a childhood friend of hers she had become estranged from
Years ago Jason was her fending partner, and one of the very few men who had quite nearly been succesful at courting her, that was, until he met another woman. He looked at her, still smiling, his auburn hair messy as always in front of his face.
Jason’s smile vanished, a look of solemnity replacing it.”Abbey, you didn’t hear? She’s, uh, she’s not in the picture anymore.” Jason sighed, crossing his arms. “Took off with our wealthier neighbor, she did. Left me and Annabelle by ourselves. Been a couple years now since she left,” he paused, looking up at Abigail, “That’s sort of why I came back to town, I was honestly kind of hoping you’d still be the same old Abbey, too picky to choose a suitor to court you.” He trailed off, looking at his hands, now tangled before him on the table. He wringed his hands, “I was wondering if you’d allow me to court you again, Abbey. Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought of you since Mary Beth left me.”
