Alchemy in this setting is a mixture of herbalism, chemistry, metallurgy and transmutation magic (potentially divine, arcane, or both depending on the practitioner). It's considered a lost art in many regards, like so many things from before The Calamity, but it's possible there are practitioners in the world with some knowledge of it.
