Plague Maiden, Odona Character in Pathfinder Pirates | World Anvil

Plague Maiden, Odona

Rat Queen, Mother of Madness

In life, Odona was a woman who was desperate to be the center of everyone's attention. She didn't necessarily want to be loved, but she wanted to be respected and feared. A victim of war and a plague that tore her family asunder, Odona embraced her misery and used it to push her forward in her quest for power. She entangled herself within a cult, excelling with dark magic in a short amount of time. Odona was drawn to filth and rot like a moth to a flame. Where others were uncomfortable with chaos, she wrangled it and took control.   After gaining the attention of the demon lord, Orcus, as well as his generals. Though Odona failed in defeating Orcus for his place among the Abyss, he was impressed with her confidence and skill. He helped her ascend to godhood to dispatch Sonechard and take his place as the leader of his undead armies. Odona is a frightening sight to behold; she appears as an emaciated woman with a rat's skull in place of her head. Her unnaturally long fingers are clawed and gnarled antlers grow from her skull. Trapped within her antlers is a writhing, diseased mass of rats. Her body is littered with infected wounds, though she tends to cover her form in dark, tattered silks.   She delights in the suffering of others, including her own followers. While many are cautious when it comes to worshiping her, others have fallen prey to her cruelty. They've often been driven to suicide, self-mutilation, or have been disfigured by her hand before joining her swarm of vermin in her abyssal castle.
