Celestian Astrolabe Item in Pascelus | World Anvil

Celestian Astrolabe

This disc-shaped device is ringed outside with a few dozen buttons bearing various sigils, some arcane and others less easily identified. It has a few sighting arms that fold across its glass face and a complex gear mechanism inside.   The astrolabe has one charge and recovers that charge at dawn. The wielder can expend the charge to align the astrolabe, reporting either the current location (day) or the date (night). This takes approximately 10 minutes, during which the various dials and arms move and adjust. Once it completes, the astrolabe's face will display in Draconic:
  1. The arcane sigils that refer to the device's current location (if used during the day). It will continue to show this information until nightfall (and update as the user moves).
  2. The current date and time to within 10 rounds (if used at night) using the Concordiat year.
It is technically possible to use the astrolabe manually, but this usually requires significant study and skill. It only functions under to open sky on the Material Plane.
Saf estimated this item's value at between three and four thousand gold pieces in Session 45: Into the Aura.
