Penny Dreadful

Penny Dreadful is a grimy little ode to the Victorian penny dreadfuls of yore—those cheap, bloody, deliciously trashy serialized stories that clogged up the printing presses like soot in a London chimney. In this Alternate Universe, fears don’t just give you the shakes—they give you powers. Terrified of fire? You’re the new human arson starter kit. Afraid of drowning? Congrats, you can submerge a room with your own tears. It's fight-and-fright, baby.   Each character’s got their own "Dreadfulness"—a personal horror turned power-up, whether they like it or not. The series steals from fairy tales, gothics, and all those dusty old tomes your English teacher side-eyed to make sub-series. While I try to stick true to the Victorian-era contexts, these are, at the end of the day, fairy-tales. Expect things to be a little… fantastical, let’s say. Places, people, and plots are insular, so suspend your disbelief, ‘cause while they exist in the same “verse” they might not have logical consistency.   Slide me a penny for your thoughts, maybe we can strike a deal. However, I’m afraid that if you want change for whatever you get, you’ll have to sort that out on your own dime.
