Club Tropicana FC

Club Tropicana were founded in 2021 as a recreational outlet for the inmates at Tropicana Maximum Security Prison. Based on the windswept outpost of Isla Sinoro, Club Tropicana are believed to be the only semi-professional football club in the world operating from a prison. The formation of the club is the brainchild of prison governor Gladstone Dias. Prison budgets in Paradiso have been reduced by 5% per annum each year since 2001 in an attempt by El Presidente to further discourage crime. This has led to lean times at Paradiso Penitentiary, and the opportunities for Governor Dias to siphon funding have become increasingly rare. It is hoped that the development of an all-conquering football team will increase sponsorship and commercial opportunities for the prison.
Unlike the other founding clubs in Liga Paradiso, Club Tropicana are limited in that they cannot sign players. Instead, they rely solely on the prison population for their player pool. To that end, crime on the islands has risen by 28% over recent months as some of Paradiso’s most exciting talents endeavour to become incarcerated in the hope of representing ‘The Felons’.
Club Paradiso’s home stadium - The Yard - is a state-of-the-art facility, with a freshly laid gravel pitch for the commencement of the 2022 season. Other amenities include a sizeable laundry room and an expansive shower block with a choice of cold or very cold running water.
Club Tropicana’s will play in jump-suit orange for the inaugural Liga Paradiso season and the club maintain a fierce rivalry with fellow Isla Sinoro residents Chain Reaction FC, all culminating in the The Wham!Rossico derby.
