Tunguskan Civilization

The Tunguskan civilization is the oldest known human civilization in the known world, existing during the stone age. The Tunguskan civilization wasn't known about until recently because their architecture is so hard to identify, they made their temples, fortresses, and tombs all out of colossal and roughly made stone blocks, these blocks could reach up to 6,000 tons in weight, and didn't use any mortar between them because their immense weight held them together. Due to the immense size and rough shape of their blocks used for construction, most of their buildings were believed to just be naturally formed cliffs or caves, but now that their massive ancient structures are being uncovered after so long, the true extent of their influence is becoming known. It is now known that the Tunguskan civilization was the direct ancestors to all of the people of northern Merindia and Borea, and their culture has greatly influenced everyone there, even though it has been 10,000 years since their collapse, their legacy lives on forever in the cultures of their descendants.

Disbandment

The tunguskan civilization fell in -9,120 when they pressure on their border by enemy tribes was growing, and at the same time a slave rebellion occurred that ended up overthrowing Tunguska. A smaller part of the Tunguskan civilization survived in northwest Merindia until the year -8,620. This holdout of the Tunguskan civilization is the reason that the cultures of northern Merindia are so similar the the Tunguskan culture.

Territories

Their territory consisted of Borea and northern Merindia, around the Isonian sea.

Military

The Tunguskan army, while it could be viewed as disorganized and primitive by modern standards, was the strongest fighting force of it's time and carved out a huge territory during the stone age. The Tunguskan army consisted of infantry, slingers/archers, berserkers and beast riders.

Infantry

The infantry was armed with an array of random weapons and armour. The weapons of the infantry varied greatly, with them wielding clubs, axes, hammers, and spears which could come in one handed or two handed size. The armour that Tunguskan infantry would wear was primarily made out of bones and the shells of animals, as well as wood, hardened leather, and sometimes even stone plates. They also sometimes used shields.

Slingers/Archers

The Tunguskans also had large numbers of slingers which they would use to weaken their enemies before they met the infantry, there were also archers although they were less common but served the same function.

Beast riders

One of the great strengths of the Tunguskan army was their tamed beasts. Although taming large animals for war was not exclusive to the Tunguskan civilization as it had been done by many large tribes before, the Tunguskans used it to a greater extent. They would tame mammoths, woolly rhinos, aurochs, bison, runoth, bears, wolves, sabertooths, dire wolves, dire bears and almost any other large animal which they could use to shatter their enemies morale and crush their fortifications.

Berserkers

Berserkers were also a great strength of the Tunguskan army. The Tunguskans utilized berserkers to a greater extent then had even been done before, and they used their primal beast-like rage to destroy their enemies.

Technological Level

They had very primitive technology, still living in the stone age they had access to tools made only out of stone and bone.

Religion

The Tunguskans are thought to have believed that the world is a living being, seeing the planet as a mother to all that lives on it, they also believed in several less major gods that concern aspects of nature, as well as a large number of wild spirits that live in things like forests and rivers. The Tunguskan religion heavily featured animals, with important people being buried with bear skins in their sarcophagi, to rituals where people would harness the strength and ferocity of wild animals, to their priests wearing animal fur, teeth, tusk, horns and antlers as a sign of their divine importance. Their religion granted them access to magic, which they are believed to be the first users of, their temples still today are places with strong energies, even though they no longer appear to be temples. The Tunguskan's religion is very similar to the modern day Merindian Religion.

Foreign Relations

The Tunguskan civilization was the only existing civilization at its during the stone age. They viewed the other tribes as lesser and would frequently go to war with them, conquering their lands and enslaving much of them.

Agriculture & Industry

They has a primitive form of agriculture that allowed them to maintain permanent settlements and a very large population for the time.

Trade & Transport

They had a crude system of roads, which they would ride large animals down, like aurochs, runoth, woolly rhinos and Mammoths. The Tunguskans also had access to simple canoes, and could paddle across the coasts of the Isonian sea.

Infrastructure

The Tunguskans created a series of roads greatly helped them travel and carry supplies across their territory. These roads were made out of massive stone slabs, and could support immense amounts of weight, which part of how they transported the massive stone blocks used to construct their important buildings. The Tunguskans also had aquaducts that transported melt water down to the towns and cities. Tunguskan aquaducts were partially raised off of the ground, and built next to roads so people travelling along the roads could drink from them whenever they needed to.

Insteresting architecture. If they only had stone and bone, how did they mold the temples and building that weighed a couple of tons per stone? Also, are you taking inspiration from the tunguska region? is there any relation with the actual explosion? I'm just asking because your map is vaguely reminds me of earth

Thanks! It is actually possible to carve stone buildings with only stone/bone tools for example, Stonehenge and Skara Brae, I just made it a bit more extreme. No, I only took the name of the tunguska region because I thought it sounded cool, but the Tunguskan civilization is somewhat inspired by Siberia.

I know it's posible. I meant the cultural and logistical implications of it. they would have to construct roads and quarries, come up with an arquitecture infrastructure, coordinate workers and so on. Remember Stonehenge and skara brae were unique pieces, you're talking about making them larger and in greater quantities (from what I understand)

Well yeah that's basically what they did.

Oh, I see, it's in infrastructure, not in technology. Nevermind. sorry :)

No problem :)
