General Summary

Astraday 23/05/2345

The Radiant Hall

G is outside with Jazen, C and Alastros and is giving Alastros the run-down of what has been going on
Jazen walks over to the wall and leans against it, putting a hand to his head and looking like he’s zoning out
Alastros is nodding along as he eats bread and says it’s a lot to take in then asks why the others went off that way, she says probably to see if M is ok, Alastros says “She’s the one who fights with instruments and swords right?” G says yes and he asks if she should also go with them, she says she was planning to
C overhearing this, pulls Alastros aside and starts chatting to him
G heads to catch up with the rest of the group

By The River

B isn’t entirely sure how to handle this situation so is kind of just standing around awkwardly
M takes a couple steps away and sits back down in silence again, holding her knees to her chest and crying
G walks up to the group, sees everything and asks what is going on, B walks towards G and says, “pretty sure she killed the guy we were going to interrogate. And now she's like this.” K says “Yeah, I've never encountered anything like this before. Sorry I can't be more help.”
G walks up and sits down by M and waiting until M is ready to say or do something. M offers her a slight smile of appreciation and there is a feeling of mutual understanding as M was the one to help G through her panic attack.
G gently places a hand on her shoulder, and they sit there in silence for a few minutes before M crawls forward towards the bank of the river ad starts to clean the blood off her hands in silence
The rain has faded, and the dark clouds are starting to fade, the sky still has the slight glow from the just set sun from behind the horizon
A very weak and trembling Althea comes up to the group and says “Your friend
Jazen, I think something's wrong." K asks what she means
M snaps back to her sense upon hearing this and walks up to the rest of the group just as Althea's legs give out from under her, B, K and M all going to catch her
M looks set to catch her (dex save 15+3) but B instead stumbles into her as he attempts to catch Althea (nat 1 dex save) leaving just K, who gets an arm around her and holds her up (13+3 dex save)
Althea says, “something’s wrong, we’ve tried to talk to him but he’s not answering” M takes off in a run to where he was and the rest follow, K still holding Althea steady

Outside The Radiant Hall

M asks Jazen if she’s alright, his eyes are open and look a little distant and he doesn’t respond, and M tries to discern if he’s doing something akin to scrying but isn’t sure (arcana 10) K also isn’t certain what’s going on (7) but G (16) can tell he’s in some sort of trance and B (20) gets the impression that he is doing something like piloting a familiar or summon, which they share with the group
The group can see Jazen leaking blood from the corner of his mouth and eye and everyone tries to figure out what’s causing it and if they can help.
G gets the intuition to open up his shirt, bending down and ripping it open and sees bruises and welts appearing on his body (medicine G 19, K 17, M 14, B 4)
B is able to connect the dots and realises that he seems to be taking damage from his summon so that it can keep up with Lunae
G can see about 16 wounds on his face, chest and arms that she make out
The group try to tend to his wounds in an attempt to keep him conscious and able to control Collin for longer (medicine B 18, M&K 13, G 10) and get the impression that they may have allowed him one more shot to get a hit in
K casts Aura of Vitality and spends a minute focusing heals on him, keeping him up and stable for that time
M lets curiousity get the better of her and casts Detect Thoughts on Jazen and is able to hear him giving commands to Collin, telling him to dodge, attack, etc. As well as getting to see what he is seeing through Collin’s eyes. His vision stretching quite far, even in darker areas, but instead of being colourless like she is used to with dark vision everything is tinted red and Lunae is glowing as if Collin can track her heat or blood
M hears Jazen command Collin to go for the legs and sees a laceration appear on Lunae’s leg as she tumbles out of a tree, lands in a 3-point landing and manages to keep concentration on her spell and dashes away again
Collin keeps up with her and gets a hit in on her shoulder and she blasts him with eldritch blast, which would normally be destroying parts of Collin, but Jazen is still taking the hits, added by K healing him
M is watching intently trying to see if she can see any opportunities that Jazen has missed and attempt to pass them on via Message (15 arcana) and thinks she can maybe make it work
M hears Jazen say “Collin, I love you buddy. I know you got this” before he passes out and sees Collin go to punch towards Lunae, shooting the leeches that form his arm at her as they latch onto her body and start biting as she runs
In trying to observe through Collin’s eyes she accidentally connects to Collin’s thoughts and not Jazen’s (int save 5+3 and Arcana 15) and is able to maintain connection despite Jazen having passed out and sees that Lunae has slowed down, having lost concentration on her spell from the constant bites from the leeches attached to her body, attempting to rip them off as she runs away, but Collin is catching up
M sees a potential way to force Lunae to change course if Collin sacrifices his remaining arm to create a leech perimeter or risk taking damage if she chooses to run through it (intelligence 17) and uses Jazen as a conduit to pass that on to Collin.
The last thing M sees is Collin throwing out a leech wall to cut off Lunae, and she decides to risk it, blasting the leeches as she runs past and Collin gets close enough to... and she loses connection
M sits down against the wall and says “Well, that was something” and takes 2 psychic damage
Jazen is unconscious, taxed from the mental effort it took to maintain that
M and B help lift Jazen and take him to the guest other guest room with Alya

Jazen’s Room

Alya says she can take care of him and that he’s in good hands
M waits for B to leave the room, he gives her a nod and walks out
M looks at Alya and says, “I’m sorry, I know that wasn't exactly my decision to make, but I didn’t know what else to do." Alya closes her eyes and nods then opens her eyes and just stares at M and says, "I told you I would understand. I don't agree with the results...” M interrupts and says “There would have been so many more lives lost. I was inside his head... none of us would have been safe.” as a couple tears roll down her cheeks
M gets a sense that there is something Alya isn’t saying but has no desire to argue, instead walks up to M, putting a hand on her shoulder and says, "Would you like a moment by yourself, dear?"
M says “I would say I think I'm all right... I think I'm relatively all right...” Alya says “But would that be the truth?” M replies “I think given the circumstances; I'm doing pretty damn well.”
Alya says “You're all a little weird, but I but I like you all. Take that as you will. You're doing good work.” M thanks her and says she’s going to join the others, Alya says she’ll stay with Jazen

Main Area

The others see Kael rolling his eyes as he helps Althea back to her room again and hear him say "And just stay in here.” Then closing the door before heading to his room
M rejoins everyone and asks everyone to join her in the war room

The War Room

Alastros, Kael, B, C, G, K and X all join M in the war room as she sits at the head of the table and waits for everyone to get settled
Kael pull K aside and says, “Am I wrong in thinking I saw you summon a demon or something?” K says “Yeah, that’s...” and tries to think of a name. “That’s Derek.” her trident seems to shake a little
Kael asks if he should be concerned and K says “Oh, no. He won't hurt anybody unless uh they're against us. I don't know. It's weird to say in a way that makes it sound like he won't turn. I don't know.” Kael asks if she can summon it now and she says she can try
Everyone is sitting around the table waiting when K summons Derek from her trident, appearing under the table with a thud and loudly saying “you summoned me. Thank god. What happened?” K says, “we made it through the fight, but we kind of got our asses handed to us by that nightmare thing.” Derek says “You don’t say. I'm kind of curious though who got the final blow. it was you, right? Right, Master?”
X is sitting at the table, looking at her nails that she used to kill the nightmare, pretending not to hear the conversation and K says “Um, actually, no. It was our lovely bathhouse owner here” Derek creeps up onto the table, looking at X and says, “Oh jeez, she's a looker.” K says, “That she is” and M finds herself nodding in agreement without realising
Derek scrambles up onto K’s shoulders and curls up like a cat over her
Kael seems impressed
Once things have settles again M stands up and lets a big sigh, takes out her notebook and flicks to the page where she wrote everything she learned from using Detect Thoughts on Shall Blackthorn and slides it to B beside her.
B picks it up, reading through and getting increasingly more angry as he goes
As he reads M says “I got what we needed” then sits back down and says “None of us would have been safe. if he went to prison, he wouldn't stay there long and he would have gleefully sought revenge. None of us would have been safe. Especially not Natalie, Ossandra, Lili, me, Xeranova, especially not Bruzrik, but I don't think he would have gone for you first.”
B says he wasn’t going to let him go to jail and M says “I didn't think you were. But I won't lie and say that I didn't act out of anger and maybe a little bit of revenge. I don't know. But I just knew that him living even a second longer was too much of a risk.”
M leans back in her chair and despite not having her disguise up is very pale with a thousand-yard stare
Alastros says “"All right, well, this guy seems like a real bad dude, but how does that help us get to Nekros?" B passes the notebook down to him and he leans in to G and asks if she can read it for him, she wonders if he can’t read.
M sighs and says “Long story short, Nekros's men were impersonating Blackthorn guards who are supposed to be the city guard, but the Blackthorns basically contribute the entirety of their funding and kind of have co-opted them. So, they are basically just Blackthorn mercenaries. It seems like Harren did in fact know about Nekros because Zalthea had gone to meet with him in order to try and make a deal and introduce them so that they could work together.”
Alastros says “Right. Right. Yeah, I see it says that right here. Mhm.” and is nodding with his arms crossed then says "Okay, well, what's our next move then? I'm new here. I don't even have a place to stay. And I'm not And I'm not going to lie, I may have lost my coin purse inside the mouth of a man-eating plant.
M drifts off in thought for a moment before saying aloud “Oh, I should have saved that spell” Alastros asks what spell and M says Faerie Fire. Alastros says “Faerie fire. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hate that spell. Gets used on me all the time” M says “Well turns out it’s very good at finding invisible things that are tracking you and reporting your location to people who want to hurt you”
B pulls out George Forgeman and says “George, do you remember that arcane eye that we saw before?” George says “Yes. The one I tried to scan and it was incorporeal.” B asks if he thinks he could detect one again, George says “"Well, with some modifications and upgrades, I think I would be able to track it if you updated my ocular sensors.” (int 8+4)
M asks if anyone has anyone way of detecting magic, but everyone is pretty spent from the fight. B tries to use his divine sense but can only sense Alya down the hall but no sense of an arcane eye and tells M he thinks she’s safe
M says she needs to head back because she’s supposed to be performing and needs to see if Lili was able to learn anything at The Jolly Jackalope.
X says, "If it's all the same to you, I just need to stop off at the hourglass and then I'll be there for your performance." M says she was going to ask if she needed to do that
M asks if X will still be alright to join her for a visit to Ravenswood Bluff tonight, she says “No, but I’ll go” M says, “You don’t have to, but I’d definitely prefer if you did” X smiles, her cheery facade wavering slightly before standing up, regaining her usual composure and saying “Are we all done here?”
M says she was going to go check on Jazen. X looks around, pointing at G and says “Escort?” G holds out her hand and X takes it saying “Alright, we are off!” Alastros stands up saying he guesses he’ll go with them
M uses message to thank X for today and X responds, "If today were but a grain of sand, then tomorrow would be a universe of beaches."
K checks in with everyone else, seeing they’re mostly just exhausted and need rest
Kael sticks his arm out and says, “I appreciate you Kree” and gives her a firm handshake, she says she’s just doing what she can. C asks K if she wants to head back and K says she’s ready when he is, he says, “Let’s go” and kicks off the wall he was leaning against

Jazen’s room

M walks up to the room Jazen is in, seeing Alya just leaving, giving M a quick nod and saying “He’s awake, I’m just going to get him some food” M says “I might pop in and see how he’s doing”
M knocks on the door and Jazen calls out “Are you bringing brekkie?” M pauses slightly perplexed and says “It’s Micarafae, and no?” He replies “Oh, well come on in, I wanted to talk to you anyway”
M opens the door and walks in, forgetting that she is now in her Drow form and that Jazen hasn’t seen her like that yet. His eyes go wide and he says, “You’re a dark Elf?” M says yes and he replies “that's awesome. I love dark elves. They usually have the best stats. They have all these extra abilities. It's...” He stops himself
M stares at him for a moment before smiling and saying “That is an incredibly refreshing thing to hear”
Jazen says “You're not going to understand this, but um there used to be... Imagine a crystal, like a big square cube crystal, and on one side of the crystal, it glows and you can see into it and you could see like you could do like training matches or like you could set up scenarios and like test different battle things out. Does this make any sense to you?”
M says, “Like a crystal ball, but a cube?” he replies “Yes. Yeah. Instead of a ball, it's a cube. And when you like interact, when you touch it, you get to like practice fights in your head kind of through the cube. Anyway, all I'm saying is when I used to do that, um the character that I embodied, I would usually pick dark elves. I thought they were cool.”
M says “Well, you’re not going to meet many” The sparkle leaves his eye, and he says “Oh right, new world” M says “The don’t normally come to the surface. there are a few. I know a few, I mean, my dad's one. And I hate to, you know, rain on your parade, but only half technically. My mom's a High Elf.”
He smiles and says, “No worries you’re still cool” M smiles and says “Thanks. You doing alright?” He sits up a bit in the bed so he can look at her better and says “My body aches all over. And Colin has been trying to make his way back to me, but when he's not in a solid humanoid form, he has the speed of a bunch of different leeches slowly crawling across the forest floor.” M says “You know, that makes sense”
Jazen says, “That's why I was trying to make sure we got her.” and M says “Yeah, about that. while you were doing your thing. I we were able to figure out roughly what you were doing. Um I got curious and sometimes when I get curious my impulse control goes out the window and so I may have cast detect thoughts on you to see what was going on and I was able to see what was happening.” His eye twitches slightly as she says that and he says, “You know of all the spells add that to the list of the ones I don't think I'd like being used against me.”
M says “It wasn’t against you, was just to make sure everything was okay because you weren't responding and I was also just coming out of a panic attack. So, I wasn't thinking clearly...” He says “Mhm, it’s fine”
M says “I’m, I’m sorry. Yeah. I need to stop doing that. It's a really bad habit. I did it to Bruzrik... and Althea. Oh, god. Yeah. No, I need to... Learning that spell was a mistake. Well, it wasn't because I was able to find out where the master contract is from Shall. But you know. I need to work on my impulse control is what I am learning.” Jazen says “Yeah, you do, but you’ll get there”
He screws up his face for a second and says, “Wait, what am I thinking about right now?” and squints at M. M says “It only lasts for a minute and that was a while ago. All I saw was Collin chasing Lunae, nothing else
Jazen looks sad for a second and says “I was kinda curious if I could show someone my original home, but save that for another time”
Jazen tries to get up, the exertion causing him to cough up blood and says, “I really overtaxed myself” M uses prestidigitation to clean it up then says “Yeah, yeah you did. It’s a good thing Kree was healing you while you were doing that” Jazen says “Oh, I knew she was the nice one” M says “I think all of them are pretty nice, just don’t get on Bruzrik’s bad side. Or mine, apparently. I killed someone today. That's weird.” Jazen says that is weird and M said it was her first time
M says “I mean, he deserved and I think it was... I’m thinking too much about this again” Jazen waves his hand in front of her, trying to draw her attention to him and says “Hey do you want a distraction” M says she would love one
Jazen reaches his hand into seemingly nothing and it disappears before he pulls it back out holding a small glass jar, then makes a scooping motion, his hand disappearing again before coming back with the jar now full of sand and reaching in again this time pulls out a lid and screws it onto the jar and holds it out to her saying “Here”
M looks at him quizzically for a moment and he gets an impish grin and says, "You'll never know when you need a jar of dirt." Actually, it's sand, but here you go.” M says, “Can’t go wrong with pocket sand” and Jazen smiles
M asks, “Is that like wrist pocket?” He extends both hands and they disappear and he says "Um, in your world, just imagine I have an ability to reach into my own bag of holding at any time, except for mine keeps everything, I don't know exactly how this works, but anything that goes in stays that way until it comes out. But I haven't tested it with everything. So, you put something cold, it'll come back out cold. It's great for drinks. It's great for ice cream.”
M says, “So it's like a combination of wrist pocket, a bag of holding and some kind of stasis.” Jazen says Yeah, kind of. Um I really wanted to test out like a mode of transportation, but you guys don't have cars, so I don't want to put something living in there.” M says that’s probably a bad idea then asks if he’s tried a bicycle
Jazen asks what a bicycle is and M says “You know, thing with two wheels and pedals. You sit on it.” He asks how it works and she says “Chains, gears and shit, I don't know. I do music and magic. I'm not a mechanical sort of girl.”
M realises he’s fucking with her to make her happy (nat 20 charisma)
He smiles as she tries to explain what a bicycle is and says “But what if you put like a propeller at the back? Could you fly? And like wings where the handlebars are?"
M stops, glares at him and pulls out Breezy Mirage, casting gust on him. Jazen says, “You would hurt an old man such as myself?” and pretends to fall out of the bed, but ends up actually falling
M says, “That was a little over-dramatic, don’t you think?” and helps him back into the bed
Still fucking with her he says, “You might think this is another joke, but can you put the covers over me?” M does and says, “You needs me to read you a bedtime story too?” He says, “yes please” and she adds “I left all the kid's stories on my room, I don’t think you’re quite ready for the mature stuff” Jazen says “Kid’s stories are the best! Have you heard of Bluey? Never mind"
Jazen looks at M and says, “I think you have somewhere to be, but thanks for coming to check on me” M says, “I'm presuming you'll make your way back when you can? probably not a good idea to make the walk now.” He says “Yeah, I'll just have to catch your performance tomorrow, assuming I live that long” and pretends to cough but end up actually coughing
M says “And I was the one who was knocked unconscious twice today. By the way, I killed Shall, if you didn’t get that” He looks into her eyes and says, “we all sometimes have to uh do what we think is right.”
Before M leaves her says "I once was trapped in a magical realm in my second world. It was more of a prison, and I was stuck there for six months when we found out that our Nekros had taken the bodies of those who we thought were dead and turned them into 10-foot-tall monstrosities and used them against us. We learned early on that killing them meant they felt the death again, their soul being contained and trapped as if held by barbed thorns. And it was tough the first time, but it was the only way to set them free” M says “That is a grim fate indeed” Jazen continues ‘What I'm trying to say is I understand. I probably would have done the same.”
M says “Frankly I think death is too good for him, but I think it was the safest option. Anyway, I cast detect thoughts on him and that's how I got all the information from him. If you want to read one what went on inside his head, apparently, I wrote it all down. I don't remember doing that and I'm too scared to open my notebook now.”
Jazen, fucking with her again says “But I can’t read” M walks up to him and flicks him on the forehead, saying “Get some rest dumbass” He shouts “Ow! Rude!” and pulls the covers over his head a M walks out of the room.

Natalia and Ossandra’s room

M walks across the hall to check on the girls and get Ember, who sees her and seems ready to go, flying over to M with a chirp.
The girls don’t want Ember to leave but M promises she’ll come back so they can play again then says “So I was right and it's not as simple as just having the contracts. There's also a master contract and the two of them have to be together for anything to happen. So at least on the positive side, me having them now means that they can't do anything. But it also means to get you out of the contract, we have to find the master contract. But I know where it is. I know how to get there. And um, you won't have to worry about Shall again” The tension drops from their shoulders and they look relieves, thanking Micarafae and telling her they believe in her”

Bruzrik

B heads down to the cells, finds that someone seems to have started to clean up but seemingly got interrupted, and the body is still there
B spits on Shall’s body before finishing what M started and cutting his head off, wrapping it in an old shirt and putting it in his bag
B heads back to town

The Hourglass Bathhouse & Spa

X is humming a song to herself, still arm in arm with G
G asks what she wanted to go back to the hourglass for X says she wanted a little something to help calm her nerves and that Garrin is the best at making it
X says she’s never offered it to anyone else before but asks G if she would like one, G says she does need to unwind after everything
They get inside and head to the bar, seeing Garrin is not there, they both take a seat, and X whispers in the ear of the bartender asking for a particular drink, he goes to get the ingredients, mixes them in a mortar and pestle then pours it into a cup
It looks a little chunky, but X tells her to wait and after a few seconds it glows for a moment and looks like regular tea. X says “I love magic” blows on it than takes a sip. G does the same and feels an immediate sense of calm wash over her
X says "You know, I'm going to have to put out a post for the Adventures Guild. I'm running out of the ingredients for this stuff.” G asks what’s in it and X says “Well, I don't like admitting, wouldn't be the first time today, but this isn't from around here. This isn't from this continent, and we have to deal with traders from across the sea to get specific scorpion venom... I mean special ingredients, but trust me, it's all safe when made correctly.”
G and X enjoy their drinks before X realises, they might be late, and G quickly slips the letter she wrote to Garrin onto the bar, and they head back to Genevieve’s Inn

Genevieve’s

Everyone regroups, seeing Genevieve’s packed with people. Norman and Giuseppe are running around dealing with customers, S is also there wearing an apron and headscarf helping out also as well as seeing Varuug there
M recognises a few people, seeing some of Nyx’s crew, some of her regulars, Axyl Belbridge
They also see Lili there with Rebecca and Candace as well as another man they’ve not seen before
The old lady who gave M the brooch is there who eagerly waves at her. Garrin and Joey are also there
X leans down and whispers in G’s ear “Go get ‘em tiger” and pats her on the butt
Lili is sitting at the same table as Garrin and chatting to him

Bruzrik and Kree

B pulls K aside, Derek says hi to B and B says “Shut up freaky little imp creature. This doesn't concern you” Derek calls him an asshole and K says he can be that way
B says, “your goddess has to do with death, right?” K says yes and B says “When you took Zalthea’s head, she was able to bring her into her realm right?” K says she didn’t take the head, he did and that K remembers Kallista wasn’t the one to collect Zalthea’s soul, but Thalarion that K saw
B says “Well, I got a thing and an idea for how to ensure our friend that Micarafae dealt with earlier gets what he deserves” K says “I’m sure that we can make sure that gets arranged”
B says, “I feel as though he may deserve a helping hand to the afterlife” K says ”Oh I’m sure she’d love to meet this jackass” B says “So if you need it, I’ve got a thing in a bag, but I don’t know if you need it or not to speed this up”
Derek says “She doesn’t need it, but I’m glad you did it” B says “My plots are even approved by demons” K looks at Derek and says “I don't know, do you fall into demon or devil? I can never remember with imps” Derek says “I don’t know, what do I look like?” K says “Did you say you don’t know what do you look like or you don’t know what you look like?” Derek says “Now you’re just confusing me” and K says she tends to do that
K notes that Derek seems to have knowledge of Kallista and her realm
B says he thinks K should introduce the two of them and K says “I’ll make sure it happens” B says “If she has a pit of eternal torture or torment or something along those lines, I think that would do nicely.” Derek says she has a couple of those and that one goes directly into the lava pit in Korbus’ realm

Gwinri, Garrin and Lili

G goes over to Garrin who is chatting to Lili and G notices two dwarven women are giggling and making lovey eyes at Garrin from across the room. (22 perception)
Lili is asking about the dink she had while at the hourglass, asking if he got the magic fish from a magic pond
Garrin says “lady, I don't use fish.” Lili says “There was like a fish in the drink, it tasted like pineapple” Garrin says “No, even if there was a fish that tasted like pineapple, that wouldn’t be it. Now I could make you a drink that tastes like pineapple”
Lili says, “But why was there a fish in my drink?” “There's no fish. I'm telling you. I'm sorry if you think there was a fish or you saw a fish or you like fish. I don’t like fish. Well, some fish...” Lili says “But I like, touched it and there was a fish in there and then when I was drinking it Shall said “Just wait til you get to the fish””
Garrin gets quiet at the mention of Shall then Lili says, “So you didn’t put the fish in there?” Garrin says no and Lili says, “Then where did it come from?” Garrin says he doesn’t know and Lili says, “And why did it taste like pineapple?” Garrin says “I’m telling you, fish don’t taste like pineapple” Lili says “Like, I thought it would like flap going down my throat but instead it just burst into pineapple flavour. I was really worried I was going to choke on the fish...”
G can tell that they’re just going to talk in circles about this if she doesn’t step in and interrupts Lili to say “I’m not sure that was a fish. Are you sure it was a fish?” Lili replies “Well, what else would it have been? It was fish shaped and it like felt like a fish and it was like swimmy like a fish, but fish don't swim in alcohol. That would be weird”
G and Lili both fail to notice that the two dwarven girls have mustered up the courage to approach Garrin (perception 10 & 5)
They tap him on the shoulder, and he turns around asking if he can help them, G and Lili are busy talking about the fish, but G does notice Garrin turn around while Lili pondering why there would be a fish in alcohol and can’t get her head around it
G leaves her to think and turns to see what is going on with Garrin, seeing two very pretty Dwarf girls in nice dresses throwing pick up lines at Garrin who is trying to politely turn them away saying he’s flattered but he’s there with someone, but they are not listening
G steps in, putting an arm around Garrin’s waist and says, “I haven’t seen you two here before” (11 intimidation) The girls get the hint and say “Oh, um we're sorry. We have a thing for half orcs” and leave that hanging.
Garrin seems incredibly done with all of this and asks if G wants to go get some seats by the stage, G says yes
Garrin gets down on one knee and pulls G in for a kiss, the girls get the hint that there will be no foursome and head off
Garrin lifts her up for a deeper kiss and G loses herself in the moment, forgetting where they are and by the time her head is back in the room she is by the seats in front of the stage

In front of the stage

Everyone groups up by the seats in front of the stage, M giving a wave to Axyl as she walks past who shows her that he has another drum
Lili joins the group, sees Alastros and says “Oh! You met my friends!” Alastros says “You! You’re the one who helped me!” Lili nods and he continues “I totally did. And now I'm part of the team, I think. This is a big crew of people. You know that, right?”
Lili turns to everyone else and says “Ok, so I like went to the Jolly
Jackalope and I went to see if I could find Kelsin, and I talked to like the girl at the bar, Kelsey, and I told her that I was looking for work as a dancer and she was like, "Oh, Kelsin's gone." So, I was like, "Do you want me to try find him?" And so, I went into the office and then I got into his office and then I went down the ladder thing and there were tunnels and they would like markings on the wall. I copied them down. I don't know what they mean. And then there was like this like reptilian type creature. There were a lot of them, but the one I met, his name was Krogmar and he was really nice, and he took me through the sewers and we found like the weird little shadow creatures there and we fought some of them and then Krogmar said that like they've only just appeared in like the last couple of weeks or so and like that on their own they're not too much of an issue but they're all coming from like this one direction, so I think maybe whatshisface might be in that direction I don't know it seems like it cuz it he said everything is coming from there um so I asked if it would be okay if I came back with some friends and we went and tried to scout out and see what was going on and maybe help get rid of them because they were causing an issue. That was all.”
Lili looks back at the group and adds "Oh, and then we went to the baths and I met Sid. This is Sid. He's cool. He's been telling me about like adventures and stuff and like I don't think you met Candace. This is Candace. And then you know Rebecca. Yeah. Okay. I'm going to go dance now” then puts on her tap shoes and gets on stage to perform
The young girl who looks to be in her mid-teens, Candace says hi. She is small in stature, wears glasses and has a pencil behind her ear and a bag of books by her side
The Human man with sandy blonde hair sitting with them gives them a curt nod, he has some of his adventuring gear on him but seemingly not his full kit
Axyl walks up to the stage, waves, points at his drum then at the stage, asking if she wants him to join her and M gives him a nod, he gives a thumbs up
M then points to Lili, to Axyl and then to herself, asking if he wants to help give her some music for her dance, he nods and they both walk up to the side of the stage and are ready start playing
Genevieve quiets everyone down, mentions how she’s happy to have so many people and that after the performances drinks will be 10% off and everyone seems very happy about it. She then introduces Lili who starts dancing with M and Axyl playing their respective instruments (17 acrobatics)
The crowd seem really into it and enjoy the novelty of seeing a dancer as opposed to the musical performances they usually see
Norman zips through the crowd collecting tips which he puts in a small chest and places on the side of the stage with a deep bow before running back into the kitchen (62 sp & 4 gp)
A couple people are asking about the 10% off drinks as M gets on stage. S sees her getting ready and takes her apron off saying “Break time” and sits down with the rest of the group
M plays a song of rest to help her allies recover from the day (performance 23 & 29) (78sp & 24gp)

After the Performances

Once she finishes the area starts to empty out a bit, a few gamblers and drinkers staying, but families mostly all head out
Axyl gives a salute as he heads off
G says good night to Garrin, giving him a kiss on the cheek and Garrin says, “I work tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure my boss would let me off the hook if I asked” and looks over his shoulder at X G says “We’ll see” and Garrin says “You know where I am then” and gives G another kiss
B hears George buzz and pulls him out and he says "Sir, maybe if it's not too late, you could ask someone here if they have any Tinker tools or Smith's tools."
B stands up and yells "Hey, anybody got any tinkers or smith's tools I can borrow?” someone does reply saying "Oh, you come by the shop in the morning, I could get hook you up." I got both. It’ll only be about a gold for both.” and introduces himself as Al, telling B where to find him
George asks if there’s anything B would like him to turn into Zolium, B takes the ball bit off of his morning flail and gives it to George
M pulls Lili aside and updates her on what happened today, what the deal with the contracts and Shall is and what happened with Jazen, Lili decides to head there to see him
Sid volunteers to escort Rebecca and Candace back to the stockpot in and Lili says that sounds like a good plan, Sid gives Lili a kiss on the cheek and they all head off
A couple people stop to talk to M, giving her a couple silver and copper pieces
M goes to pull B aside, but sees the old lady that gave her the broach waving at his from across the room and decides to head over (20 perception)
As M approaches the lady says “I see you’re wearing the brooch I gave you” M says “I am. It is very beautiful. I haven't had a chance to have a good look at it yet, but there's something about it, isn't there? A bit of magic?” The old lady nods and asks if she’s been wearing it since yesterday, M says she has and the lady says, “That’s great to hear, Like I said, I don’t have a lot of money...” and looks a little sad
M reaches into her purse and goes to hand her 2 gold, the old lady tells her to keep it and M says, “No skin off my back” but the old lady says, “No no, just put that back in your coin purse.”
M goes to insist, but finds herself unable to, instead putting the coins back in her purse.
The old lady says, “Come with me” and starts walking towards the back, M follows her, unable to resist
M tries to figure out what is happening and is able to retain awareness of what she is doing but has no control over it, possibly some kind of charm spell (arcana 15)
M starts to panic internally as she realises what is going on and starts frantically trying to use Message to call out to anyone for help but to no avail
She is lead back behind the bar as the old lady tells her to keep following, and she notices that she keeps giving commands, and each time she does, it seems to repel her attempt to use Message as though she is not able to do something other than what she is being told at the time.
The old lady opens a door into another room and says “, "Just through this door, please. And once you get inside, I'd like you to sit cross-legged on the ground." As M gets close, she notices the old woman has green eyes with a gold sliver in one eye (20 perception)

Following Micarafae

B does not see M leave initially, but sees K looking and notices (perception 8 rerolled with inspiration for 16) Derek pokes K and says “Isn’t that your friend?” and points to M as she disappears around the corner, notably not in the direction of her room (perception 13) X also sees her leave (perception 17)
They both find it a little strange that she’s just walked off without letting anyone know, but don’t clock any kind of dire situation as she seems to be walking and acting normally otherwise
M starts to feel panic rising in her body, but the spell is keeping her from showing any physical manifestations of it
B looks to see what Ember is doing and sees they are currently with X
M walks into the room and the door shuts behind her
B decides to go investigate and X goes over to K and asks if she saw M go off with the old lady, K says that’s not like her and X says “No, it’s not her type, I’m her type” K says “To be fair hun, you’re kind of everyone’s type”
X sees B heading over and says “He’ll be able to take care of it” and K says “A little backup couldn’t hurt” and she heads over with B
X doesn’t seem concerned and stays put
B and K round the corner and see a closed door on the left, the cold storage room to the right and Genevieve’s room at the end of the hallway
B decides to check the door on the left, assuming she wouldn’t be going to either of the other rooms and knocks on the door

Back rooms

The door swings open, smacking into B and he takes 2 damage (dex save 13)
M is standing in the now open door, B is a bit surprised and says “Hi, is everything alright?” M says everything is fine and B ask why she’s here
B and K are getting more worried and aren’t sure if it’s actually M, B thinks she seems fine, but K gets a panicked message from M (perception 9 & 18)
K hears M’s voice in her head say “Help, being controlled, she has green eyes with gold”
M feels like she’s forgetting something (intelligence save 11, rerolled with inspiration 19) as she finishes her message, she flashes back to just a few moments prior,
Seeing the green eyes and gold sliver, and thick trunklike arms reaching over her shoulders, seeping golden ichor, mouths and arms shifting over the form as it hugs around her and the old woman sitting in front of her who says in a different sounding voice from before but one familiar to M “I didn’t think I’d have to use this, it wasn’t meant for you. I didn’t want to use my possession ability, you don’t want to know what’s going to happen to this body once I leave it. You know I had to inhabit this body for a whole day to see if that brooch was going to work on you.” She pauses a moment before continuing “Ok, I think we’re ready. I want you to get out of here as fast as you can and go be as normal as you can around your friends. Don't take off the brooch. Bye bye.”
The old woman’s eyes roll back into her head as she stumbles back, hitting her head on a shelf and falling to the floor, bleeding out
M gets up and turns around, seeing an exact copy of herself who takes her fan from her, goes to use it to disguise herself but finds it has no charges and instead casts disguise self as the old woman
M opens the door
M smiles and tells them she felt bad that the poor old woman had given her the brooch and she had nothing to give back. So, she was going to gift her the fan. And the old woman said, "Actually, I know someone who can copy the fan." So, there'd be two and they could each have one. So, she's just going to borrow it for the day. K and B believe her (M persuasion 18, K insight 14, B nat 1)
M hugs the old woman who says “Don’t take off that brooch”
The old woman steps out of the room and K gets out her Talisman of Dispelling and attempts to take the old lady's hand in hers saying “You're the one who gave her the brooch. Thank you so much. It's a beautiful piece“ but is unable to get a hold of her (10 attack)
K lets the old woman pass, figuring at least M is safe. She also notices that the old woman’s eyes aren’t green, but M has convinced her everything is ok, despite asking for help earlier
The old lady walks down the hall to head back into the main area of Genevieve’s, as she turns the corner K notices her form change into that of M before she disappears into the room (perception k 22, B 1, M 12)

Main area

G sees M walking briskly out, holding her fan heading towards the door

Back Rooms cont.

Once K sees she’s out of earshot she tells B “That was not the old woman, I’m thinking, and I think Micarafae’s on the same wavelength, that’s nekros, go catch her” B takes off in a sprint after Micarafaux
K turns back to M and places the Talisman of Dispelling against the brooch, which immediately unlatches itself, almost as though it wasn’t a piece of jewellery but a living creature.
The “brooch” starts to get hot and K attempts to remove it, prying it apart, and the creature turns its attention to her, trying to get through her feathers but Derek swoops it and swats it away, sending it falling to the floor with a splatter of acid, both narrowly avoiding taking damage as it melts through the floor (strength nat 20)
M’s mind is once again her own and she falls into K’s arms and starts sobbing. K wraps her wings around her and holds her tight

Main Area cont.

B feels like someone attempted to use Command on him, but it had no effect (wisdom save 17)
B hears glass breaking to his right (investigation 13) and tries to figure out if it’s prestidigitation which he knows M has but he can’t tell (arcana 8) and decides to ignore it
B sees G and X and says “Stop Micarafae” but neither of them see Micarafaux (stealth 25 vs 13 & 13 perception)
B
Calls George over and says “George, I need you to scan the area for anything that gives off the same vibes as those shadow monsters or the things that came out of Lunae” Georges green glow changes to purple and he starts scanning the floor, leaving little purple wispy footprints where he has gone over, giving them an idea of where Micarafaux went. B signals to G to follow
Ember, C, J, V, X, Alastros and S are all unable to figure out where she has gone
George is slowly making his way to them as he scans, B grabs him to use like a UV flashlight and starts running, following the trail of footprints

Back Rooms cont.

M is still crying in K’s arms and Norman approaches and asks if everything is alright, seeing the dead body of the old woman and faints

Main Area cont.

S sees all of this going on and goes to G, asking what’s going on G says she doesn’t know what’s going on

Outside Genevieve's

B sees the footprints leading up onto a crate and what looks like it could be a handprint on the wall and follows them around the corner and watches the print fade in front of him (nat 1 investigation)
Getting up on top of the building, he goes to jump to the next roof, but someone opens their shutters, throwing him off and he falls to the side, taking 4 damage and losing the trail (athletics 8) he puts George in his bag and kicks a nearby stall in frustration

Back Rooms cont.

Derek is sitting on Norman’s unconscious body as K continues to comfort M
M is able to pull herself from the panic attack thanks to K comforting her (19 wisdom save)
M looks up at K and asks if she knows Locate Object, K says she doesn’t have it learned today but she can be sure to stock it tomorrow
M says “I think I still need to go see Draekos” K asks if she’s sure and M says “I think we need the help more now than ever” K says “Then I’m coming with you” M smiles slight and says “Girl’s trip, I guess” K says “Girl’s trip it is”

Main Area cont.

M heads back into the main area to find X and Ember. S is flitting between X and G and they hear a stall flip over outside
M walks over to X, hugging her and X can feel her shaking like a leaf, X says “Darling, didn't I... Didn't you just... but then you... I'm confused.” and hugs her back
M says “That wasn’t me, I think it was Nekros” X tells M to look at her, which she does, and X scans her eyes before pulling her back into a hug and saying “It’s you”
M says, “We needs to go see Draekos” and X says “Well, with a double of you around, you think that's wise?”
S says “I think we should go. I want to go."
M says “I was planning on revealing who I was tomorrow, anyway. And they have my fan, so it's not like I could maintain disguise for very long and it would at least allow us to track them. But I think tonight I need to I need to talk to Draekos. I also really just want to be far away from here right now.” X and S just nod
M turns to J and C and quickly fills them in on everything before saying they’re going now and asking if they can fill everyone in and probably tell Genevieve and says “Oh and there’s a dead body in one of the back rooms from the poor old woman he possessed. Fuck this is a mess”
J looks at her and says “So he did it then? It was him, wasn’t it?” M just pulls her into a hug and J whispers into her ear “Green eyes...” M finishes the sentence with her, both saying, “Gold sliver” and they both just stand there in silence for a moment
C says that he will take care of the body, starting to get as angry as B, but more internally
M says “If we’re not back tonight, I presume we’ll be back tomorrow” J says “We’ll keep the place safe from, well, you, I guess. We’ll be on alert, I mean”
M says “I mean, I'm not going to have my...” She sighs “I can burn spells trying to keep the disguise up, but that's only going to last me a couple of hours. Yeah, fuck it” and drops her disguise then says “I guess if you see me in the disguise, then that’s not me. Maybe we should come up with a code word or something too”
S says “That’s smart! How about petrichor?” M says “I like that. If someone says Petrichor, what do you say in return, it needs to be a two-way thing. Maybe continuing with the rain theme, something about thunderstorms? Or is that too obvious?”
S says “Maybe smells like Petrichor. And then the other one says thunderstorms coming. Does that sound good?” M says, “How about smells like petrichor and the response is I prefer lavender?” and everyone agrees that sounds good

Outside Genevieve’s cont.

B sees something pop out of the shadows and crash into a cart of vegetables before another dark oval appears and sees Jazen fall from it in front of him and says, “Everything hurts” B reaches down and grabs him and Jazen says “Bruzrik, Collin severely wounded Lunae. I don’t know where she is, she destroyed most of him, but I’m pretty sure Collin bit off her leg and a good chunk of her neck, she’s still alive though”
B says, “But you’re sure she was wounded?” Jazen says “This is going to sound weird, but I can taste her flesh, and I don’t like that, when I’m doing the thing. It’s disgusting” B says, “Never say those words to me again” and Jazen starts spitting on the ground, it looks normal and not at all bloody, but obviously the taste was in his mouth and he wants to get rid of it and then says “This is it's the worst. I hate this part. I don't normally do that, but I felt like I had to for this.”
B reaches into his bag and pulls out a bottle of rum, Jazen reaches into his storage dimension thing and pulls out two frosted glass mugs, B bites the top off the bottle and starts pouring into each mug
Jazen downs it in one go and says “That’s good, that’s real good”
B says, “You didn’t happen to see Micarafae on the way here, did you?” Jazen says “Yeah, I did actually, something was definitely wrong though because I told a fantastic joke and she just kept running and then I tried to teleport to her and she and I actually teleported into her and she just brutally pushed me to the ground, very rude...”
M walks up beside him and interrupts him by saying “I’m not that strong” He looks at her and says, “I’ve got a bone to pick with you!” M says “That wasn’t me that was a Nekros” Jazen says “No, that was you. Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You and your illusion magic. Who was this?”
M says “You know the whole nightmare thing? Apparently, my nightmare is me” Jazen says “Yeah, like the clown thing that turned people into dolls?” He looks over to G and says “I’m glad that wasn’t permanent”
M says “Yeah, that’s my nightmare; me. Going to have to unpack that one later. Did you see Lili? She was going to look for you” Jazen says “Oh, no I didn't. And she'd probably be really mad that I've scuffed up this beautiful body. You don't have any more of that healing stuff, huh?”
M says she doesn’t have any healing stuff and Jazen says, “No matter” and pulls out a eucalyptus smelling ointment, saying he hates using this stuff and starts rubbing it on his scratches and sores and they start to slowly return to normal looking skin, seemingly healing them
M says “Alright, we’re off. We’ll be back tomorrow probably. Corvin and Jineyih will fill you in, and you might want to go find Lili. Jazen says “Alright, have fun storming the castle” and K, M, S and X head off to The Scarlet Spire
Jazen looks at G and says “Hey, Gwinri, if you see a man with six fingers on his left hand, don’t trust him” G asks why and he points with two fingers to his eyes, then hers, gives her a thumbs up and winks.
G looks confused but figures this is probably someone he’s dealt with in the past and he’s definitely not fucking with her (intelligence 9)
M calls out from the distance “You can just hit him” and he shouts “Rude!” back at her
Jazen says “You don’t understand, the six fingered man killed my father and I have sworn that when I find him, I will kill him. But if you find him first, you can do it, it’s fine” G gives him a serious nod, and he says he knew he could count on her
Before they get too far away, Jazen calls to K and says "Hey, nice lady. who's not a cat right now.” K asks what’s up and he says “You going to go with that one?” and nods in the direction of M. K says “Yeah, I’m sticking with her, making sure she’s ok” Jazen says “Ok, trust you, you’re the good one of the group.” K says she’s not the only one and Jazen says, “But the best one, right?” and gives her a wink before heading into Genevieve’s
K smirks and shakes her head and continues on by M’s side
X seems to have really not liked that interaction
B and G head back inside

Back Inside

B has a look at the tracking necklace that Zaolu gave him, remembering that he needs a physical thing that belongs to the person to track them and has an idea
B goes to Jazen and says, “Do any of the bits of Collin still have a piece of Lunae?” Jazen says, “They’re still on their way here, but they move really slow” B considers meeting them halfway but decides looking for leeches in the dark sounds like an awful time
B says, “Once they get here, bring me a piece of her” Jazen says “Yeah, no worries I'll just make sure Colin doesn't digest it.” and B says “Fantastic, my really fucked up plans are coming to fruition”
Jazen says “I didn’t ask for creepy powers, they were kind of thrust upon me. Like what am I supposed to do when my first essence is shadow, then blood and sin... Yeah, I didn’t ask for these powers, but I gotta work with what I got” B says “Well, creepy powers have turned out to come in handy, so I’m not complaining”
G heads up to bed, B heads to his room for the time being, C, J and V all decide to take turns watching Genevieve’s just in case anyone tries anything in the night
Alastros decides he wants to stay at The Stockpot Inn and heads off there

The Scarlet Spire

They get to The Scarlet Spire, noting the brilliant red brick and the perches and many points around the spire
They approach the counter with a human woman named Ava behind who asks how she can help them, M says they need passage to Ravenswood Bluff. Ava asks what time and M says now.
Ava asks how many people will be traveling, M says 4 but Ava notes that S is small enough that she could ride with someone, so they only need 3 Dire Cardinals
Ava says that they only have one Dire Cardinal available at the moment so either everyone can wait for more to return, or someone can fly ahead of the rest, they decide to stick together and wait
Ava starts pulling out papers and stamping them before passing them to everyone to sign
M having read it before just signs it, Ava takes the paper back and says “You should really read these things” then passes the next one out to S who also signs it, prompting Ava to say “What is wrong with you people?”
Ava passes out the next to K who starts to read it and Ava says “Oh my god, you’re so slow” Before passing the last out to X who picks it up and looks at Ava, placing a hand on hers and saying “You need to calm down” (24 persuasion vs 1 insight)
K notices that that wasn’t her using magic, she just charmed the hell out of Ava who adjust her uniform and tucks her hair behind her ear saying “Yep, I’m sorry...” who then goes on to discuss payment, offering them the friends and family discount. M doesn’t notice (10 perception)
Ava directs them to the waiting room, saying the couch can be converted into a bed but “No funny stuff” giving them impression that she’s had to deal with people getting frisky in the waiting room
M walks over, sits on the couch and tucks her knees up to her chest
X walks over, pats her leg and tells her to get up, M asks why and X says she’s pulling the bed out
M stands up and X sets up the bed, and they both settle down on it
X leans her head on M and says “I know you don’t need to sleep, but why don’t you try sleep for this half hour” M says sure and closes her eyes
M tries to reach out to Korbus but can’t seem to make the connection (charisma 12)
X cradles her head and whispers something in her ear as she falls asleep, but M doesn’t quite catch what it was (charisma save 20)

Micarafae’s Dream

M is in a dark, black void with a spotlight shinning down on Micarafaux, who is holding Breezy Mirage and also sees the old woman with green eyes and a gold sliver in one beckoning her over
M can tell this is a dream and tries to wake up but can’t manage it (Survival 5)
M hears the old woman say “Come here Micarafae. I think you’re going to want to talk to us” M thinks “Fuck it” and walks towards them
The old woman’s form switches into that of Nekros who seems to be floating in the darkness
Nekros says “I can’t believe you broke my necklace” M says “It’s a brooch, for one” He says “Whatever, Didn’t expect that.”
M asks what he wants and he says “I want to break up your party. Gonna get some juicy information...” and pats Micarafaux who is standing robotically beside him
M knows it’s not going to do anything but stabs him with The Ash Song, Nekros says “Aw, did I strike a nerve. Did you ever wonder what your life would be like if you had given your ex-husband a child?” M says, “Don’t you fucking dare” and Nekros continues “Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you gave into all of your vices? A life with no pain, no anxiety, no reason to look over your shoulder. You'd have the power, miss, you'd be Lady Mildmore. Well, not you.”
M looks over to Micarafaux, watching her clothes shift to something more akin to noble dress. Nekros says “Quite a specimen don’t you think” and he flies around to the other side of her
M notices sliver light leaking out from where she stabbed
Still holding The Ash Song, she tries desperately to reach out to Korbus, thinking “I really fucking need you right now” (charisma 9)
Instead of Korbus, X appears in her dream and says “I wonder why that didn’t work the first time. What’s going on here” M looks to Nekros and says she’ll let him explain, but he doesn’t see X.
X says “I've been meaning to find a way to tell you. I can enter people's dreams. I don't know why it didn't I don't know why it didn't work on you the first time.”
She walks through Micarafaux as if it’s just an illusion and walks up to M saying, “Why are you having a nightmare?” M says, “Why wouldn’t I be having a nightmare?”
X snaps her fingers, and the black void turns into a bright seaside vista with clear water, the sun shining, the sound of birds flying and cliffs in the distance. Nekros and Micarafaux are both still there but don’t acknowledge the change in scenery
X says, “You need to take control” and M looks at them saying “you’ve fucked with my head enough. Be gone” Nekros stares at her and says “See you tomorrow” as both he and Micarafaux turn into dust that is carried away by a slight breeze (charisma nat 20)
X says "The first time I tried to come into your dream, it was going to be a lot sexier, and when it didn't work, I was a little concerned. But it seems like you have things in hand now.”
M tries to find something to stab, and a straw training dummy appears beside her. She stabs it with The Ash song, setting it alight
X says “I also came to tell you that we have 5 minutes. Do you want me to stay?” M says yes and X snaps her fingers, summoning some nice cushions and they both sit down and watch the waves in silence until M wakes up
