Uruk

History:

Uruk was founded when the men were will and roamed the realm, it was the first city and within the fertile basin the old civilization was born. What city could have came before Uruk? How would they know to farm, trade, and build massive walls to protect them from the dangers of the realm. Who would have taught the Greeks poetry, and before the Greek Tragedy their was the "Laments of Sumer". The first hero, king, and demi-god was born of Uruk, the greatest treasure that all other treasures were based on. Uruk founded centralized religion, and built structure so grand and so old, that the pyramids gained their concept from these massive ziggurats. Praise be to Anu the sky, may he allow Summer to rise again, and mayhInnana bring the end to war against the great city.   Upon the arrival of the Sumerian people, Xerces immediately put them to the task of rebuilding the fertile basin. The great people of Summer went to work once again, and from that work a thriving persian empire was born. Gone was the hunger and the lack of food, and quickly the empire rose in power, and because Xerces allowed this the worship he obtained laid the ground works for returning to his divine power. They say the enemies of Sumer came into the crossroads and were wiped from existence by persian army. No one is too harm Uruk, and they maintain a relative sense of freedom in the city because of its importance to Persia. The mighty Ziggurat to Inanna became the center of the teachings of priesthood, and all priest come to learn from the priest of Uruk. The massive monument is where a follower of a deity goes to learn the ancient tenants of worship and gain titles based off their understanding the gods of the Canvas.  

Notable Locations:

  The Ziggurat of Inanna: This beautiful Ziggurat towers above the city of Uruk, and house some of the most influential priest of the realm. These priest study the gods and what their names were in other Civilizations. Dedicated to Inanna, the earliest version of Athena in existence, this is temple functions the way athens does. It does not matter weather you are titan or Olympian, primordial or modern, and domestic or foreign. All gods are allowed to have their followers trained here, and this rule supersedes any law of Persia. Standing over 220f t tall, it was built to be grander than it was previous and to thank the gods for saving Uruk from being forgotten by man. Near the top is the personal residence of Gilgamesh, who keeps a steady watch over the city.   The White Temple: The Temple of the Grand priest of Anu/Zeus Meshkianggasher and is home to the shrines of the Ruler gods. Originally used for just Anu/Zeus, the other rulers were added to this temple to keep the scales balanced. In ancient times it was built to be closer to the heavens, and could be Scene from any point in the City. The white temple is where priest obtain the ability to be recognized priest of a ruler class god.   Palace of Sin-Kashid: The cities ruler resides in the Palace, and answers to the Satrap located in Susa. King Ur-Nungal the great son of Gilgamesh rules over Uruk and lives within the Palace of Sin-Kashid. This Palace is well defended by Sumerian and Persian soldiers, and houses the emissaries quarters for the Satrap of Susa.   The Temple of Gareus: When it was originally built on Earth before the era of the Crossroads it honored a god named Gareus. The God itself is unknown to the people of the Crossroads and Uruk. Not much is known, and most greeks believe this was a god that was born and died with the fall of Uruk. The God is still honored within the temple, but it primarily is used to honor Xerces.
Who can compare with him in kingliness? Who can say like Gilgamesh "I am King"? Whose name, from the day of his birth, was called "Gilgamesh"? Two-thirds of him is god, one-third of him is human. Government: Limited Monarchy under Bureaycracy, meaning that each settlement of the Persian Empire was able to keep their cultures and autonomy. This was allowed if they paid their taxes and came to the aid of Persian in its time of need. King Ur-Nungal of Uruk is in charge of his city, but answers to Shahanshah (King of Kings) Cyrus the Great.   Economy:
  • Uruk is one of the largest producers of food within the Persian Empire. Barley and Wheat are produced the most, but they are also known for the beans, peas, lentils, cucumbers, leeks, lettuce, garlic, grappes, apples, melons and figs.
Military:
  • The Aga-ush: The professional millitary of Ur and Uruk, the General of these forces is Utu-hengal, a famed heror and king of Uruk.
  • The Satrapy of Darius I: In chare of the State Police and Immortals stationed within the city.
  • The Immortals: A small contigent of Immortals are stationed within Ur, they opperate primairly to protect the interest of Persia.
  • General Shatamurrim:  A large contigent of the Millitary is based in an encampement outside of the city, he is responsible for dealing with any uprising that come up as well as any extreme dangers the ancient city of Uruk.
Notable People of Uruk   Alulim: An Arch Preist and En of Ur, he is an Omega level Hiereia of Innana and Ahura Mazda. It is argued that he could be an Arche Preist of any of the Mesopatamian gods, but has chosen Ahura Mazada due to his love of Knoledge. It is said he is the keeper of Ancient Divine names, and student of the Keepers, working with the Celestials born out of the Glory and worship of the Crossroads.       Notable Locations in Uruk:
  • The Grand Bazaar: The Grand Bazar is the palace in persian cities where people go to buy, sell, and trade their goods. Typically this area is covered by beautiful drapes and carpets hanging from post to keep the sun out. The area spells of essence, perfume, and exotic foods.
  • The Gibil: This is the primary forge of Uruk, and is where some of the weapons used are made, with titanium being the a major export of the Persian Empire, this is a place to acquire ore or premade weapons of Titanium. The shop is ran by Rish-Shamash a 35 year old man with adorned with many jewels, he and his wife Elutil make some of pretty good weapons.
  • The Pala Dress: Located in the Grand Bazar this is the fancier clothing shop located in Uruk. Ninkurra the shopkeeper is a 27 year old sumerian who follows Freya as her god. Her sense of fashion caught the eye of the norse god.
  • The Savak: This is the barracks or military bases of Mahdi Aslani, it located in the northeast quadrant of Uruk, and was placed their to block off any rebels who attempt to retreat or bring allies in. PErsia would attack from the south and the general from the north, and that leaves little room for any uprising to occur in Uruk.
