Bounty Hunting

A very lucrative space profession. Much ritual and bureaucracy is involved to keep the profession legal and to obtain support from authorities. A properly registered bounty hunter on a commission can expect local law in Mercantile Consortium space to allow them to carry their weapons, pay for collateral damages on credit, and perform violent actions in pursuit of their prey.

Adventurers are bound to meet bounty hunters during their travels. They may simply end up on a transport together. A bounty hunter on the ship will always be subject to rumors and speculation among passengers and crew. A bounty hunter may also show up to seek the same contacts and resources as adventurers would. Ina worst case scenario, a powerful enemy may hire bounty hunters to pursue the party.

It is unlikely for adventurers to have the patience to learn the arcane rules bounty hunters follow. Even if they did, they would struggle to maintain careers in both fields.
