Uberleere Detachable Mech-Drive

"The distances travelled in patrols and engagements by mechs in the VSDC's patrols are vast enough that monumental amounts of delta-V is needed to finish the journey in a timely fashion, necessitating large quantities of fuel and propellant mass, and the right engine to burn them efficiently. Understandably, these setups greatly increase the mass of a mech to the point of measurably impacting its ability to maneuver and change direction. The solution was to simply fit these long-distance drives and their fuel (along with necesarry electronics and supplementary maneurvering thrusters) onto a modular external framework that fits onto standard quick-bolt mountings, allowing the mech to easily don and shed its bulky long-distance engines as needed. This concept is by no means uncommon in Union space, but as with all else to do with space the mass-conscious Vaduz like to push weight-reduction and fuel-efficiency to its absolute limits.
