Session 10: Make War, Not Love

General Summary

We return to our adventure with Miranro the Crazed Stalker observing the Halfling’s abode. Within a nightstand houses Heavensfyre , the necklace of mass destruction. During Miranro’s vigil, 3 cloaked figures with dark feathers and a few red feathered highlights break into the house. They are roughly the size of Halflings. With successful stealth rolls, Miranro was able to identify one individual reeking of death, one individual that’s unusually beautiful, and one individual with a gruff feminine voice, sturdy as a rock. This little ominous trio located and pocketed the necklace and moved northward. Arete sends Virgil to trail the trio to monitor their whereabouts.   Our main goal in the Heartland is to figure out the mystery of the food shortage. Historically, produce / meats / livestock come from the western corners of Heartland. Spyrys is the main city state that has the most production and has been increasingly more quiet as of late. Those who investigate do not return. Spyrys is also the city that has been in constant skirmishes with their neighbors, the Gnolls of the Dead Peaks. Why they are still alive despite their home named Dead Peaks is one of the greatest mysteries of Pendent.   We are left with 2 options on getting to our main destination, Spyrys:
  • Travel northward through the mountains. This is the path of peril, heading towards the city of Kernow. This would allow us to follow the mission line of Heavensfyre, and potentially meet with wyverns to collect their stingers for Gnorr Hammerfist.
  • Travel westward through the forest. This is the safer, more established route, heading towards the city of Vrederedh.
The gang chooses the path of peril. WhAt CoUlD gO wRoNG?!?1? Locals of Hohme inform us that there is an established road which follows the river to a rugged mountainous path. From there, we are left to our own vices. With a pack mule in tow, we depart.   Few hours on the trail, Virgil comes flying in. The trio has been spotted making camp. With the evening sun setting in, the gang slowly saunters towards the trio for a friendly chat. Skorpa’s Divine Sense detects an undead and a fiend within the group. Thanks to the power of crowd control, combat finishes as quickly as it starts.   With a friendly wave of his sword, Skorpa leaps over a campfire and says hello by striking true on the charming individual of the trio. Blackish blood spews forth - this one is a Fiend. Krathag moves into position and is attacked by the “Normie” female combatant, and the Undead touches Skorpa’s naughty zone and saps his life force. An Undead wight.   The Fiend charms Krathag. Little did the Fiend know that Krathag is a man of culture, and that man KNOWS what he likes. With a nat 20 wisdom save, Krathag was not all about dem demons, he already has to suffer with having one as a party member. Krathag is a man that wants to make war and not love. Being practically OFFENDED that this Fiend attempted to make a pass at him, Krathag raged and reckless’d everything.   Arete stuns the Undead (and somehow the party misses epically against a stationary target. MULTIPLE TIMES), and the Fiend (later discovered as an Incubus) takes a long nap he might not wake up from, and the Normie realizes their jeopardy and attempts to retreat with the Heavensfyre. Daz heroically “Dazhes” towards the coward, arms back like Naruto, and casts Hideous Laughter. A successful disable.   We recovered the necklace and Skorpa finishes off the remaining trio for their heinous nature. A missive was found on the Undead’s corpse. Addressed to no one, it lists the house where the necklace could be found, delivery fee, date and time of of availability, and signed by an individual “Talek”. Our looting skills powerleveled us to Level 5 and rewarded us with 3 feathered cloaks and 2 longswords.
