Session 28: This Island Sucks Report in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Session 28: This Island Sucks

General Summary

With a plan laid out for attacking the elven navy, the talks draw to a close and everyone files out of the room. With how dangerous of a mission this is, we’re bound to lose many of the crew along the way. We need to bolster our numbers in the hopes we won’t lose anyone important, so we can either attempt another prison break, attack a penal colony, or pay a visit to Serengeti. We all agree that it’s about time we’ve paid the pirate island a visit, but we have to be absolutely sure as it’s months out from our current location. The journey back isn’t smooth sailing as fortune has stopped smiling down upon us.     We hit nearly every storm we possibly can, get turned around quite a bit, and tensions between everyone is high. There’s no escaping one another though as we’re lost out at sea…until Amelia spots Serengeti in the distance. TT finds that to be strange considering our maps and her compass indicate that the island’s to the west of us. And this carbon copy of it is too far east to be correct. I jokingly say that mages must’ve used their magic to move the island to avoid something and Amelia buys that until we both mock her relentlessly for believing something so stupid. It’s clear strange things are afoot, but rather than avoid this potential problem, Amelia and TT get into an argument that ends with them both urging me to dock here to prove some kind of point.     What point is that? Who fucking knows because who has the time to listen to petty girl fights, really? We reach the island and it becomes very clear to me and Amelia right away that it’s nothing more than an illusion. I’ve heard stories of places like this before. Islands in the middle of nowhere that shift to show its’ victims what they desire most in order to lure them in. This is all one big mistake we’re about to make, but TT doesn’t heed any of our warnings and takes off into the suspicious mist anyways. Eventually Amelia’s curiosity gets the better of her and she flies off. I’m treated to the horrifying pained screech of TT and Amelia soon announcing that she’s been attacked by a vampire. Fucking sea vampires.     I race into the fog and now we’re all face-to-face with three vampires who’ve now taken a bite out of both TT and Amelia. Amelia’s unaware that she’s being attacked though and thinks her opponent’s trying to get frisky with her. So while the rest of us fight for our lives, Amelia casually tries to makeout with the vampire that’s using this to his advantage as he drains the life out of her. Eventually they’re all taken down, but not dead. The only way to kill them is with direct sunlight or destroying their coffins, so I race back to the ship to find Julius and have him dispel the mist. We’re only able to kill one of them before I’m urging everyone back onto the ship, but the island calls to TT and my leopard. They both refuse to get back on board, even when I try to carry them up. I warn them that we’ll leave them behind, but it’s still not enough until Julius dispels the enchantment.     TT argues that we should head further inland because the ruins here might yield treasure, but I don’t think the risk is worth it. Off to Serengeti proper we go, handing out gold to our crew so they can go party like their lives depend on it. With a suicide mission in our future, it might be the last time any of us get to go fucking wild, so we go off to enjoy a night of leisure before it’s back to business.
