(HOME)

Based in (UNKNOWN) - (HOME) is an anonymous organization of hackers and Routers. Home functions almost exclusively in VR, but has members across all the colonized worlds, linked together via unknown means. Since corporate networks search for rogue signals attempting to access the grid, theories range from a series of cloaked transmitters and receivers throughout the colonized worlds to a secondary network or “VR2” hijacking legitimate signals and presenting false authorizations.
(HOME)’s alleged goal is to provide a place to exchange information "free of corporate interference." VR being what it is, this means most of the information exchanged is rumors, hearsay, misinformation, and anti-corporate propaganda. On occasion, useful information may make itself known, at which point repercussions may be seen to ripple through the hierarchy of one corporation or another. Since most corps are self-regulated, external social pressure must generally reach a tipping point before this sort of fallout is noticed outside the corp in question.
(HOME) is often consulted as a source of information by those off the grid. (HOME) is rumored to have an HQ, but if they do, its location is unknown even to most of its members. Likewise, the identity of their leader or leaders is unknown, but is referred to by the alias of Wintermute. They will occasionally appear in one of two avatars: 1) an amorphous floating blob, or 2) a hooded humanoid figure dressed in all black, two glowing white eyes as the only discernible facial features.
