Animus Ceremony
The Animus Ceremony is an ancient ceremony practiced by the Primordial race, first created by the goddess as a way to find out who is worthy by her standards to worship her and stand by her side.
The ceremony tests the amount of nature magic a primordial has access to as well as their control of their emotions by having them stand in front of The Celestial Gate for as long as they can whilst it consumes their nature magic. Seeing as the nature magic is their life force, they have to back off from the gate in order to stay alive, However as part of the test they need to remain there for as long as possible and muster the strength to back off as close to the moment they lose all of their magic.
God deemed the ceremony barbaric and disgusting as there were many casualties in the process. Many overestimated their own potential, couldn't muster the strength to move with such low amounts of magic, or simply backed off too quickly and in her disdain towards the cowardice, killed them.
To this day the ceremony is being held by the surviving primordials in the remains of the primordial sea, only in a different way and for a different purpose. After the destruction of the Celestial Gate during the Battle of Munarack, the Key of genesis perched atop the gate has disappeared, stolen by Paricidael, a priest in the church of the goddess, formerly known as Azroloth of house Arkadan. The Key now sits inside of the temple of judgment deep in the earth's core, right above a still pool of some sort of liquid. Every primordial when reaching the age of seven must come to the key and reach for it. As they reach for the key it gets harder and harder to get to it, emitting gravity waves that cause ripples in the liquid. The ripples differ in shape according to the type of nature magic the primordial has and the size increases the closer they get to it. When finally they retreat from the key, it temporarily changes colour. They are then branded in the forehead with a branding iron carved and made from a horn of a Goliath Stikris and then enchanted with the high priest. The symbol that is etched onto their skin depends on the colour the Key changed to and will than cause the scar to be branded that colour as well. The Symbol and colour determine the social class the primordial belongs to and are extremely rarely change throughout one's lifetime.
