Ulthoc Forest

Like a patch of deep ocean somehow transplanted into the land, Ulthoc forest is the most dreaded and dangerous area along the entire shore of the Nidari Reach - not merely uninhabitable, like the Gollow Wastes, but actively hostile to outside life. Not content to stay within the confines of their cursed land, the horrifying beasts that dwell within will prowl into neighbouring lands, picking off wildlife, livestock, and people without discrimination.
The land is visited only by those seeking vengeance upon a particular beast of the Forest, or the strange worshipers of Father Deep, to whom the forest is profoundly sacred.
"Ulthoc" is Reldan for "dry-sea".
The area is devoid of fire essence, and fires cannot survive there long.

Geography

Between the dense branches of the mussel-encrusted trees and the perpetually drizzling black cloudsoverhead, little light makes it to the ground in Ulthoc forest. The creatures that hunt here have large eyes, bioluminescence, or long barbels to catch their prey.
The land is so deadly that it is very poorly mapped, with few paths or internal structures known.
The edges blend into the very different forests of Felletoum, Lacrestand, and Molomet on each side; but where it meets the waters of the Nidari Reach, it forms a continuous sea-cliff off which the many streams of Ulthoc cascade. the coastline itself is contorted into long, deep inlets known collectively as The Tendrils.
