Khajiit Culture - 1334 S.A.

The Khajiit are a fascinating and enigmatic species, known for their thrifty nature and their self-proclaimed nomadic lifestyle in the vast and treacherous deserts of Pangea. With their nomadic high medieval technology, they traverse the sand sea, surviving on their wits, cunning, and the occasional combat skills they have honed over the years. But despite their resourcefulness and resilience, they have a deep-seated prejudice against the Cynos, a trait that is deeply ingrained in their culture and heritage.   The Khajiit are a colorful people, not just in appearance but also in their way of life. Their average height varies widely, from the petite and agile to the towering and muscular, making them a truly diverse species. They speak Ta'agra, a language that is as exotic as the sands they traverse. Their capital city, Veridan, is a dazzling metropolis of gold and sandstone, a testament to their love of grandeur and extravagance.   At the helm of the Golden Khanate sits Khan Rakshasa a formidable ruler who commands the loyalty of his people with a fierce but just hand. The Khajiit are a people who are deeply in tune with magic, using it to accomplish feats that would be impossible for any other species. And with 75% of their population born with Regia, it is clear that they see magic as a necessary tool for their survival in the harsh and unforgiving desert landscape.   But perhaps the most fascinating aspect of Khajiit culture is their deep-seated pragmatism. They are not concerned with what is right or wrong, but rather with what they can get away with. And when it comes to grand multi-layered trade schemes, the Khajiit are second to none. Their mythos is filled with tales of daring and cunning, of legendary traders who have amassed great fortunes through their wit and guile. To the Khajiit, this is the pinnacle of their culture, and they will go to great lengths to achieve it.

Genetics and Reproduction

a khajiit mother will be pregnant for 5 months, or 1.25 years.

A usual birth is between 4 and 6 babies. Birthing only 1 or 2 is a sign of future greatness and riches and is known as either Sole-Born for 1 or Moon-Born for 2.

The Khajiit can reproduce with serveral of the other Sapient species:

Elf - Will produce a single offspring known as Alfhra'raht, Meaning "Half Proud". It is near impossible to recognize an Alfhra'raht as the only change from regular Khajiit is an increased ability with magic.

Human - Will produce a single offspring known as Wildlings in common and Rath’zir, meaning "Ugly" or "Hairless" in Ta'agra. Wildlings are sterile and mostly human-looking with large patches of hair on their face, shoulders, arms and legs. The Wildlings only develop their cognitive funtions when they reach around age 17, and then only slowly, but the wildings compensate by having a lifespand of 140 years with very little physical aging.

Cynos - Will produce 10-15 offspring known as Vashaak, meaning "Cursed" or "Disgusting" in Ta'agra. Resembling small underdeveloped cynos with teeth too large for their mouth. These Vashaak are sterile, usually live to the age of 12 and remain feral creatures.

Faun - Will Produce a single offspring of a pure blooded Khajiit.

Minotaur - Will almost never produce a single offspring known as The Mazorr.

Growth Rate & Stages

the usual natural lifespan of a Khajiit is 165-170 years old.

for the first 10 years the pup will be completely feral with no cognitive abilities as their mind only starts to develop around age 9.

after this the Khajiit child is considered toddler until age 15 and adolescent until age 24 where they become independent from their parents.

a khajiit is considered "past their prime" by age 110.

Ecology and Habitats

the khajiit peoples are well adapted to several environments such Jungle, grasslands, islands, snowy plains, but their preferred environment are dry and warm Deserts.
The Khajiit are so well adapted thanks to their changing fur that self-regulates its density to be comfortable in most terrains.
The only places the Khajiit seems to collectively hate are wetlands and Monsoon Region in the Saaniluk Tundra. the majority of khajiit live in the Ansiit Desert, their ancestral home for a thousand years. Here they enjoy the warm nights and evenings and their closness to the Spirits they worship.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Mainly carnivores, the Khajiit kitchen is also filled with exotic spice and rare herbs.   The most common dish is a marinade/sauce called Glomerata, made from aged fish, animal fat and Desert grass. Glomerata is very herbaceous, bitter and fishy. Few other races enjoy this dish.

Biological Cycle

Male Khajiit are able to produce children up to the age of 100, while female Khajiit can bear children for their entire adult life.

Behaviour

The Khajiit’s psychology is a complex tapestry woven from the threads of survival, cunning, and loyalty. Born into the harsh desert sands of the Ansiit, they exhibit a natural wariness—a vigilant watchfulness that keeps them ever alert to the shifting dangers of their environment. This keen sense of awareness is not merely a product of their surroundings but a deeply ingrained trait, passed down through generations. It is said that a Khajiit’s mind is as sharp as their claws, honed to a fine edge by the necessity of outthinking both predator and prey.   Socially, the Khajiit are fiercely loyal to their kin, yet they carry an inherent suspicion of outsiders. Trust, once lost, is a rare commodity to regain in Khajiit society. This stems from their long history of conflict and exploitation, teaching them that self-reliance and clan loyalty are the true safeguards in a world full of uncertainty. Despite this, within their clans, the Khajiit are known for their warmth and expressive nature, their emotions flowing as freely as the desert winds. Playfulness is as much a part of their interactions as the seriousness required for survival, creating a social dynamic that is both complex and deeply rooted in their need for communal strength.
