WARNING: DM info - The Grand Secrets of Ge Vaslas

1. The Artifact and Its Effects:

Deep in the foundation, beneath the statue of the Shadya founder, Ge Vaslas's prosperity lies in an ancient, mystical artifact: a tiny golden skeleton of a rabbit, encased in a solid diamond, the remains of an ancient fallen Loa, a divine spirit. This artifact, highly secured beneath the city, emanates a powerful magic that influences the luck and fortune of its inhabitants.

The artifact subtly manipulates luck within the city's confines. Those who experience misfortune, such as losing in gambling, making poor decisions or hearbreak, gradually lose pieces of their soul, becoming increasingly unlucky as the effects compund. Conversely, the fortunate find their luck amplifying, albeit only within the city's boundaries. Once an individual leaves Ge Vaslas, these effects slowly dissipate. This effect is also slightly addictive, making it very hard if not nearly impossible for most permanent residents to leave the city willingly.

The gradual nature of these changes makes them almost imperceptible, leading people to attribute their fortune or misfortune to either "the luck of the city" or their own skills and decisions.

2. The Secret of the Shadya Clan:

The true nature of the artifact and its effects is a closely guarded secret, known only to the current leader of the Shadya Clan, the descendants of Dra’rhizla. This knowledge is passed down through generations, allowing the clan to maintain a subtle but significant influence over the city due to the increased luck due to physically touching the artifact, a privilege reserved only for the Patriach or Matriach of the Shadya Clan.

3. The Soulless Inhabitants (The Unh):

The most unfortunate residents of Ge Vaslas, who have completely lost a part of their soul due to the artifact feeding off their bad luck, are referred to as the "Soulless" or the "Unh." Devoid of their spark and with grey hair and fallen faces, they wander aimlessly through the city, capable only of performing simple tasks.

These soulless servants are a common sight in Ge Vaslas, adding a somber counterbalance to the city's opulence. Inhabitants believe that the Unh have a broken connection to the Loa of luck, and there is little sympathy for them. The general consensus is that their condition is self-inflicted, a result of overestimating their abilities and challenging their own fate.
