Career Progression
Entry-level surveyors begin by assessing the lands within the Imperium's borders to note any geographical or ecological changes that have occurred. After a couple years of becoming experienced with surveying, they are promoted to Grand Surveyors, who go beyond the borders of the Imperium to assess the culture, might, and resources of nations beyond the Imperium's borders. If a Grand Surveyor finds a culture that is culturally compatible, militarily vulnerable, or being rich with resources, all intel gathered will be used to form a plan to bring that culture into the fold of the Imperium, whether that be through diplomatic dealings or full-blown military conquest.
Payment & Reimbursement
Surveyors are paid quite handsomely by the Imperium to keep their maps up to date and scout for potential territory acquisitions.
Other Benefits
Surveyors - Grand Surveyors in particular - are highly esteemed by Imperium loyalists. To the Imperium, Surveyors are the eyes through which the Imperium can see the rest of the world, and critical to plotting out the Imperium's constant expansion.
