Terran Systems has perfected parenting. If and when a child’s parents find themselves in the throes of economic hardships, they may opt to donate their children to Systems. Systems generously provides the family with five to ten years worth of living expenses, which will quite often allow that family to escape the depths of poverty. As for the child, Systems will place them in a state-of-the-art communal home, with other children of similar backgrounds to act as their very own siblings. Such homes are administered, and the children looked after, by Terran Systems' own Mother and Father - a very specific programming of our patented Tenders technology, in this case, programmed specifically to adapt to a child's needs and desires. Mother and Father are on occasion modeled after the child’s actual parents. But if the child is too young to know them at the time of being turned over to Systems, or if our analysis shows images of the child's actual parents bring primarily negative memories, the default visages of Mother and Father are used. By reacting to each child’s attitude and preferences, and with algorithms based on a foundation of hundreds of years of human psychology and sociology, Mother and Father provide gentle but firm guidance, aiding these youths in becoming model citizens of Terran Systems.
As the child grows up, they are paying off their parents’ initial debt, as well as compensating for their own expenses, by learning to contribute as a productive member of Terran Systems. Mother and Father spend more hours than any Terran parents or guardians conceivably could, assessing each child's strengths, weaknesses, and proficiencies, and determining not only which jobs they might best be suited for, but which ones would most lead them towards fulfilling lives. We at Terran Systems do not discriminate, and Mother and Father are programmed not to as well. Any child may be perfectly suited for any job, regardless of age, sex, gender, splice, or medical condition.
