among the bleakest and most uninhabitable places in the known world, the Gollow Wastes are a strange, bleak, airless landscape, where the weight-reducing effects of the native moonstone infusion has thinned the atmosphere to untenably thin levels. a rolling wasteland of grey, dusty hills, broken by craters.
why the effects of moonstone-infusion in Gollow are so different than in the neighbouring Sky-sea is unknown.
located beneath the surface of the wastes, however, is a secret base, set up by Deh-nin, the fallen sun of distant Haba-Ish. after its prior attempts at empire failed, it looked to create a remote base in a secure location. its few rogue emissaries hired locals and created underground bases, lit by sunfire and sealed from the outside by the river that drains from the Gollow Borders. in its centre is a portal, created by deh-nin at great cost and carried across half the world. the Haba-ishi, the Whispers, and the eastern Giterikin all know something fishy is going on, though nobody has put the whole thing together yet.
