Parran is a world under siege, enduring a cycle of prosperity dashed by fiendish incursions. One hundred years ago, An alliance heroes and nations formed to beat back the fiends and their monstrous armies. Using powerful magic and technology and an army augmented by clockwork soldiers, an astounding victory was won. The enemies were banished from the lands of new Parran Alliance.

The Demons of the Abyss were cast from the world, banished but not destroyed. The remains of their monstrous army fled north of the great mountains to the wasted lands, and nursed their wounds and their resentments. A peace settled in the lands of Parran that was unprecedented. Resources that had been used for war could bring the Innovations in magic and technology, like airships and railroads to the common people. In the minds of younger races, the wars are thought to be over for good. But those whose lives span centuries know better.

Now the cycle begins anew, whispers of the return of demonic incursions and monstrous armies outside the borders of Parran have been confirmed. Now, as before, great heroes are needed to defend this world from the abyss, and the nations of Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, and Gnomes must remain united in the defiance of this world's old foes.
