Cricker's Chest

Summary

After discovering a band of robbers planned to rob him of his dead daughter's dowry, Cricker Stev hid the chest containing the dress , the only dowry he could afford, planned for her to wear on her wedding day, and hid them in the ground. The robbers following Cricker found the burial site and uncovered the chest. Discovering the dowry only consisted of the dead girls wedding dress, the men were filled with sadness for the girl who never married and hid it away where none could harm the dress. Placing the chest in the falls of a stream, the box lay in wait for the girl who would wear the dowry dress that the first could not. Now, as the box waits for a new owner, it is called the River Chest.
