carrion hallon

Carrion hallons are a species of hallon that feeds on the rotting corpses of dead animals. Carrion hallons inhabit deserts and steppes, such as those in northern Merindia, Mora, and Cocar.

Description

Carrion hallon have brown feathers as well as the common features of hallons such as a toothed beak, wing claws, a long tail, and great size. Carrion hallons have a long vulture-like neck that they use to reach further into corpses to pull out more meat. Carrion hallons have a wingspan of around 25 feet (7.62 meters).

Diet

Carrion hallons as mentioned before feed on corpses, and can handle decomposing meat better than most other animals can. Carrion hallons will use their great size to drive off smaller predators like wolves and hyenas from their meal, but will often clash with larger predators like lions and bears over control of a corpse. Carrion hallons will also occasionally attack smaller prey or sick/wounded prey.
