riordan’s name in it
B feels if he spends another hour or so studying the book it may provide some advantage for the fight tonight garner anything further in that moment (Investigation 4)
B says they’re going to leave again, and he wants them to look after the book and the dagger until they get back, Alya comments on the fact that none of them are really in any shape to be protecting more than what they already have
B says they can lock it in the prison and he’ll take the key and come back after the rescue Skylla
B remembers that the plan was to have multiple teams doing things at the same time and if he leaves the book there until after the rescue Skylla then that will be after they fight Micarafaux and they would want any information on the nightmare creatures before the fight and decides to take the book with him, but leaves the dagger
He wraps the book up and says he will be back later
