Law of Liminality
The law of liminality affects every space that exists in this universe, inexplicably linking these spaces together. It can have weaker or stronger affects on different spaces.
Liminality as a concept is defined as the disorienting middle stage between a past existance and your future one, a transitionary stage where many people don't feel stable or fully developed. This concept can range from physically traveling between two places, growing up, or simply understanding that you and everything around you is changing every second, in essence being liminal.
A liminal space is seen as the transitionary period itsself, becoming something new but not fully being developed yet. Liminal spaces as a concept are described as places which seem disconnected from reality in an aestheticised atmosphere. As for this series, the setting itself is a collection of liminal spaces, places inexplicably linked to one another that seem like mazes and create feelings of tension, eeriness, or comfort.
Manifestation
Liminality affects the average perspective of space. One can go down a path, and come back, and the previous path might be altered in many ways. The space might have changed, aged, lost a direction or gained one, or completely changed. In many circumstances, a hallway might lead into the space that a previous path or room might've taken up, yet it doesn't. When one returns to the other space, it is still it's own space. Effectively, more than one space can take up a space, directly violating the average rules of physics. The spaces are highly dominated by this principal, with wormhole-like paths leading from space to space that are inexplicably connected and constant examples of spaces existed in the place of others.
Localization
The spaces vary highly from one to the other, and so some are more affected by this principal than others. For the sake of simplicity, I will sum up these spaces with classes.
Stable: Stable spaces retain their form and space. Any existing rooms, hallways, and other spaces will stay in their place unless altered by an outside force. These spaces are the most reliable for civilizations and businesses, as they stay in one place and tend to host safer environments.
Unstable: Unstable spaces are spaces that shift in one way or another. Transitionary areas may move or lead to seperate places. Enterances to these spaces can appear and disappear. These spaces tend to have the farthest range of possibilities, as some are more reactive than others.
Laybrinth:These spaces change constantly and tend to stay to the same aesthetic in order to become even more maze-like and confusing. They are the most dangerous type, as they are very easy to get lost in, can be hard to escape from, and often host unknown entities.
