Void-pens are a rare type of pen, used predominantly by nobles and other wealthy individuals who can afford things they don't need. Void-pens use void teleportation to refill an ink pen from an external source, allowing the user to write for an extended period of time. Unfortunately the pen must remain attached to the ink source at all times to remain filling, though some models allow for detachment.
In the event of the flameshards' depletion, the ink's movement from the external ink source to the pen will slow and stop. Flameshards are simple to replace in the external ink source, being located on the underside beneath the gemstone. In the pen, many models have the flameshard resting within the ink chamber, making it a pain to remove, though some do have the shard separated by a layer of metal.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The ink is refilled via two sugilite gemstones linked together by a zepine cable. One crystal is at the bottom of the external ink source, and the other resides at the top of the pen's ink chamber.
