Riabella

The City of Riabella is the oldest city in Setica, as well as acting as its Capital. Riabella rests in Silver River delta on Darmaney Bay.

Infrastructure

The city covers most of the large island it is on, having surrounded its shores with a combination of tall, stone walls and connecting piers, harbors, and dockyards. Inside, the city is divided by large stone walls and portcullis which create individual city wards.
At the northern edge of island lies the Noble District, where many of the wealthy and historic noble families reside. This district also holds connections to a smaller island which holds the former prison turned castle known simply as Stormbridge Castle.

History

The History of Riabella is often depicted as one of intense and almost futile struggle. From its early beginnings, Riabella served as a plantation for crops such as sugar and rice. As time continued on, the population grew and soon a small town formed. This town would eventually end its plantation styled economy following a series of floods which decimated the farming community.
Riabella would, in time, become a place to refine ores, metals, and wood from neighboring communities up river. This would lead to its second destruction, when a sawmill caught on fire, which spread through much of the town, destroying houses and businesses alike. In its third reincarnation, much of the city was rebuilt using sturdy stone with clay shingles to prevent a fire from occurring again.
During the Wars of the Continent, the city was one of the many major cities captured early by Aedrian forces. During the Second Battle of Riabella, Aedrian forces attempted to cover their retreat from the heavy Dwarven Siege Gun of the Rebels by collapsing and burning many of the buildings before detonating the Northern bridges on their escape.
This would be the last destruction of Riabella, as following the Revolution, it would be named the capital and through dedicated construction, would be remade stronger and more durable than ever before.
