Dire bears are massive hulking beasts that roam the northern hemisphere of the midlands. Dire bears are second only to the Worg on the food chain, but above Dire Wolves, cave lions, and other bears in the food chain.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dire bears have a similar body shape as the much smaller brown bears, except dire bears have larger shoulder humps and a more rounded downwards lower back.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Dire bears have a large diet, eating a lot of what other bears eat, plus many larger animals. Dire bears are capable of taking down agriok, aurochs, bison, woolly rhinos, silon, megaloceros, and anything smaller than those animals.
Biological Cycle
Dire bears, due to their massive size are able to handle cold winters better than other bears, and don't hibernate through the winter, staying active year round.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
Dire bears live throughout the northern areas of Sundra, although they are less common than other species of bear. They are also found on Meru.

8 feet (2.4 meters) shoulder height, 16 feet (4.9 meters) standing up.
