maneaters
Maneaters are massive man eating insects native to Panagon. Maneaters are organized in a hive mind like ants, although they are less numerous and intelligent. Maneaters live in massive hives, which are originally hills which they carve cavernous tunnels into, which lead to chambers which server various purposes. These tunnels and chambers are more than large enough for Humans to fit into. Maneaters are named that because they are very dangerous to humans and commonly eat them.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Maneaters, come in different forms, there are the larger ground ones, which have a beetle-like body shape, and there are the flying ones, which have a more wasp-like body shape, and the queens, which are by far the largest and specialized in giving birth to thousands of eggs.
Genetics and Reproduction
The only maneaters that give birth are the queens, which there are only one of in each colony. The queens give birth to thousands of eggs, and require large amounts of food.
Ecology and Habitats
Maneaters live only in Panagon, and cannot live in cold environments and without a plentiful supply of food.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Maneaters require massive amounts of food to sustain a hive, luckily the jungles they live in provide. Maneaters will gather in large numbers, and swarm out into the jungle, killing everything they can and bringing it back into the hive to eat and to feed to the young and the queen.
The Maneaters in the desert cannot get as much food as their jungle counterparts, they work around this by farming fungus underground, feeding the fungus plants and animals in order to grow it, this is enough to sustain a desert hive.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Maneaters can communicate to eachother with pheromones, which allow them to act as one hive mind.
Average Length
It varies greatly, ground maneaters are around 6 feet long, flying ones, 4 feet long, and queens 30 feet long.
