The Age of Gathering:

Of the Lasankri who set out on the Great Continent, they chose to trek south. They first arrived at the coast that is now home to the city states of Telizen, but were not satisfied with the flatness of the surrounding countryside. Only their condition led them to move as far west on the coast as they did and when they arrived in the area of The Hollow Coast they found old ruins along the cliffs, which they believed to be a sign of good fortune. In the natural cliffs that can be found in the cliff sides they made their first home. The Lasankri on the coast were driven by the same explorer spirit as their brethren, the Mountainbound, but their interest did not and does not lay on land, but out on the sea. The building ingenuity special to these people were focused entirely on ship building. The sheltered bay areas and caves were perfect for planning and engineering. 
The first ship crews were created, but represented something more in the direction of a family or clan, than what is understood by humans under these terms.
