The Devil

Official Character Sheet: Tim Carawan   -----   "Deep, very deep, beyond the Eight Circles and the fiery realms of brimstone and magma there I sit, a mere dot upon a throne of ice twenty times my height and six times my width.   I don’t know why I built a throne of ice. It was maybe 1500 years ago I did it, and back then I had a lot of ideas which didn’t pan out like I thought they would. The grandest idea was the Nine Circles of Hell, and each circle had this theme to it, right? The Third Circle had a giant worm in the middle. I was pretty proud of that one when I got it all set up. The Seventh Circle took a lot of work too. I split that one up into three rings, and the middle ring has a bunch of trees and bushes all around.   But for some reason I don’t remember anymore, I decided that after spending all this time messing around with flames and fire, I’d fill up the last Circle with ice, and then have four regions in that circle of ice which gets thicker and thicker, alongside growing colder and colder, until you make it all the way to the end of the whole thing where I spend my days wasting away in my icy palace.   It’s a good gig, but I spend it all alone. Most of my days pass by as I practice my Magma Surfing. Sometimes I head over to Earth and try to trick some souls into coming into my realm. I don’t do that as much nowadays. Just not the same as it used to be. Earth passed on, and I was left behind in the dust.   So now, I’m waiting. Waiting for a change in the wind which will shake up everything. The waves just aren’t radical enough until then. "   **Tim Carawan, King of Hell and Lord of the Eternal Flames; Satan; Lucifer; The Red Beast; The Eternal Tormenter; The Fallen Angel; The Devil;**   If there is one thing to know about the man who may doom your soul to eternal damnation in the fiery pits of Hell, it’s that he isn’t actually one person at all. Tim is the oldest demon in perhaps all of history, living for over twice as long as any demon can expect to. Nowadays, he spends his time torturing the damned and Magma Surfing - although recently global freezing has caused a decrease in the quality of waves. Also, Tim is frequently called upon to maintain his fading empire by killing dissenters and traitors, since the instability of the demon universe, something Tim contributed to greatly, have made his realm nowhere near as strong and great as it was once. As a young demon, Tim didn’t seem too different. Like all his peers he had a tendency to enjoy destruction, but curiously enough he also had two imaginary friends who he played with instead of the other demon children. Tim’s father hated this, and demanded that he give up the stupidity of imaginary friends and make real friends, and become great at demon soccer - which is a little bit like earth soccer but tends to result in their being no ball left to play with halfway through the game. Tim refused to give up his friends, and ran away from home to the Gateway Dimension when he was just 110.   Tim’s adolescent years were spent at first in India, but gradually he moved westwards until he finally ended up in the Middle East, where he met his first true friend: Jesus. Unfortunately, a couple things went wrong there, and while Tim tried he couldn’t convince Jesus to save himself, so Jesus died. Actually he died twice.   Anyway, after that traumatic experience Tim was a little angry, and he returned to the Demon Universe. Over the years, he became a warlord. Eventually, he finally managed to conquer most of Deminaris, with a nice side quest where he executed his own father. From there, Tim began warring with the other forces of the universes and cementing control over his own. He built up the Nine Circles of Hell, his kingdom, but at the peak of its power it suddenly declined and began to fade after Tim disappeared for fifty years. He returned to the empire, took back it’s helm, but stopped warring after that, and now he sits; The King of Hell waiting.   Tim attributes his massive power relative to other demons to one fact: He has two souls residing within him, which are interlinked and appear to be just one soul. On a very technical basis, he currently has three souls. There is Lucifer, which comprises 49.5% of his oversoul. Then there is Satan, which comprises an opposite 49.5% of his oversoul. Finally, there is the Tim aspect of him, which comprises a meager 1% of him. Each soul has the same personality, and all the same thoughts, but they are capable of being separated from each other while retaining a connection.   However, the balance of power within Tim’s oversoul can shift. As Lucifer grows in strength, he becomes less prone to immediate violence and can be very charming and sometimes even seem slightly kind. As Satan starts to dominate, he is quicker to destroy things and has very little patience. While both are in balance, Tim is weak due to their inability to fully mesh, constantly waging a war between themselves and cancelling each other out. However, by splitting Satan off into a weapon independent of his oversoul temporarily, Tim is able to unleash the strength of both halves.   Tim’s uncorrupted form is just Tim with a very slight inclination towards his Satan half. When he corrupts Lucifer gains that slight dominance. As Tim splits off the Satan parts of his oversoul to form the legendary trident Umbris - the trident which can devour the world in shadow - Lucifer grows stronger and yet Satan does at the same time. As a side note, the Tim part of his soul was not something he was originally born with, but rather the pieces of Lucifer and Satan which were capable of overlapping and cooperating. It was not much of either soul, and so therefore only that 1% is Tim. Consider Tim to exist as a Venn Diagram, with a very minor overlap.
